The house is unusually quiet. Amber stands near the kitchen counter when a sudden, sharp pain strikes her stomach. She grabs the counter, struggling to remain on her feet.

AMBER

Oh God… what’s happening to me? Why does my stomach hurt so much?

Dave enters the room and immediately notices that something is wrong.

DAVE

AMBER

DAVE

This is the happiest news I’ve ever received!

Dave hurries into Amber’s room, unable to hide his excitement.

Dave gently takes her hands and kisses her forehead.

DAVE

The staff member explains that Amber’s private medical information cannot be disclosed without her authorization. Anthony ends the call, visibly shaken.

ANTHONY

Amber, what are you hiding from me?

He sends her another message.

At the hospital, Amber sees the message. Dave is sitting beside her, smiling as he searches online for baby names. She quickly turns her phone face down.

DAVE

AMBER

No one. Just a message.

Dave studies her expression. For the first time since hearing the pregnancy news, a trace of uncertainty crosses his face.
