BROOKE CONFRONTS ISAIAH

SCENE 1 — BROOKE’S ROOM — EVENING

The room is quiet.

Soft evening light filters through the curtains. BROOKE sits on the edge of her bed, scrolling through her phone.

Suddenly, her phone begins to ring.

She looks at the screen.

ISAIAH.

Brooke hesitates before answering.

She takes a deep breath and picks up.

BROOKE

Hello?

Isaiah’s voice immediately sounds angry on the other end.

ISAIAH

Brooke, what was that?

Brooke frowns.

BROOKE

What are you talking about?

Isaiah takes a sharp breath.

ISAIAH

You know exactly what I’m talking about. You slapped me.

Brooke’s expression changes.

She sits up straight.

BROOKE

Isaiah, you deserved it.

There is a brief silence.

Isaiah sounds even more frustrated.

ISAIAH

You had no right to put your hands on me!

Brooke clenches her jaw.

BROOKE

And you had no right to push me that far.

Isaiah shakes his head on the other end of the call.

ISAIAH

You think you can just slap me and walk away?

Brooke stands from the bed.

BROOKE

I’m not scared of you.

Isaiah’s voice becomes cold.

ISAIAH

You should be.

Brooke pauses.

Her eyes narrow.

BROOKE

Are you trying to threaten me?

ISAIAH

I’m telling you that you need to watch yourself.

Brooke looks toward the door.

Her anger is clearly growing.

BROOKE

You called me just to lecture me?

ISAIAH

I called because I want you to understand something. You don’t get to treat me however you want.

Brooke laughs bitterly.

BROOKE

And you don’t get to control me.

Isaiah becomes silent.

Brooke ends the call.

She stares at her phone for several seconds.

Her breathing becomes heavier.

Then she grabs her jacket.

She has made a decision.

SCENE 2 — OUTSIDE ISAIAH’S HOUSE — NIGHT

The sky is dark.

Brooke arrives outside Isaiah’s house.

She steps out and closes the door behind her.

Her expression is determined.

She walks toward the entrance.

After a moment, Isaiah opens the door.

He looks surprised to see her.

ISAIAH

Brooke?

Brooke steps closer.

BROOKE

You wanted to talk?

Isaiah looks at her angrily.

ISAIAH

I told you to watch yourself.

Brooke doesn’t move.

BROOKE

And I told you I’m not scared of you.

Isaiah steps outside and closes the door behind him.

ISAIAH

Then why did you come here?

Brooke looks directly into his eyes.

BROOKE

Because I’m done listening to you talk like you own me.

Isaiah scoffs.

ISAIAH

You really think you can come here and tell me what to do?

BROOKE

No.

She takes another step toward him.

BROOKE

I’m here to make sure you understand what I said.

Isaiah’s expression hardens.

ISAIAH

And what exactly did you say?

Brooke points toward him.

BROOKE

You stay away from me.

Isaiah shakes his head.

ISAIAH

You came all the way here just to say that?

BROOKE

Yes.

A tense silence fills the air.

SCENE 3 — ISAIAH’S FRONT YARD — CONTINUOUS

Isaiah crosses his arms.

ISAIAH

You think you’re tough now?

Brooke doesn’t back down.

BROOKE

I’m not trying to be tough.

She takes a breath.

BROOKE

I’m trying to make you understand that you cannot scare me.

Isaiah looks away for a moment.

ISAIAH

You slapped me.

BROOKE

Because you crossed the line.

Isaiah looks back at her.

ISAIAH

And now what?

Brooke’s voice becomes firm.

BROOKE

Now you leave me alone.

Isaiah laughs sarcastically.

ISAIAH

And if I don’t?

Brooke’s expression becomes serious.

BROOKE

Then you’ll find out that I’m not the person you can intimidate.

Isaiah takes a step closer.

Brooke remains where she is.

The tension between them rises.

ISAIAH

You really think I’m going to be afraid of you?

BROOKE

I’m not asking you to be afraid.

She pauses.

BROOKE

I’m telling you to respect me.

Isaiah stares at her.

For a moment, neither speaks.

SCENE 4 — THE CONFRONTATION

Brooke looks around the yard before turning back toward Isaiah.

BROOKE

You called me and yelled at me because I slapped you.

Isaiah nods.

ISAIAH

Exactly.

BROOKE

But you still haven’t asked yourself why I did it.

Isaiah remains silent.

BROOKE

You kept pushing me.

ISAIAH

That doesn’t give you the right to hit me.

BROOKE

And your behavior doesn’t give you the right to control me.

Isaiah looks frustrated.

ISAIAH

I never said I controlled you.

Brooke immediately responds.

BROOKE

You don’t have to say it.

She shakes her head.

BROOKE

The way you talk to me says enough.

Isaiah looks at her for a long moment.

His anger slowly turns into frustration.

ISAIAH

So what do you want from me?

Brooke answers without hesitation.

BROOKE

I want you to understand that I’m making my own choices.

Isaiah looks confused.

ISAIAH

What choices?

Brooke takes a breath.

BROOKE

Who I talk to.

She pauses.

BROOKE

Where I go.

Another pause.

BROOKE

And who I choose to be around.

Isaiah’s expression tightens.

ISAIAH

So you’re saying you’re going to go running to somebody else?

Brooke shakes her head.

BROOKE

I’m saying you don’t get to decide who I can be around.

Isaiah looks away.

SCENE 5 — BROOKE’S FINAL WARNING

Brooke steps closer, but keeps her distance.

Her voice becomes calm and firm.

BROOKE

Isaiah, listen to me carefully.

Isaiah looks at her.

BROOKE

I don’t want another argument.

She points toward the house.

BROOKE

I don’t want another phone call where you yell at me.

She lowers her hand.

BROOKE

And I definitely don’t want you threatening me.

Isaiah remains quiet.

BROOKE

If you want me to respect you, then respect me first.

Isaiah looks at her.

For the first time, he doesn’t have an immediate response.

Brooke turns around.

She starts walking away.

ISAIAH

Brooke!

She stops but doesn’t turn around.

ISAIAH

Are you seriously just going to walk away?

Brooke slowly looks back.

BROOKE

Yes.

She gives him one final look.

BROOKE

Because this conversation is over.

Brooke walks away.

Isaiah watches her leave.

His expression is filled with anger and frustration.

SCENE 6 — OUTSIDE — MOMENTS LATER

Brooke reaches her car.

She opens the door but pauses before getting inside.

She looks back toward Isaiah’s house.

Her anger is still there, but she remains composed.

She whispers to herself.

BROOKE

I’m not letting anyone control me.

She gets into the car.

The engine starts.

Brooke drives away.

Isaiah remains standing outside his house, watching the car disappear into the distance.

The street becomes quiet again.

He looks down, thinking about everything Brooke said.

His anger slowly turns into uncertainty.

The conflict between them is far from over.

FADE OUT.
