The house was unusually quiet. Amber arrived earlier than expected, hoping to surprise Dave and spend time with him. She carried a small bag, and a smile rested on her face. She had no idea that the surprise waiting inside would destroy her happiness.

As Amber approached the living room, she heard laughter. One voice was familiar, but the second made her stop. It was Yaya. Amber moved closer to the doorway and saw Dave and Yaya standing together, looking far too comfortable with each other.

“What is going on here?”

Dave turned around. His smile disappeared when he saw Amber. Yaya stepped away, visibly uncomfortable.

“Amber! What are you doing here? I thought you were coming later.”

“So now I need to make an appointment before visiting you? Is that what this relationship has become?”

Dave sighed and looked toward Yaya, hoping she would explain. But Amber was not interested in excuses.

“I trusted you, Dave. I stood by you when things were difficult. I defended you when people questioned you. And this is what you do behind my back?”

“Amber, please. You don’t understand what you saw.”

“Then explain it to me. Tell me why you are standing here with him like this.”

Neither Dave nor Yaya answered immediately. Their silence made Amber even more suspicious.

Scene 2: Amber Demands the Truth

Amber dropped her bag onto the sofa. Her hands trembled as she tried to control her emotions.

“Dave, I have always been fair to you. I never asked you to be perfect. All I wanted was honesty. If you wanted somebody else, you could have told me.”

“You’re making a big deal out of nothing.”

“Nothing? I walk into your house and find you with Yaya, and you call it nothing?”

“You came in here looking for a reason to argue.”

“No! I came here because I loved you. I came here because I thought we were building something real together.”

Yaya looked between them, realizing the situation was becoming more serious.

“Dave, maybe I should leave.”

“Yes, you should. But before you go, understand something. I never considered you my enemy. I trusted you too.”

“I never wanted to hurt you.”

“But you did.”

For a moment, nobody spoke. Amber wiped away a tear and turned back toward Dave.

“Look me in the eyes and tell me that nothing happened between you two.”

Dave remained silent. That silence was more painful than any confession.

“I can’t believe I wasted so much time believing in you.”

“Watch how you speak to me.”

“Now you’re worried about respect? What about the respect you owed me?”

Scene 3: The Argument Turns Dangerous

Amber continued demanding answers, while Dave grew increasingly irritated.

“Tell me the truth! How long has this been going on?”

“I don’t owe you an explanation for every little thing I do.”

“Then why did you make promises to me? Why did you tell me I was the only woman you wanted?”

“Because I was trying to keep the peace, Amber!”

Those words struck Amber like a slap. She stepped backward, struggling to believe what she had heard.

“So all those promises meant nothing to you?”

Dave did not answer. Yaya moved toward the door, hoping to escape the confrontation.

“I’m leaving. This isn’t going to end well.”

“Of course you’re leaving. You can walk away from this, but I have to live with what you both did.”

“Enough! I’m tired of hearing you insult me in my own house!”

“Then stop giving me reasons to speak!”

Dave lost control of his temper. He grabbed Amber aggressively, and the argument escalated into physical violence. Amber tried to pull away, shocked that the man she trusted could treat her this way.

“Dave, stop! What are you doing? Let me go!”

Yaya stood frozen for a moment, then rushed forward, shouting at Dave to stop.

“Dave! Stop it! You’re going too far!”

The room filled with shouting and confusion. Amber tried desperately to escape, but the situation had become terrifying.

“Please! I haven’t done anything to deserve this!”

Those words should have made Dave stop. Instead, the confrontation spiraled into a devastating tragedy.

Scene 4: The Silence After the Storm

The house, once filled with angry voices, suddenly became silent. Yaya stood near the doorway, trembling. Dave looked around as if he could somehow undo what had happened.

Amber lay motionless. For several seconds, Dave could not bring himself to move.

“Dave… what have you done?”

He stared at her without responding. Yaya rushed toward Amber and desperately tried to get a response.

“Amber, please wake up. Can you hear me?”

There was no answer. Yaya looked up at Dave, horrified.

Dave finally reached for his phone. His hands were shaking, and the confidence he had shown during the argument had disappeared completely. Despite desperate attempts to get help, Amber could not be saved.

“She trusted you. She really trusted you.”

“I didn’t think this would happen.”

“You don’t get to say that now! You had so many chances to stop!”

The sky was gray, and a cold wind moved through the trees surrounding the cemetery. Family members, friends, and people who had known Amber gathered to say their final goodbyes.

A coffin covered with beautiful flowers rested in front of them. Nobody could understand how a woman who had been alive, laughing, and making plans only days earlier was now lying inside a coffin.

“She deserved so much better than this. She trusted the wrong person, and now we have to say goodbye to her.”

“She always tried to see the good in people. I wish she had known how dangerous things could become.”

The funeral prayer was performed, and those gathered paid their respects. Dave was not welcomed warmly. His presence reminded everyone of the terrible circumstances surrounding Amber’s death.

Some people looked at him with anger. Others refused to look at him at all. Yaya stood among the mourners, her face pale and exhausted, remembering Amber’s final words.

“I have always been fair to you.” Those words continued to haunt her.

When it was time to bury Amber, the mourners followed the coffin to the grave. The burial was carried out, and the grave was carefully filled with earth. Flowers were placed on the fresh mound of soil.

“Rest peacefully, Amber. We will never forget you.”

“I’m sorry, Amber. I wish I could change what happened. I wish I could have protected you.”

She remained there long after the others had stepped away. The cemetery slowly emptied, leaving behind only the sound of wind moving through the trees.
