BROOKE AND DESTINY HEAD TO STEVE
SCENE 1 — BROOKE’S HOUSE — LIVING ROOM — AFTERNOON
Soft afternoon sunlight fills the living room.
Brooke stands near the couch, holding her phone. She looks focused but slightly nervous.
She takes a deep breath and calls Destiny.
The phone rings.
Destiny answers.
DESTINY
“Hey, Brooke. What’s going on?”
Brooke looks toward the front door.
BROOKE
“I’m leaving the house. I’m heading toward Steve’s place.”
Destiny sits up immediately.
DESTINY
“Okay. You go from your side, and I’ll come from mine.”
Brooke nods, even though Destiny cannot see her.
BROOKE
“Yeah. We’ll meet there.”
DESTINY
“Sounds good. I’m getting ready now.”
BROOKE
“Alright. Just hurry.”
They hang up.
Brooke lowers her phone.
For a moment, she stands silently, thinking about everything that has happened.
She grabs her purse and walks toward the door.
Before leaving, she looks around the house one more time.
Then she steps outside.
The door closes behind her.
SCENE 2 — DESTINY’S HOUSE — BEDROOM — AFTERNOON
Destiny stands in front of her closet, quickly gathering her things.
Her phone is still in her hand.
She looks at the time.
DESTINY
“I don’t want to be late.”
She grabs a bag from the bed and starts putting a few things inside.
Her movements are quick.
She checks her phone again.
No new messages.
Destiny takes a deep breath.
She picks up her bag and walks out of the bedroom.
SCENE 3 — DESTINY’S HOUSE — HALLWAY — CONTINUOUS
Destiny walks down the hallway with her bag over her shoulder.
She stops for a second and looks back toward her room.
She seems unsure.
Then she shakes her head.
DESTINY
“I’m going.”
She walks toward the front door.
Destiny opens it and steps outside.
She locks the door behind her.
Then she starts walking toward her car.
SCENE 4 — BROOKE’S CAR — AFTERNOON
Brooke sits behind the wheel.
She starts the car.
Her phone connects to the system.
She thinks about calling Steve.
After a moment, she taps his name.
The phone rings.
Steve answers.
STEVE
“Hey, Brooke.”
BROOKE
“Hey. I wanted to let you know that Destiny and I are coming your way.”
Steve sounds surprised.
STEVE
“Both of you?”
BROOKE
“Yeah. Destiny is coming too.”
Steve pauses for a moment.
STEVE
“Okay. Where are you guys meeting me?”
Brooke looks ahead through the windshield.
BROOKE
“We’re going to meet you at the airport.”
Steve nods.
STEVE
“Alright. I’ll be there waiting for you.”
BROOKE
“Okay. Just make sure you’re there.”
Steve laughs softly.
STEVE
“I’ll be there.”
Brooke smiles.
BROOKE
“Alright. See you soon.”
They hang up.
Brooke puts the phone down.
She takes another deep breath and pulls away from the driveway.
SCENE 5 — DESTINY’S CAR — AFTERNOON
Destiny drives with her bag sitting beside her.
She looks serious.
Her phone rings.
It’s Brooke.
Destiny answers through the car system.
DESTINY
“Hey.”
BROOKE
“I just talked to Steve.”
Destiny smiles.
DESTINY
“What did he say?”
BROOKE
“He knows we’re coming. He’s going to meet us at the airport.”
Destiny nods.
DESTINY
“Perfect.”
Brooke looks through the windshield.
BROOKE
“How far are you?”
DESTINY
“I’m already on my way.”
BROOKE
“Good. I’ll see you at the airport.”
DESTINY
“Alright. See you there.”
The call ends.
Destiny grips the steering wheel.
She looks ahead.
DESTINY
“Let’s get there.”
She continues driving.
SCENE 6 — AIRPORT — OUTSIDE TERMINAL — LATE AFTERNOON
Cars move through the airport entrance.
People walk in and out of the terminal carrying luggage.
Steve stands near the pickup area.
He checks his phone.
He looks toward the road.
He is waiting patiently.
A few moments later, Brooke’s car pulls into the area.
Steve recognizes her immediately.
Brooke parks and steps out.
She grabs her bag.
Steve walks toward her.
STEVE
“Brooke!”
Brooke smiles.
BROOKE
“Hey, Steve.”
They greet each other.
Steve looks around.
STEVE
“Where’s Destiny?”
Brooke looks toward the entrance.
BROOKE
“She should be here soon.”
Steve nods.
STEVE
“Alright. I’ll wait.”
Brooke stands beside him.
She looks relieved to finally be there.
SCENE 7 — AIRPORT — PICKUP AREA — MOMENTS LATER
Another car pulls up.
Destiny steps out with her bag.
She looks around.
Then she spots Brooke.
A smile appears on her face.
DESTINY
“Brooke!”
Brooke turns around.
BROOKE
“There you are!”
Destiny walks toward them.
She hugs Brooke.
DESTINY
“I thought I was going to be late.”
BROOKE
“No, you made it.”
Steve smiles as he watches them.
STEVE
“Alright, now that everybody’s here, are we ready?”
Destiny looks at Brooke.
DESTINY
“I’m ready.”
Brooke nods.
BROOKE
“Me too.”
Steve takes one of their bags.
STEVE
“Come on. Let’s get going.”
They begin walking toward the car.
SCENE 8 — STEVE’S CAR — EVENING
Brooke and Destiny sit inside the car.
Steve gets behind the wheel.
He looks at them through the rearview mirror.
STEVE
“Everybody good?”
Brooke smiles.
BROOKE
“Yeah. We’re good.”
Destiny adjusts her bag.
DESTINY
“I’m just glad we finally made it here.”
Steve starts the engine.
The car slowly pulls away from the airport.
Brooke looks out the window.
Destiny looks at her.
For a moment, neither of them says anything.
There is a quiet sense of relief between them.
DESTINY
“So… what’s next?”
Brooke looks toward Steve.
Steve smiles slightly.
STEVE
“We’ll figure it out.”
Brooke nods.
BROOKE
“As long as we’re together, we’ll be alright.”
Destiny smiles.
The car continues down the road as the airport disappears behind them.
SCENE 9 — ROAD — EVENING
The sun begins to set.
Golden light shines through the car windows.
Steve drives calmly.
Brooke and Destiny talk quietly in the back seat.
The tension from earlier seems to be fading.
Destiny looks at Brooke.
DESTINY
“I’m glad you called me.”
Brooke smiles.
BROOKE
“I knew I needed you with me.”
Destiny reaches over and squeezes Brooke’s hand.
DESTINY
“I’ve got you.”
Brooke looks at her and smiles.
Steve watches them through the mirror.
STEVE
“You two ready for whatever comes next?”
Brooke and Destiny look at each other.
Then they both smile.
BROOKE
“Absolutely.”
DESTINY
“Let’s do it.”
Steve turns his attention back to the road.
The car drives into the evening.
The three of them continue forward together, not knowing exactly what awaits them, but ready to face whatever comes next.
