Warm sunlight filters through the curtains. The house is silent. Kai’s toys are scattered across the floor while an uncomfortable tension fills every corner of the room.
SHAYLA
(Cold but controlled)
“D’Nisha… there’s something you need to understand.”

D’NISHA
(Shocked… then furious)

Kai’s laughter echoes softly from another room. Both women briefly look toward the sound before turning back to each other.

D’Nisha reaches into her purse and pulls out her cellphone. Her hands tremble with anger.

Red and blue emergency lights reflect through the windows as a police cruiser arrives outside.
