The Phone Call
Night. The house is quiet, but Bethany’s mind isn’t. She stares at her phone, replaying Lynette’s threat over and over.
BETHANY: Why hasn’t Lynette been arrested yet?
Her voice shakes as the dispatcher listens carefully on the other end.
BETHANY: She threatened me. She said she’s going to hit me again.
Fear Turning Into Frustration
Bethany paces the living room, checking the windows as she speaks.
DISPATCHER: Ma’am, we understand your concern. Has she tried to contact you tonight?
BETHANY: No, but she doesn’t have to. I saw it in her eyes. She meant it.
There’s a bruise faintly visible on Bethany’s cheek — a reminder of what already happened.
The Threat
Flashback — Lynette standing close, voice low but dangerous.
LYNETTE: Next time, I won’t stop. I’ll hit you again.
Back to present. Bethany grips the phone tighter.
BETHANY: I shouldn’t have to wait until she actually does it again.
Police Response
Red and blue lights reflect faintly through Bethany’s curtains as a patrol car arrives.
OFFICER: We’re here to take your statement.
BETHANY: I already gave one. I need protection.
The officers exchange a serious look, writing everything down carefully.
A Dangerous Call
Suddenly, Bethany’s phone buzzes. Unknown number.
OFFICER: Put it on speaker.
Bethany answers. Silence. Then a cold whisper.
LYNETTE (V.O.): You really called the police?
Bethany’s face turns pale.
BETHANY: You threatened me.
LYNETTE (V.O.): I warned you.
Consequences Begin
The officers immediately step outside, calling for backup.
OFFICER: That call counts as intimidation. We’re locating her now.
Bethany stands frozen in the doorway as sirens echo into the distance.
But as the night grows quiet again, Bethany can’t shake one terrifying thought… what if this arrest only makes Lynette more dangerous?
