Opening Scene
The evening was unusually quiet.
Larry sat alone in his living room, staring at his phone as it buzzed once again.
The screen showed Bethany’s name.
He sighed heavily before answering.
Bethany: 📱 “Hey, Larry… My flight lands in about an hour. Are you still coming to pick me up?”
Larry closed his eyes for a moment.
His heart felt heavier than ever.
Larry: “Bethany… I don’t think I’m coming.”
A long silence followed.
Bethany: “What do you mean you’re not coming? You’ve always picked me up.”
Larry: “Things aren’t the same anymore.”
Bethany: “Larry… what’s going on? You’re scaring me.”
Larry: “I’ve been trying to ignore these feelings for a long time, but I can’t pretend anymore.”
Bethany: “What feelings?”
Larry: “My heart isn’t where it used to be.”
The Truth Comes Out
Bethany: “Are you saying… you don’t love me anymore?”
Larry: “I care about you, Bethany. I always will. But my heart has changed.”
Bethany: “After everything we’ve been through… this is how it ends?”
Larry: “I never wanted to hurt you. I kept hoping my feelings would come back, but they never did.”
Bethany: “So you’ve just given up on us?”
Larry: “No… I stopped lying to myself.”
The Question She Feared
Bethany: “Is there someone else?”
Larry: “Yes.”
Bethany: “Who?”
Larry: “Sharra.”
Everything became silent.
Bethany couldn’t believe what she had just heard.
Bethany: “Sharra…?”
Larry: “Somewhere along the way, my feelings changed. I didn’t plan for it to happen. It just did.”
Bethany: “So while I was trying to save this relationship… you were falling in love with someone else?”
Larry: “I never meant for any of this to happen.”
Bethany: “It still happened.”
Larry’s Final Decision
Larry: “Bethany… I think Sharra is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with.”
Bethany: “You’re saying you want to marry her?”
Larry: “Yes.”
Everything Bethany believed in suddenly fell apart.
Bethany: “I waited for you… defended you… believed in us… and now you’re telling me you’ve chosen someone else.”
Larry: “I’m sorry.”
Bethany: “Sorry doesn’t fix a broken heart.”

Bethany: “Don’t come to the airport. I’ll find my own way home.”
Larry: “I truly hope one day you find someone who loves you the way you deserve.”
Bethany: “Maybe I will… but it won’t be you.”

Larry slowly lowered his phone.
The room felt emptier than ever.
