Brooke’s House — Late Afternoon
The house is unusually quiet. Brooke stands near the window, looking outside with a troubled expression. She seems distracted, as if she has been thinking about the same person all day.
A knock comes at the door. Brooke quickly walks over and opens it. Cameron is standing outside.
BROOKE: Come in. I need to talk to you about something.
Cameron steps inside and looks at her curiously.
CAMERON: You sounded serious on the phone. What’s going on?
Brooke closes the door behind him. She takes a deep breath before speaking.
BROOKE: I want to get back at Isaiah.
Cameron’s expression changes.
CAMERON: Get back at him? Why?
Brooke looks away for a moment, clearly frustrated.
BROOKE: I don’t even know what to do anymore. I just know I want him to realize how much he hurt me.
Cameron watches her carefully.
CAMERON: Brooke, revenge can make things worse.
BROOKE: Maybe. But I’m tired of being the one who gets hurt.
She turns toward Cameron. There is a moment of silence.
BROOKE: That’s why I need you to help me.
CAMERON: How?
Brooke hesitates before finally saying what is on her mind.
BROOKE: I want you to be in a relationship with me.
Cameron freezes.
CAMERON: Wait… you want me to date you?
Brooke nods.
BROOKE: Yes. I want Isaiah to see that I can move on.
Cameron looks uncomfortable with the idea.
CAMERON: Are you sure this is what you really want?
Brooke looks directly into his eyes.
BROOKE: I am.
Cameron takes a moment to think. Finally, he nods.
CAMERON: Okay. I’ll do it.
Brooke’s expression softens.
BROOKE: Thank you.
Outside Brooke’s House — Evening
The conversation is over. Cameron walks toward the door, preparing to leave. Brooke follows him.
CAMERON: I should probably head home.
BROOKE: Okay.
Cameron opens the door. Suddenly, Brooke looks toward the street. Her eyes widen. Someone is approaching the house. It’s Isaiah. Brooke immediately recognizes him.
BROOKE: Isaiah…
Cameron turns around.
CAMERON: What?
Brooke quickly steps closer to the window. Isaiah is walking toward the house. Brooke’s mind starts racing. She realizes this could be the exact moment she was waiting for. She turns toward Cameron.
BROOKE: Don’t leave yet.
CAMERON: Why?
Brooke grabs Cameron’s hand and pulls him back toward her. Cameron looks surprised.
CAMERON: Brooke, what are you doing?
BROOKE: Just trust me.
Brooke takes both of Cameron’s hands in hers. She moves closer to him. Cameron looks confused, but he doesn’t pull away. Outside, Isaiah continues walking toward the house. Brooke glances toward the window. She knows Isaiah can see them. Then Brooke turns back toward Cameron and kisses him. Cameron is completely caught off guard. For a moment, everything seems to stop.
Outside the House — Continuous
Isaiah reaches the front of the property. He looks toward the house. Through the window, he sees Brooke and Cameron together. Isaiah suddenly stops walking. His face changes from confusion to complete shock.
ISAIAH: Brooke…?
He cannot believe what he is seeing. Inside, Brooke notices Isaiah standing outside. She slowly pulls away from Cameron. Cameron looks at her.
CAMERON: Was that what you wanted him to see?
Brooke doesn’t answer immediately. Her eyes remain fixed on Isaiah. Isaiah stands frozen. His expression reveals that he never expected to see Brooke with someone else.
ISAIAH: What is going on?
Brooke walks toward the door. Cameron remains behind her. She opens it. Isaiah looks directly at her.
ISAIAH: Brooke, are you serious?
Brooke keeps her composure.
BROOKE: What does it look like?
Isaiah looks past her toward Cameron. His expression becomes even more stunned.
ISAIAH: So this is what you’re doing now?
Brooke folds her arms.
BROOKE: You made your choices, Isaiah.
ISAIAH: And now you’re trying to hurt me?
Brooke pauses. Her confidence begins to fade slightly. For a second, she looks conflicted. But she quickly hides it.
BROOKE: Maybe you should know how it feels.
Isaiah shakes his head.
ISAIAH: I didn’t think you would do this.
Cameron watches the two of them silently. He begins to realize that this is much more emotional than he expected.
The Confrontation
Isaiah takes a step closer.
ISAIAH: Is Cameron really your boyfriend?
Brooke looks at Cameron. Cameron looks back at her. There is an awkward silence.
BROOKE: Yes.
Isaiah’s face drops. He looks away, trying to process what he just heard.
ISAIAH: Wow.
Brooke watches him carefully. For a moment, she gets the reaction she wanted. But instead of feeling victorious, she looks uneasy.
CAMERON: Brooke…
She turns toward him.
CAMERON: Are you sure this is what you want?
Brooke doesn’t respond. Isaiah notices the hesitation.
ISAIAH: So this was all a plan?
Brooke looks at him.
BROOKE: I wanted you to see that I can move on.
Isaiah lets out a quiet breath.
ISAIAH: You didn’t have to prove anything to me.
Brooke’s expression changes. His words hit harder than she expected. Cameron steps back, giving them space.
CAMERON: I think you two need to talk.
Cameron walks away from the doorway. Brooke remains standing there. Isaiah looks at her one last time.
ISAIAH: I hope you’re happy, Brooke.
He turns around and starts walking away. Brooke watches him leave. Her face becomes emotional. The revenge she imagined suddenly feels very different now that she has seen the pain on Isaiah’s face. She looks back at Cameron.
BROOKE: I thought this would make me feel better.
Cameron gives her a sympathetic look.
CAMERON: Sometimes revenge doesn’t give you the closure you think it will.
Brooke looks toward the road. Isaiah is already disappearing into the distance. She remains silent. The door slowly closes.
Revenge is a mirror — you aim it at someone else, and it shows you your own reflection first.
