Lauren believed she and Wayne were serious. They had talked about commitment and a future together, so when he became distant, she assumed he was busy. She never imagined he was planning a special trip with Yahya—and preparing to propose to her.
Anthony, D’Nisha, Amber, and Dave were there too. Decorations were ready, everyone was gathered, and Wayne was about to make a life-changing announcement. Somehow, Lauren was the only one who didn’t know.
2. Shayla Makes the Call
Shayla couldn’t keep the secret any longer. She called Lauren, her voice tense. “You need to come here. Wayne is with Yahya, and he’s about to propose.”
Lauren went silent. “What did you just say?”
“I’m sorry. I think you deserve to see the truth yourself.”
Lauren grabbed her keys and asked for the location. She didn’t stop to think about what she might find. She only knew that if Shayla was telling the truth, her entire relationship had been a lie.
3. Lauren Walks In
Wayne stood in front of Yahya, speaking about love and choosing someone for the future. Yahya’s eyes glistened as the group watched. Then a voice came from the entrance.
“Wayne?”
Everyone turned. Lauren stood frozen, staring at the decorations and then at Yahya. Wayne’s face lost its color. Anthony looked away, and D’Nisha whispered, “Oh, no.”
Lauren walked toward them, tears already running down her cheeks. “Please tell me I’m misunderstanding what I’m seeing.”
4. “You Told Me We Were Committed!”
Wayne stepped toward Lauren, but she held up her hand. “Don’t come near me. You told me we were committed! You let me believe we had a future, and now you’re proposing to her in front of everyone?”
“Lauren, let me explain,” he pleaded.
“Explain the trip? The lies? Or why everybody here knew except me?” Her voice broke. “I didn’t come here to beg you to choose me. I came to hear you tell the truth.”
Wayne looked around for help, but nobody had an answer for her.
5. Yahya Fires Back
Yahya stepped forward. “I didn’t know he’d made promises to you. Wayne told me you two were over.”
Lauren stared at her. “And you believed him without asking questions?”
“I believed what he told me!” Yahya snapped. “You think I planned this to hurt you?”
“You’re accepting a proposal from the man I thought I was building a future with!” Lauren shouted.
Wayne moved between them. “Both of you, please!”
Lauren turned on him. “You created this mess, and now you want to control how we react?”
6. The Twist Nobody Expected
Amber suddenly spoke up. “Lauren isn’t the only person Wayne gave a different story to.”
Wayne’s expression hardened. “Amber, don’t.”
But she continued. Wayne had told the group that his relationship with Yahya had been settled for months. Yet he had recently told Lauren he needed time because he wanted to make their relationship official the right way.
“You told each of them what they wanted to hear,” Amber said. “You thought nobody would compare notes.”
Yahya’s smile disappeared. For the first time, she looked at Wayne as if she no longer knew him.
7. The Fight Breaks Out
Lauren turned toward Yahya again, overwhelmed by hurt. Yahya refused to accept all the blame. Their voices rose until they began shoving past each other, and the argument turned into a brief physical struggle.
Amber and D’Nisha rushed between them while Dave tried to calm everyone down. Wayne reached for Lauren, then Yahya, but neither would listen.
“Stop! Please!” Wayne shouted.
Lauren pulled away. “You don’t get to play the victim now!” Yahya looked at him, furious. “You put both of us in this position!” Wayne had no answer for either woman.
8. Anthony Demands the Truth
Anthony stepped directly in front of Wayne. “Did you tell Lauren you were committed to her while planning to propose to Yahya?”
Wayne opened his mouth, then hesitated.
“Answer him!” D’Nisha demanded.
“It’s complicated,” Wayne muttered.
Lauren let out a bitter laugh. “No. You made it complicated because telling the truth would have cost you something.” Yahya removed the ring from her hand and stared at it as if it suddenly meant nothing.
9. Yahya Returns the Ring
Yahya held the ring out. “I’m not accepting a future from someone who can’t be honest about his present.”
“Don’t make a decision because of one bad night,” Wayne said.
“One bad night? You planned a proposal without making sure your own story was true.” She placed the ring on the table and walked away. Lauren didn’t look pleased or victorious. She looked exhausted.
10. Lauren’s Final Question
Wayne followed Lauren toward the exit. “Please. Give me one chance to explain.”
She stopped. “If you loved me, why did I have to find out like this?”
He had no answer. Lauren faced him one last time. “I came here thinking I was losing you to another woman. Now I realize I may never have known the real you.”
Then she left, with Shayla close behind. The room fell silent, and Wayne stood beside the abandoned ring.
11. One Message Changes Everything
Yahya returned to collect her phone. Just then, a message from an unknown number lit up the screen. She read it—and her expression changed instantly.
“You said Lauren was the only one you were keeping in the dark,” Yahya whispered. “Then why does this message say there’s another woman—and that she has proof?”
Wayne went completely still. Anthony stepped closer. “What other woman, Wayne?”
Yahya turned the phone around, but before anyone could read the full message, the screen went dark.
