D’Nisha thought she was walking into an ordinary evening. She had no idea that one unexpected visit was about to make her question everything she thought she knew about Anthony.
It started when D’Nisha called Anthony several times and got no answer. At first, she ignored it. Anthony had been busy lately, and she didn’t want to start an argument over something small.

D’Nisha stared at her phone.

She grabbed her purse and decided to find Anthony herself.

She knocked.

Shayla suddenly walked toward the kitchen and picked up a small envelope from the counter.
“This is what we were discussing,” she said.

Shayla looked at Anthony.

D’Nisha looked confused.
“Who?”
Anthony didn’t answer.
“Anthony, who contacted her?”
Shayla finally spoke.
“Someone who knows something about your past.”

D’Nisha put the papers down.
D’Nisha: “So you weren’t hiding a relationship?”
Anthony: “No.”
D’Nisha: “Then why did it look so suspicious?”
Anthony: “Because I was trying to protect you from something before I knew the whole truth.”
D’Nisha: “And you thought lying to me was protection?”
Anthony: “I know I handled it badly.”
D’Nisha was still angry, but now her anger was mixed with confusion.
She looked at Shayla.
“And you? Why did you agree to keep this from me?”
Shayla lowered her eyes.
“Because I promised Anthony I wouldn’t tell you until he was ready.”

D’Nisha looked at him.

It said:

D’Nisha stared at the screen.
“Who sent this?”
Anthony shook his head.
“I don’t know.”
Then another message appeared.

The new message contained a photograph.
D’Nisha looked at the photograph and immediately recognized the location.
“That’s my old house.”
Anthony looked shocked.
Shayla stepped closer.
“What does that mean?”
D’Nisha slowly turned the phone around.
“It means whoever sent this has been watching us for a long time.”

Before anyone could say another word, Anthony’s phone rang.
The same unknown number was calling.
Anthony stared at D’Nisha.
“Should I answer?”
D’Nisha took a deep breath.
“Put it on speaker.”
Anthony answered.

Then a man’s voice finally spoke.
“Anthony, you still haven’t told her the biggest part.”
Anthony’s face turned pale.
D’Nisha immediately noticed.
“What biggest part?” she demanded.
The caller laughed softly.
