Love, Jealousy, and a Choice

Joel Makes His Move

The late afternoon sun bathed the neighborhood in gold.

Joel’s car rolled to a smooth stop outside Sharra’s house. He sat there for a moment, hands gripping the steering wheel, his heart pounding harder than he expected. He had practiced this moment a hundred times in his head—but reality felt heavier.

Taking a deep breath, he stepped out, straightened his jacket, and walked toward the door carrying more than just nerves. He carried certainty.

Today, he would change both their lives.

A Question That Stops Time

Sharra opened the door, surprised to see him.

“Joel? What are you—” she began, but her words faded as he gently took her hand.

Without hesitation, Joel pulled out a small velvet box. When it opened, the ring inside shimmered like captured starlight. He dropped to one knee, his voice steady but emotional.

“Sharra, I can’t imagine my life without you. Will you marry me?”

Her breath caught. Memories flooded her—laughter, arguments, healing, late-night confessions. Everything led to this moment.

Love stood quietly, waiting for her answer.

Larry Appears

A voice cut through the silence.

“Sharra
”

She turned sharply. Across the street, Larry stood frozen, fists clenched, eyes burning with jealousy. He had seen it all—the ring, the kneeling, the promise.

“Don’t do this,” Larry growled, stepping closer. “Don’t say yes to him.”

Joel rose, standing protectively beside Sharra. “This has nothing to do with you,” he said firmly.

Jealousy entered where love already stood.

Choosing Courage

Tension crackled between the two men.

“You think you can take her from me?” Larry snapped, voice shaking with rage.

Sharra stepped forward, placing herself between them. “Stop,” she said firmly. “This is my life. My decision.”

Joel’s eyes never left hers. “I love her,” he said calmly. “And I won’t back down.”

Larry faltered, pride battling emotion. Slowly, he stepped back, anger simmering beneath his silence.

Strength isn’t loud—it’s decisive.

A New Chapter Begins

Joel held the ring out once more.

Sharra looked at him—truly looked. Every doubt faded. She smiled through tears.

“Yes,” she whispered. “Yes, I will marry you.”

Joel slipped the ring onto her finger and pulled her into a warm embrace. Behind them, Larry watched in silence, his face pale, his jealousy unresolved.

Love won—but the storm had not passed.
