BETHANY DEMANDS DIVORCE — LARRY BEGS HER TO COME BACK HOME!
A Cinematic Screenplay of Heartbreak, Regret, Betrayal, and Lost Love
SCENE 1: BETHANY LEAVES WITHOUT WARNING
INT. LARRY AND BETHANY’S HOUSE — EARLY MORNING
The house is quiet. Bethany stands near the bedroom door, holding her handbag. Her heart is exhausted after countless disappointments. She looks around the room one final time before walking toward the front door.
Without telling Larry, she leaves the house. Hours later, Larry discovers that she is gone.
LARRY
Bethany? Where are you? Why didn’t you tell me you were leaving?
He searches the bedroom and living room before grabbing his phone. He calls her repeatedly, but she does not answer.
LARRY
Please answer your phone, Bethany. You’re making me worried.
SCENE 2: LARRY SEARCHES FOR HIS WIFE
INT. LIVING ROOM — AFTERNOON
Larry approaches Brooke, hoping she knows where Bethany has gone. His worried expression reveals how badly the situation is affecting him.
LARRY
Brooke, have you seen Bethany? I’ve been looking for her everywhere.
BROOKE
No, Larry. What happened between you two?
LARRY
She left without telling me. She won’t answer my calls, and I don’t know where she is.
BROOKE
Maybe she’s tired of waiting for things to change. You need to think about why she felt she had to leave.
Larry looks away. Brooke’s words force him to consider the possibility that his own behavior pushed Bethany away.
SCENE 3: BETHANY DEMANDS A DIVORCE
INT. BETHANY’S TEMPORARY ROOM — EVENING
Bethany finally answers Larry’s call. Her voice is cold, and Larry immediately senses that something has changed.
LARRY
Bethany! Where are you? I’ve been worried sick about you.
BETHANY
I didn’t leave because I wanted you to chase me, Larry. I left because I’m tired of living like this.
LARRY
What are you trying to say?
BETHANY
I want a divorce. I’ve given this marriage enough chances, and I don’t want to keep feeling disappointed.
Larry freezes. He never imagined that Bethany would seriously consider ending their marriage.
LARRY
Please, Bethany. Don’t make this decision while you’re upset. Let me explain.
BETHANY
I’ve thought about it, Larry. I need you to understand that I’m serious.
The call ends, leaving Larry staring at his phone in disbelief.
SCENE 4: THE SILENT PHONE CALL
INT. LARRY’S BEDROOM — LATE NIGHT
Larry sits alone on the edge of the bed. The empty room reminds him of Bethany’s absence. Suddenly, her name appears on his phone.
LARRY
Bethany? Are you there?
She says nothing. Larry can hear her quietly breathing on the other end. Neither hangs up. They simply listen to each other’s voices, unable to express what they feel.
LARRY
I keep thinking about everything that happened between us. I should have listened to you. I should have made you feel loved instead of leaving you feeling alone.
LARRY
I treated you so badly, Bethany. I’m sorry for making you feel like you didn’t matter.
Eventually, the call ends without a goodbye. Larry lowers his phone, overwhelmed by regret.
LARRY
I may have already lost her.
SCENE 5: LARRY DECIDES TO APOLOGIZE
INT. LARRY’S LIVING ROOM — THE NEXT MORNING
Larry barely slept. He realizes that repeatedly calling Bethany will not repair their relationship. If he wants another chance, he must accept responsibility for his mistakes.
LARRY
I can’t keep waiting for her to come back. I need to face her and tell her how sorry I am.
He takes his keys and leaves the house, determined to speak to Bethany honestly.
SCENE 6: LARRY BEGS BETHANY FOR FORGIVENESS
EXT. BETHANY’S TEMPORARY RESIDENCE — AFTERNOON
Bethany opens the door and looks surprised to see Larry. She quickly hides her emotions behind a cold expression.
BETHANY
What are you doing here, Larry?
LARRY
I came to apologize. I know I’ve hurt you, and I’m not going to pretend that everything can be fixed with a few words.
BETHANY
You should have thought about that before I walked away.
LARRY
You’re right. I should have listened when you were still beside me. I want to take better care of you, give you the affection you deserve, and make you feel loved.
BETHANY
And what happens when you get comfortable again? What happens when you start ignoring my feelings?
LARRY
I can’t change the past, but I can work to change the way I treat you. I want to prove it through my actions.
SCENE 7: BETHANY REFUSES TO RETURN
EXT. BETHANY’S TEMPORARY RESIDENCE — CONTINUOUS
Larry looks at Bethany with hope, but she remains distant. Her heart has been hurt too many times for her to trust him immediately.
LARRY
Please, Bethany. Come home with me. We can work through our problems together.
BETHANY
Home? You mean the place where I felt alone even when you were standing right beside me?
Larry lowers his head. He has no excuse for her pain.
LARRY
I’m sorry. I know I cannot demand your forgiveness. I only want another chance to show you that I can do better.
BETHANY
I’m not ready to come back, Larry. I need time to think about my future.
LARRY
I’ll respect your decision. I won’t force you to return, but I hope you will eventually give me a chance.
Bethany turns toward the door. For a moment, her expression softens, but she ultimately closes the door. Larry stands outside, realizing that an apology is only the beginning.
SCENE 8: A MARRIAGE HANGING BY A THREAD
INT. BETHANY’S TEMPORARY ROOM — EVENING
Bethany reads Larry’s final message: “I’ll give you the time you need. I just hope one day you can believe in me again.”
She wonders whether Larry truly understands his mistakes. However, she is not ready to forget the disappointment she has experienced.
Meanwhile, Larry returns to his empty house. He finally understands that love means making someone feel valued before they decide to leave.
LARRY
I hope I haven’t realized my mistakes too late.
He looks at his phone, hoping Bethany will contact him. But no message arrives. Their marriage now stands at a crossroads: Bethany wants a divorce, while Larry desperately wants another chance.
