The Confrontation
Scene 1 — On the Way to Attorney Bianca’s Office
INT. CAR — DAY
Larry is driving while Sherta sits beside him, visibly nervous. The atmosphere inside the car is tense.
SHERTA:
Larry, I really don’t think you should go inside. You know how angry
you get when you see Mr. Newburk.
LARRY:
I know exactly what I’m doing. I’m going there because I need answers.
SHERTA:
But what if things get out of control?
LARRY:
Then I’ll deal with it. But I’m not turning back.
Sherta looks at him anxiously, realizing that Larry has already made up his mind.
Scene 2 — Entering the Attorney’s Office
INT. ATTORNEY BIANCA’S OFFICE — DAY
Larry and Sherta enter the office and immediately notice Greg sitting across the room with his father, Mr. Newburk. Attorney Bianca is also present.
Larry stops walking. His expression changes the moment he sees Mr. Newburk.
SHERTA:
Larry… please. Don’t do anything.
LARRY:
I just want to know the truth.
Scene 3 — The Confrontation
INT. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE — CONTINUOUS
Larry suddenly walks directly toward Mr. Newburk. Greg immediately notices the anger on Larry’s face.
Larry grabs Mr. Newburk firmly by the front of his shirt and pulls him to his feet.
LARRY:
Why did you do it?!
LARRY:
Why did you have Sherta’s mother locked up?!
LARRY:
What did she ever do to you?!
MR. NEWBURK:
You don’t know the whole story!
LARRY:
Then tell me the story!
Sherta looks frightened while Greg quickly steps between Larry and his father.
Scene 4 — Greg Pulls Larry Away
INT. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE — CONTINUOUS
GREG:
That’s enough!
LARRY:
Get your hands off me!
GREG:
You’re not going to solve anything by attacking my father.
Greg pulls Larry toward the adjoining room while Sherta follows. After getting Larry inside, Greg closes the door.
Scene 5 — The Private Meeting
INT. CONFERENCE ROOM — MOMENTS LATER
Larry and Sherta sit across the table from Greg. Attorney Bianca joins them.
GREG:
You came here looking for answers. So listen carefully.
GREG:
Bianca, you’ve heard enough to understand what’s happening.
GREG:
I want you to represent them.
LARRY:
You mean you’re going to help us?
GREG:
Yes. I’m taking this case seriously.
Scene 6 — Bianca Changes Sides
INT. CONFERENCE ROOM — CONTINUOUS
Bianca opens the case files on the table while Greg explains the situation.
GREG:
I want you to fight this case properly. I want Batney held
accountable, and I want Sherta’s mother released if the evidence
proves she was wrongfully imprisoned.
SHERTA:
You’d really do that?
BIANCA:
If the evidence supports it, I’ll fight for her.
LARRY:
You hear that?
SHERTA:
Yes.
Scene 7 — A New Alliance
INT. CONFERENCE ROOM — CONTINUOUS
The tension in the room begins to disappear. Larry and Greg shake hands, agreeing to work together.
LARRY:
Then we’re on the same side now.
GREG:
We’re on the side of the truth.
Sherta joins them at the table while Bianca begins organizing the case files.
Scene 8 — The Next Plan
INT. CONFERENCE ROOM — LATER
Documents, photographs, notes, and legal files cover the table. Everyone is focused on building their next strategy.
BIANCA:
First, we establish exactly how Sherta’s mother was imprisoned.
GREG:
Then we find out who authorized it and why.
LARRY:
And Batney?
BIANCA:
We’ll deal with Batney after we have the evidence.
LARRY:
Then let’s get started.
