“THE CUSTODY TRAP”

INT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE – MORNING

A quiet, peaceful morning.
Shayla opens the front door to pick up a delivery.

She freezes.

A single official envelope lies on the floor.

Her heartbeat shifts.
Fear creeps in.

She picks it up.
Hands trembling.
Tears the seal open.

The first line hits her like a punch.

INSERT – COURT NOTICE
“AMBER AND ANTHONY HAVE FILED FOR EMERGENCY CUSTODY OF KAI.”

Shayla’s breath catches.
She staggers back into the house, shutting the door behind her.

Her hands turn icy.
Her mind burns.

AMBER (V.O.)
We’re doing what’s best for Kai.
Honestly… you should’ve known this day was coming.

Shayla’s jaw tightens.

Another message pops up.

ANTHONY (TEXT – V.O.)
We already filed everything.
If you cooperate, it’ll be less painful.

Shayla scans the documents.
Her eyes widen.

A fake character complaint.
Claims she’s unstable.
Irresponsible.
Financially unfit.

Her anger rises like fire.

SHAYLA
(whispering to herself)
Unstable?
Me?
After everything they’ve put me through?

She looks around her small, warm home — every corner filled with Kai’s memories.

His toys.
His drawings.
His tiny shoes by the door.

She clenches the papers.

She isn’t perfect…
but she is a mother.

She isn’t losing Kai.

INT. SHAYLA’S BEDROOM – MOMENTS LATER

Shayla opens an old wooden drawer.

Hidden beneath papers…
A small black flash drive.

Her last defence.
Her secret weapon.

She plugs it into her laptop.

One file.

She clicks it.

Amber’s voice fills the room.

AMBER (V.O.)
Once we get Kai, we’ll decide later what to do with Anthony.
He’s still useful for now.

Anthony laughs darkly.

ANTHONY (V.O.)
Shayla will break.
She always breaks.

Shayla sits there, breathing hard.
Then something shifts inside her.

Not fear.
Not weakness.

Strength.

“They’re not taking my child.”

INT. SHAYLA’S LIVING ROOM – EVENING

A sudden knock.

Shayla opens the door.

Amber stands there — fake smile, expensive suit, cold eyes.

AMBER
Hey sweetheart.
We came to talk.
Anthony’s in the car.
If you hand over Kai willingly, this goes smoother for everyone.

Shayla steps forward, calm and sharp.

SHAYLA
Amber… why are you doing this?
Kai isn’t a prize.

Amber rolls her eyes.

AMBER
Oh honey… everything is a game.
Some people just never learn how to play.

Shayla leans in.

Voice low.
Dangerous.

SHAYLA
And you don’t know when you’re about to lose.

Amber’s smile falters.
A flicker of fear.

AMBER
What’s that supposed to mean?

Shayla doesn’t answer.
She simply closes the door — quiet, controlled, powerful.

The silence inside is electric.

Shayla looks at Kai’s drawing on the fridge — him holding her hand.

Her resolve hardens.

She grabs the flash drive.

This isn’t just evidence.
It’s her weapon.
Her justice.
Her voice.

SHAYLA
(soft, fierce)
I’m done being scared.
Tomorrow… they face the truth.

She sits at the table, opening her laptop.
Documents spread.
Plans forming.

No more running.
No more crying.
No more letting them control the narrative.

Shayla is no longer the woman they remember.

She is a mother.
A fighter.
A storm.

INT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE – NIGHT

The house is dark.
Still.
Silent.

Shayla works at the laptop, eyes sharp, unblinking.

Suddenly — a shadow moves outside the window.

A quiet knock echoes through the house.

Slow.
Deliberate.

Shayla freezes.

Who is at the door…
this late?

She stands slowly.

Her hand tightens around the flash drive.

She walks toward the door…

The knocking gets louder.

Shayla inhales.

And opens it.
