Kai’s Father Forces Him to Leave D’Nisha
Summary
Kai’s father arrives at D’Nisha’s house and demands that she send Kai home with him. When D’Nisha refuses to let him take Kai without his consent, his father’s ego is hurt. He storms into Kai’s bedroom, grabs his son, and forces him to leave. Despite D’Nisha’s desperate attempts to stop him, Kai’s father takes him away, leaving D’Nisha heartbroken and Kai helpless.
The afternoon sun shines through the living room windows. D’Nisha sits on the couch, scrolling through her phone, when a loud knock comes from the front door.
She places her phone on the table and opens the door. Kai’s father stands outside with a stern expression on his face.
D’NISHA
Mr. Kai? Is everything okay? Why are you here?
KAI’S FATHER
I need to talk to you about something important. Where is Kai?
D’NISHA
He’s resting in his room. But why are you asking about him?
KAI’S FATHER
I have come to take my son home. Tell him to get ready. He is coming with me today.
D’Nisha stares at him in surprise.
D’NISHA
What? Take him home? Why? Kai is perfectly fine here.
KAI’S FATHER
That is none of your concern. He is my son, and I have every right to decide where he lives.
D’NISHA
You cannot simply walk into this house and order him to leave. Kai has his own life and his own decisions to make.
KAI’S FATHER
Listen carefully, young lady. I did not come here to argue with you. I came to take my son home.
D’NISHA
And I am telling you that he will not go anywhere unless he wants to.
Kai’s father’s expression hardens. He feels insulted by D’Nisha’s refusal.
KAI’S FATHER
You seem to have forgotten who you are talking to.
D’NISHA
No, I know exactly who I am talking to. But that does not mean you can control everyone around you.
KAI’S FATHER
I will not allow you to turn my son against his own family!
D’NISHA
I have never stopped Kai from seeing his family. You are the one who came here and started giving orders!
KAI’S FATHER
Enough! I am not going to stand here and listen to your nonsense.
D’NISHA
Then listen to Kai instead. He is old enough to tell you what he wants.
KAI’S FATHER
You think my son will refuse me? He knows better than that.
D’NISHA
Then ask him yourself. If he wants to go with you, let him say it in front of me.
Kai’s father turns toward the hallway.
KAI’S FATHER
Fine. I will ask him myself.
D’Nisha quickly moves in front of him, blocking his path.
D’NISHA
Wait! You are not going to drag him out of here.
KAI’S FATHER
Move out of my way.
D’NISHA
Not until you promise me that you will talk to him calmly.
KAI’S FATHER
I said move!
D’NISHA
And I said no!
His face turns red with anger. He pushes past her and marches toward Kai’s bedroom. D’Nisha hurries after him.
Kai is sitting on the edge of his bed, looking at his phone, when his bedroom door suddenly swings open.
KAI
Dad? What are you doing here?
KAI’S FATHER
Get up. We are leaving.
KAI
Leaving? Where are we going?
KAI’S FATHER
Home. Go and get your things.
KAI
But why? I never said I wanted to go anywhere.
KAI’S FATHER
I am not asking you what you want. I am telling you what is going to happen.
Kai looks toward D’Nisha, who stands anxiously near the doorway.
KAI
D’Nisha, what happened?
D’NISHA
Your father came here and demanded that you go home with him. I told him that he needed to speak to you first, but he refused to listen.
KAI
Dad, you cannot just show up and force me to leave. At least tell me what is going on.
KAI’S FATHER
I do not need to explain myself to you. I am your father, and you will do as I say.
KAI
I respect you, Dad, but that does not mean you can make every decision for me.
Kai’s father looks furious. He believes his son is challenging his authority.
KAI’S FATHER
So this is what she has taught you? To disrespect your own father?
KAI
No! D’Nisha has nothing to do with this. This is between you and me.
KAI’S FATHER
Then prove it. Get your things and come with me.
KAI
I am not going anywhere until you tell me why you suddenly want to take me away.
Kai’s father loses patience. He grabs Kai by the arm and pulls him toward the doorway.
KAI
Dad! Let go of me!
D’NISHA
Stop it! You are hurting him!
KAI’S FATHER
You are coming with me. This discussion is over!
KAI
I said let go!
D’Nisha grabs Kai’s other arm, desperately trying to prevent his father from taking him away.
D’NISHA
Please, stop! You cannot treat him like this. He is your son, not your prisoner!
KAI’S FATHER
Stay out of this! You have already interfered enough!
D’NISHA
I will not stand here and watch you force him to leave!
KAI’S FATHER
You should have thought about that before you decided to challenge me!
He pulls Kai toward the hallway again. D’Nisha follows close behind, holding Kai’s hand.
KAI
D’Nisha, please! Don’t let him take me!
D’NISHA
I’m trying, Kai! I promise I am!
D’NISHA
Please listen to me. If you want him to come home, ask him properly. Do not force him to leave like this.
KAI’S FATHER
I gave him an opportunity to obey me. He chose to argue instead.
D’NISHA
Because he deserves to make his own choices!
KAI’S FATHER
That is enough!
He pulls Kai toward the front door. Kai looks back at D’Nisha, his expression filled with helplessness.
KAI
D’Nisha, I’ll call you, okay? Don’t worry about me!
D’NISHA
Kai, please! Don’t go with him if you don’t want to!
Kai’s father refuses to stop. He reaches the front door and pulls it open.
KAI
Dad, stop! I don’t want to leave like this!
KAI’S FATHER
You can be angry with me all you want. You are still coming home.
D’Nisha rushes forward and stands between them and the doorway.
D’NISHA
No! You are not taking him away without letting him speak!
KAI’S FATHER
Move aside for the last time.
D’NISHA
I cannot believe you are doing this to your own son!
KAI’S FATHER
And I cannot believe you think you have the right to tell me how to raise him!
D’Nisha looks at Kai, tears rolling down her cheeks.
D’NISHA
Kai, tell him you want to stay. Tell him he cannot force you to leave!
KAI
Dad, please. Let’s just sit down and talk about this. There is no reason for you to take me away like this.
For a moment, Kai’s father hesitates. Then his wounded pride wins, and he pulls Kai outside.
KAI’S FATHER
We are leaving. Now!
D’NISHA
KAI!
D’Nisha runs after them, pleading with Kai’s father to stop. But he continues toward his car, keeping a firm hold on his son.
KAI
D’Nisha, I’ll call you!
D’NISHA
Please don’t let him keep you away from me!
Kai’s father opens the passenger door and orders him inside. Kai hesitates, looking back at D’Nisha.
KAI’S FATHER
Get in!
Reluctantly, Kai gets into the car. His father closes the door.
D’Nisha rushes toward the vehicle, knocking desperately on the passenger window.
D’NISHA
Please! Don’t do this! Kai hasn’t done anything wrong!
Kai presses his hand against the window, staring at her with a heartbroken expression.
His father gets into the driver’s seat and starts the engine. D’Nisha steps back as the car begins moving.
D’NISHA
Kai! Please come back!
The car turns onto the street and disappears around the corner.
D’Nisha stands frozen, tears streaming down her face. She slowly sinks onto the front steps, covering her mouth with one trembling hand.
She never imagined that a single refusal would lead to Kai being taken away from her.
Inside the moving car, Kai stares out the window, his eyes filled with anger and sadness. His father keeps both hands on the steering wheel, refusing to look at him.
Neither of them speaks.
But Kai knows one thing for certain: this is not over.
D’Nisha, sitting alone outside the house, knows she cannot simply let him disappear from her life.
