Scene: Isaiah’s House — Late Afternoon

The house is quiet. Brooke walks toward Isaiah’s front door, still upset and confused. She has been trying to reach him all day, but every call has gone unanswered. She takes a deep breath and knocks. The door opens. Brooke freezes when she realizes Isaiah is standing right there. For a moment, neither of them says anything. Brooke’s frustration quickly turns into anger.

BROOKE: So you were home this whole time?

Isaiah looks away, clearly annoyed that Brooke has shown up again.

ISAIAH: Why are you here, Brooke?

Brooke steps closer.

BROOKE: Why am I here? I came here earlier today. Your mom told me you weren’t home. She wouldn’t even let me see you. But now I come back, and suddenly you’re here.

Isaiah stays silent. Brooke’s voice becomes more emotional.

BROOKE: I’ve been calling you. You haven’t answered a single call. I’ve been sending you messages too, and you haven’t responded to any of them. Do you know how worried I was?
ISAIAH: Brooke, I told you I don’t want to talk.
BROOKE: No! You don’t get to ignore me and then act like nothing happened. I also heard something about you.
ISAIAH: What did you hear?
BROOKE: I heard that you have a new girlfriend.

Isaiah remains quiet. That silence tells Brooke everything she needs to know. Her eyes begin to fill with tears.

BROOKE: Is it true? Isaiah, I’m asking you a question. Do you have a new girlfriend?

Isaiah finally looks at her.

ISAIAH: Yes.

Brooke looks stunned. She takes a small step backward.

BROOKE: How could you do this to me? You told me you loved me. You told me I was the only girl you wanted. You told me you only loved me!
ISAIAH: Brooke, you need to stop.
BROOKE: No, I don’t! I gave you my trust. I believed everything you told me. And now I find out you’ve been ignoring me because you’re with somebody else?
ISAIAH: You’re making this bigger than it is.

Brooke laughs sadly through her tears.

BROOKE: Bigger than it is? You disappeared. You stopped answering my calls. You stopped replying to my messages. And your mom told me you weren’t even home when you were actually here.
ISAIAH: I didn’t ask you to keep coming over here.
BROOKE: I came because I cared about you. I thought something was wrong. I thought maybe you were hurt. I thought maybe you needed me. I never thought you were just ignoring me because you had another girl.

Brooke takes a step toward him.

BROOKE: Tell me the truth. Did you ever really love me?

There is a long silence. Brooke waits for his answer. Isaiah finally speaks.

ISAIAH: No. I said no. I never loved you the way you thought I did.
BROOKE: Then why did you tell me you loved me?
ISAIAH: Because I wanted to. I was only using you. I was just wasting my time with you.

Brooke becomes completely silent, then looks devastated.

BROOKE: So everything was a lie? Every phone call? Every message? Everything you told me?
ISAIAH: It doesn’t matter anymore.
BROOKE: It mattered to me. You mattered to me.

Isaiah turns toward the door.

ISAIAH: You need to leave.
BROOKE: You’re really telling me to leave after everything?
ISAIAH: Yes. Just go.

Brooke stands there for a few seconds. She looks at Isaiah one last time.

BROOKE: I trusted you. I really thought you loved me. I guess I was wrong.

Brooke slowly turns around and walks away from the house, trying to hold herself together. As soon as she gets farther from the door, she can no longer hide her emotions. She begins crying heavily, stops for a moment, and covers her face with her hands. The words Isaiah said keep replaying in her mind — he never loved her, he was only using her. Brooke wipes her tears, but they keep coming. She looks back toward Isaiah’s house.

BROOKE: Why did you make me believe you loved me?

There is no answer. Brooke lowers her head and continues walking. Her heart is broken, not only because Isaiah has another girlfriend, but because she now questions every moment they shared. She thought she was fighting for a relationship. Now she realizes she may have been fighting for someone who had already moved on. Brooke pulls out her phone. There are still unanswered messages on the screen. She looks at them for a few seconds. Then she locks her phone. She doesn’t call him again. She simply walks away.

Scene: Isaiah’s House — Continuous

Isaiah remains standing near the doorway. For a brief moment, he watches Brooke walk away. His expression remains difficult to read. He eventually closes the door. Outside, Brooke continues down the street, wiping away her tears. She takes one final look back at the house.

BROOKE: I deserved the truth from the beginning.

She turns around. This time, she doesn’t look back.
