A New Hope, A Broken Trust

A New Hope, A Broken Trust

Mariya and Isaiah had finally reached Hope and Faith’s house.

The evening was quiet. Warm golden light spilled through the windows, while the peaceful atmosphere made everything feel almost normal again.

Mariya smiled as she looked around.

MARIYA

“After everything we’ve been through, it feels good to finally be here.”

Isaiah nodded, but his expression remained thoughtful.

ISAIAH

“Sometimes you have to leave the past behind before you can see what the future has waiting for you.”

Mariya smiled softly.

MARIYA

“Maybe this is the fresh start we needed.”

Hope and Faith welcomed them inside. For a few moments, laughter filled the room.

But none of them noticed Lacreesha standing outside.

She had followed them.

She remained near the window, watching everything carefully.

Her expression changed when she saw Isaiah standing beside Mariya.

LACREESHA

“So this is what he’s been doing…”

Her voice was filled with anger.

She immediately pulled out her phone.

There was only one person she wanted to call.

Brooke.

The phone rang.

BROOKE

“Hello? What happened?”

Lacreesha spoke quickly, almost breathlessly.

LACREESHA

“You need to come here right now. I just found out something about Isaiah.”

BROOKE

“What did you find out?”

Lacreesha looked through the window again.

LACREESHA

“He’s with Mariya. They’re at Hope and Faith’s house together.”

There was a short silence.

BROOKE

“What?”

LACREESHA

“I’m telling you, Brooke. You need to come here.”

BROOKE

“I’m coming.”

She ended the call.

Minutes later, Brooke arrived.

She stepped out and walked toward the house with determination.

Lacreesha met her outside.

BROOKE

“Where is he?”

Lacreesha pointed toward the house.

LACREESHA

“Inside.”

Brooke took a deep breath.

BROOKE

“I want to hear this from him.”

She walked inside.

The room immediately fell silent.

Mariya looked surprised.

Isaiah slowly turned around.

Brooke stared directly at him. Her eyes were filled with disappointment.

BROOKE

“Isaiah.”

Isaiah looked uncomfortable.

ISAIAH

“Brooke…”

She stepped closer.

BROOKE

“Don’t just say my name. Answer me.”

Everyone remained silent.

BROOKE

“Why did you leave me?”

Isaiah looked down for a moment.

Mariya watched him carefully.

Brooke’s voice trembled with emotion.

BROOKE

“I trusted you. I stood beside you when everything was falling apart. And you just walked away without giving me a real answer.”

Isaiah finally looked at her.

His expression was calm, but his words were cold.

ISAIAH

“Because I met a good girl.”

Brooke froze.

Mariya looked shocked by his words.

Isaiah continued.

ISAIAH

“And now I don’t need you anymore.”

The room became completely silent.

Brooke stared at him as if she could not believe what she had just heard.

BROOKE

“You don’t need me anymore?”

Isaiah said nothing.

Brooke gave a small, painful laugh.

BROOKE

“That’s really your answer?”

Isaiah remained silent.

BROOKE

“After everything we shared, that’s all I mean to you?”

Isaiah looked away.

Mariya finally stepped forward.

MARIYA

“Isaiah, maybe you shouldn’t speak to her like this.”

Isaiah looked at Mariya.

ISAIAH

“This is between Brooke and me.”

Brooke wiped away her tears and steadied herself.

BROOKE

“No. It stopped being between us when you decided to replace me without even telling me the truth.”

Isaiah frowned.

ISAIAH

“I made my choice.”

Brooke nodded slowly.

BROOKE

“Yes. You did.”

She looked at Mariya.

There was no anger in her eyes now—only disappointment.

BROOKE

“I hope you know what kind of choice you’re making.”

Mariya lowered her eyes.

MARIYA

“I never wanted to hurt you.”

Brooke took a step back.

BROOKE

“Maybe you didn’t. But someone did.”

She looked at Isaiah one final time.

BROOKE

“I came here because I wanted an explanation.”

Her voice became steadier.

BROOKE

“Now I have one.”

Brooke turned toward the door.

Lacreesha followed her outside.

The moment the door closed behind them, Brooke stopped.

LACREESHA

“Are you okay?”

Brooke took a deep breath.

BROOKE

“No.”

She looked back at the house.

BROOKE

“But I will be.”

Inside, Isaiah stood silently.

Mariya looked at him with concern.

MARIYA

“Was that really necessary?”

Isaiah did not answer immediately.

Hope and Faith exchanged worried glances.

For the first time, Isaiah seemed to realize how deeply his words had hurt Brooke.

Outside, Brooke walked away.

Lacreesha stayed beside her.

The night air was cold, but Brooke kept moving forward.

She had come looking for answers.

Instead, she had discovered something more painful.

Sometimes the hardest goodbye was not the one you said. It was the one someone else forced you to accept.

And somewhere behind her, the door to the past had finally closed.

But Brooke did not know yet that her story was far from over.

Because the truth about Isaiah’s decision was still hidden.

And when that truth finally came out, everything would change.
