Destiny’s Safe Place Shattered”

 The doorknob twitches.

Destiny gasps.

Larry steps in front of her.

RIKA (O.S., cold, final)
Three seconds, Destiny.
Open this door…
Or we come in our way.

INT. BETHANY’S LIVING ROOM – NIGHT

Soft lamp light. A silent house. But Bethany is pacing fast, furious, her breathing sharp.
Her phone buzzes with a message from a neighbor: “Larry is back in ATL… and Destiny is with him.”

Bethany freezes.
Her jaw locks.
Her eyes burn.

BETHANY (whispers, shaking with rage)
Oh, so he really did it… without asking… without saying a single word…

She slams her hand on the table.

BETHANY
Alright, Larry. If you can play dirty… I won’t play clean either.

She grabs her purse, her keys, and storms out.

APARTMENT COMPLEX NIGHT – ATLANTA

A warm, golden hallway.
Camera follows Destiny, smiling for the first time in months, walking behind Larry.

She’s calm. Safe. Her shoulders not tense for once.

LARRY (soft, protective)
Destiny, you don’t have to be scared here. I got you this time, okay?

DESTINY (quiet, surprised)
You really came for me… without telling anyone?

Larry nods, guilt and pride mixed.

LARRY
Sometimes… you gotta stop asking permission from people who only want control.

Destiny smiles slightly. A safe moment.
But a faint smoke detector beep echoes again.

DESTINY (laughing quietly)
Larry… yeh beep kab se theek nahi karwai?

LARRY (sighs)
Please don’t start— I’m trying.

They laugh — unaware a storm is heading straight toward them.

BETHANY’S CAR – MOVING – NIGHT

Thunder rumbles.
Bethany drives like a demon.
Her nails dig into the steering wheel.

BETHANY (furious monologue)
He took my daughter behind my back?
Challenged me? Hid it from me?
No. Not happening. Not today.
I’ll end this. My way.

Her phone vibrates. She answers without looking.

VOICE (FEMALE, LOW, SLIGHTLY ROUGH)
Hello, Bethany. What dragged you out this late at night?

Bethany smirks.

BETHANY
I have a job. And I need your help.

VOICE
Is it about Destiny?

Bethany’s silence… confirms everything.

VOICE (laughing coldly)
I knew it. Text me the address.

Bethany’s eyes flash wickedly.

DESTINY’S OLD NEIGHBORHOOD – SAME NIGHT

A dark corner.
Streetlight flickering.

Bethany stands in front of Destiny’s old gang girl — RIKA, a sharp-eyed teenager with a cold smirk and three more girls behind her.

RIKA (arms crossed)
Why should we trust you, Bethany?
Last time you came to the block, you called the cops.

Bethany steps closer — fearless.

BETHANY (calm, manipulative)
Because this time… I’m saving Destiny.

Rika raises an eyebrow.

Bethany leans in.

BETHANY (voice lowered, venomous)
Larry forced her to Atlanta.
He DRAGGED her there.
She’s not safe with him.

Rika and her girls stiffen.

RIKA
Forced? Destiny?
She didn’t call us…

Bethany lies with full confidence.

BETHANY
Because Larry snatched her phone.
He doesn’t want you girls near her.
He knows you’ll show up.

The girls exchange angry looks.
Bethany has completely poisoned their minds.

RIKA
So what do you want?

Bethany smiles darkly.

BETHANY
Bring her back to Chicago.
Tonight.

Rika smirks, cracking her knuckles.

RIKA
Say less.

They step forward into the shadows — mission locked.

Bethany watches them leave, her expression unreadable.

LARRY’S APARTMENT – LATER THAT NIGHT

Destiny puts on one of Larry’s big hoodies, relaxed, stretching on the couch.
Another beep from the smoke detector.

DESTINY (teasing)
Larry… please… this sound is driving me insane.

LARRY (laughing)
Okay, okay, I’ll get the ladder tomorrow.

Suddenly — a loud KNOCK at the door.

Destiny freezes.

Larry frowns.

LARRY
It’s late… who would—

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK — harder this time.

Destiny’s breathing tightens. Something in her eyes darkens.

DESTINY (whispers)
Larry… don’t open it.

Larry starts walking toward the door anyway.

LARRY
Relax. It’s probably a neighbor.

Destiny stands, heart pounding.

Something feels wrong.
Too wrong.

LARRY’S DOOR – SAME MOMENT

The peephole reveals no one.

Silence.

But just out of frame…
A shadow moves.
Another figure crouches.
Another holds something metallic.

LARRY’S APARTMENT – CONTINUOUS

Larry’s hand rests on the knob.

DESTINY (panicked whisper)
Larry… please… stop.

He turns slightly.

LARRY (soft)
Hey. You’re safe now. Nothing will—

A TEXT BUZZES on Destiny’s phone.

She glances down.

UNKNOWN NUMBER:
“We’re here for you.”

Her blood runs cold.

DESTINY (terrified)
Oh my God… no… no no no…

Larry freezes.

LARRY
Destiny… what’s going on?

Destiny backs away from the door, shaking.

DESTINY
Someone’s outside.
Someone from… before.
They can’t be here… they CAN’T—

KNOCK!!

Larry jumps.

A low whisper comes from the other side:

RIKA (O.S., taunting)
Destiny… open up.
We came to take you home.

Destiny’s face collapses in shock — she recognizes the voice.

STREET OUTSIDE – SAME MOMENT

Bethany sits in her car across the street, watching the apartment door intensely.

Her lips curl into a satisfied smile.

BETHANY (murmuring)
Let’s see, Larry…
Now how will you protect her?

She leans forward, eyes dark, waiting for chaos.

BACK TO LARRY’S DOOR

Larry stares at Destiny.
Destiny stares at the door.
Both frozen.
Breathing hard.

RIKA (O.S.)
Destiny.
We know you’re in there.
And we’re not leaving without you.

Destiny trembles.

Larry’s hand tightens, unsure whether to lock the door — or fight.

The tension spikes.

Footsteps outside shift.

One of the girls whispers:

GIRL (O.S.)
Should we break in?
