BROOKE’S SECRET ESCAPE
🎬 SCENE 1 — INT. BROOKE’S BEDROOM — EVENING
The room is quiet. Brooke sits on the edge of her bed, staring at her phone.
She looks emotionally exhausted after another difficult day with Larry and Sharra.
Brooke takes a deep breath and unlocks her phone.
She scrolls through her contacts until she finds Steve’s name.
After a moment of hesitation, she presses CALL.
The phone rings.
STEVE
Hello, Brooke? Is everything okay?
Brooke looks down, struggling to find the right words.
BROOKE
Steve… I really need to talk to you.
STEVE
Of course. What happened?
Brooke wipes away a tear and takes a shaky breath.
BROOKE
Larry and Sharra have been making things really difficult for me. I feel like I can’t deal with everything anymore.
STEVE
Brooke, slow down. Are you okay?
BROOKE
I’m okay… I just don’t want to stay here right now.
A long silence fills the room.
BROOKE
I want to come to your house.
STEVE
You want to come here?
BROOKE
Yes. I just need somewhere peaceful for a while.
STEVE
Okay. If you need some space, you can come over. But let’s make sure everything is handled safely.
BROOKE
Thank you, Steve.
🎬 SCENE 2 — INT. BROOKE’S BEDROOM — CONTINUOUS
Brooke lowers her voice.
She looks toward the hallway again.
BROOKE
Steve, there’s one more thing.
STEVE
What is it?
BROOKE
You can’t tell anyone that I’m coming to your house.
STEVE
Brooke, I understand that you want privacy, but I don’t want you to disappear without anyone knowing where you are.
BROOKE
I know. I just don’t want another argument with Larry or Sharra.
STEVE
I understand you’re upset. But we should handle this without making the situation worse.
BROOKE
Please, Steve. Just don’t tell them that I’m coming.
STEVE
Okay. I won’t announce it to everyone. But if you’re leaving, make sure you’re somewhere safe and that a trusted adult knows where you are.
BROOKE
Okay.
🎬 SCENE 3 — INT. STEVE’S HOUSE — EVENING
Steve sits on his couch, still holding his phone.
He looks thoughtful after the conversation.
A few seconds later, Brooke calls again.
STEVE
Hey, Brooke.
BROOKE
I’m coming over.
Steve sits up.
STEVE
All right. Come when you can, but don’t rush. Make sure you have a safe way to get here.
BROOKE
Okay.
STEVE
And Brooke?
BROOKE
Yeah?
STEVE
Whatever happened today, you don’t have to handle it alone.
BROOKE
Thank you. I really needed to hear that.
🎬 SCENE 4 — INT. BROOKE’S BEDROOM — NIGHT
Brooke ends the call.
She places the phone beside her and sits quietly for a moment.
Her anger slowly turns into determination.
She gathers a few personal belongings and puts them into a small bag.
Then she stops.
She looks at the bag, thinking about everything that has happened.
BROOKE
I just need some peace.
She picks up her phone again and checks the time.
STEVE: Let me know when you’re on your way.
BROOKE: Okay. Thank you.
She puts the phone away.
🎬 SCENE 5 — INT. HALLWAY — NIGHT
Brooke carefully steps into the hallway.
She hears voices coming from another room.
She stops.
Larry and Sharra are talking.
Brooke doesn’t want another confrontation.
She takes a breath and quietly walks toward the front door.
Before leaving, she looks back at the house.
BROOKE
I can’t keep arguing with everyone.
She opens the door.
Then she steps outside.
🎬 SCENE 6 — EXT. STREET — NIGHT
The street is calm.
Brooke stands outside with her phone in her hand.
She calls Steve.
STEVE
Are you okay?
BROOKE
Yes. I’m on my way.
STEVE
All right. Stay somewhere safe while you’re traveling. Call me if anything changes.
BROOKE
I will.
Brooke ends the call.
She looks ahead, taking a deep breath.
For the first time that evening, she feels like she can finally think clearly.
🎬 SCENE 7 — INT. STEVE’S HOUSE — LATER
Steve prepares the guest room.
He places a glass of water on the table and makes sure the room is comfortable.
He hears a knock at the door.
STEVE
Brooke…
BROOKE
I’m sorry for showing up like this.
STEVE
You don’t have to apologize.
Brooke steps inside.
BROOKE
I just needed somewhere I could breathe without everybody arguing with me.
STEVE
Then take some time to calm down.
BROOKE
Thank you for letting me come here.
STEVE
You’re welcome.
🎬 SCENE 8 — INT. STEVE’S LIVING ROOM — NIGHT
Brooke sits on the couch.
Steve sits across from her, giving her enough space to feel comfortable.
STEVE
Do you want to tell me what happened?
BROOKE
Larry and Sharra have been putting so much pressure on me. Every conversation turns into an argument.
STEVE
That sounds exhausting.
BROOKE
It is.
STEVE
But running away from a problem doesn’t always solve it.
BROOKE
I know.
STEVE
Tonight, just focus on calming down. Tomorrow, you can decide what you want to do next.
BROOKE
That’s all I wanted.
🎬 SCENE 9 — INT. STEVE’S HOUSE — LATE NIGHT
Brooke sits quietly, looking at her phone.
Several notifications appear.
She doesn’t answer them immediately.
STEVE
You don’t have to answer anyone while you’re upset.
BROOKE
I just don’t want things to get worse.
STEVE
Then let’s make sure your next decision is a calm one.
BROOKE
Okay.
She finally puts her phone down.
Her shoulders relax.
For the first time all day, Brooke isn’t arguing with anyone.
She simply sits quietly.
🎬 SCENE 10 — INT. STEVE’S HOUSE — MORNING
Morning sunlight enters through the window.
Brooke wakes up after a restless night.
She looks calmer than before.
STEVE
Morning. How are you feeling?
BROOKE
Better.
STEVE
Good. Now we can think about what happens next.
Brooke nods.
She knows that hiding from the problem isn’t the answer.
But for one night, she had found the space she needed to breathe.
She looks at her phone again.
There are still difficult conversations waiting for her.
But this time, Brooke feels ready to face them calmly.
