INT. LARRY AND BETHANY’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – EVENING
The house is unusually quiet.
BROOKE sits across from LARRY, gathering the courage to speak. Larry watches her carefully, already sensing that she has something important to say.
Brooke takes a breath.
BROOKE
Dad, I’ve been thinking about going to Philly this weekend.
LARRY
For what?
BROOKE
I want to visit Isaiah.
Larry’s expression immediately changes.
He leans back, clearly unhappy with the idea.
LARRY
No. You’re not going.
BROOKE
Why not?
LARRY
Because I’ve already heard enough about what’s been going on. I’m not letting you go down there right now.
BROOKE
But Dad, I just want to see him. It’s only for the weekend.
LARRY
I said no, Brooke.
A long silence fills the room.
BROOKE
Please, Dad. Just let me go this once.
LARRY
No. You’re not going anywhere.
Brooke looks away, frustrated.
2. HALLWAY – LATER
INT. LARRY AND BETHANY’S HOUSE – HALLWAY – LATER
Brooke walks away from the living room, her face showing frustration and hurt.
She quietly closes the door behind her.
Larry walks toward Bethany.
BETHANY
What happened?
LARRY
Brooke wants to go to Philly this weekend to see Isaiah.
Bethany pauses.
BETHANY
I’m not going to tell you what to do. She’s your daughter.
She continues carefully.
BETHANY
But if you say something too harsh and she does something you don’t expect later, you might blame me and say I should have warned you.
LARRY
So what are you saying?
BETHANY
I’m saying you need to be careful with her. She’s already upset.
LARRY
Fine. Then keep an eye on her.
LARRY
Just make sure she doesn’t decide to leave without telling us.
BETHANY
I’ll talk to her.
3. BROOKE’S ROOM – NIGHT
INT. BROOKE’S ROOM – NIGHT
Brooke sits alone on the edge of her bed.
The room is dark except for a small lamp beside her.
She looks at her phone.
Her thoughts are racing.
She knows Larry has made his decision, but Brooke isn’t ready to give up on seeing Isaiah.
She quietly opens her closet and pulls out a bag.
Brooke begins packing.
She stops for a moment and listens.
Nothing.
The house is silent.
Brooke closes the bag.
She knows what she is about to do could create a huge problem, but she makes her decision.
4. BEDROOM – LATE NIGHT
INT. LARRY AND BETHANY’S BEDROOM – LATE NIGHT
Larry and Bethany are asleep.
The house has finally settled into silence.
A clock moves steadily through the night.
Down the hallway, Brooke quietly steps out of her room with her bag.
She pauses and looks toward her parents’ bedroom door.
No movement.
Brooke takes a deep breath.
She walks toward the front door.
The door opens quietly.
Brooke slips outside.
The door closes behind her.
5. OUTSIDE THE HOUSE – NIGHT
EXT. HOUSE – NIGHT
Brooke walks away from the house with her bag.
She looks back one last time.
For a moment, she hesitates.
Then she continues down the street.
Her decision is made.
6. MORNING – THE DISCOVERY
INT. LARRY AND BETHANY’S HOUSE – MORNING
Sunlight begins to fill the bedroom.
Bethany slowly wakes up.
Larry is still lying beside her.
Bethany looks at the clock before getting out of bed.
She walks into the hallway.
Something feels different.
She stops outside Brooke’s bedroom and gently opens the door.
BETHANY
Brooke?
No answer.
Bethany steps inside.
The bed is empty.
Then she notices something.
Brooke’s bag is gone.
Bethany’s eyes widen.
7. BETHANY TELLS LARRY
INT. LARRY AND BETHANY’S BEDROOM – CONTINUOUS
Larry is sitting on the edge of the bed when Bethany rushes inside.
LARRY
What happened?
Bethany struggles to find the words.
BETHANY
Larry…
LARRY
What?
BETHANY
Brooke isn’t in her room.
Larry freezes.
LARRY
What do you mean she isn’t in her room?
BETHANY
I checked everywhere. She’s gone.
LARRY
Gone where?
BETHANY
I don’t know.
Larry quickly walks toward the hallway.
8. BROOKE’S EMPTY ROOM
INT. BROOKE’S ROOM – MOMENTS LATER
Larry enters and looks around the empty room.
The realization slowly hits him.
He remembers the conversation from the previous evening.
He remembers telling Brooke she wasn’t going anywhere.
Bethany stands behind him.
BETHANY
Larry…
Larry doesn’t answer.
His eyes remain fixed on the empty space where Brooke’s bag used to be.
LARRY
She left.
BETHANY
You told her no.
LARRY
I know.
9. LARRY CALLS BROOKE
INT. BROOKE’S ROOM – CONTINUOUS
Bethany speaks carefully.
BETHANY
We need to find out where she went.
Larry grabs his phone.
His frustration is now mixed with worry.
LARRY
I’m calling her.
He dials.
The phone rings.
No answer.
Larry tries again.
Still nothing.
BETHANY
Maybe she went to see Isaiah.
Larry looks at her.
The possibility clearly worries him.
LARRY
Philly…
10. THE REALIZATION – FADE OUT
Larry realizes what Brooke may have decided to do.
He lowers the phone.
LARRY
I told her she wasn’t going.
Bethany quietly responds.
BETHANY
And she decided to go anyway.
Larry looks toward the empty bedroom.
The house suddenly feels much bigger and much quieter than before.
He knows this isn’t just about a weekend trip anymore.
It is about trust, family, and the consequences of decisions made in anger.
