The atmosphere is filled with excitement as Purnell prepares for a new chapter in his life. He has made up his mind that he wants to marry Stevie. For Purnell, this is an important decision, and he believes Stevie could be the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with.
Purnell sits down, thinking about his future with Stevie. He knows that not everyone will support his decision, but he is determined not to let anyone interfere with his happiness.
PURNELL:
“I’m tired of people having something to say about my personal life. I’ve made my decision, and I’m ready to move forward with Stevie. Nobody is going to tell me who I can or cannot marry.”
He looks confident and excited about what lies ahead. However, Purnell has no idea that Bethany is about to show up and challenge everything he has planned.
Bethany arrives after hearing that Purnell is planning to marry Stevie. She immediately wants to talk to him because she strongly disagrees with his decision. Her expression makes it clear that she is not there to congratulate him.
Purnell notices Bethany approaching and realizes that she has something important to say. He already senses that the conversation might not go well.
PURNELL:
“Bethany, what’s going on? Why are you looking at me like that? If you’ve come here to start something, I’m really not in the mood.”
BETHANY:
“I heard you’re planning to marry Stevie, and I honestly think you’re making a huge mistake. Have you really thought about what you’re getting yourself into?”
Purnell looks confused and slightly irritated. He cannot understand why Bethany is so concerned about his relationship with Stevie.
PURNELL:
“What’s wrong with you? Why do you care so much about who I decide to marry?”
BETHANY:
“Because somebody needs to tell you the truth! I don’t think Stevie is the right woman for you. You’re rushing into something without thinking about the consequences.”
Bethany continues explaining why she believes Stevie is not suitable for Purnell. She insists that marriage requires more than feelings and that Purnell needs someone who understands responsibility and commitment.
BETHANY:
“Listen, Purnell. Marriage isn’t just about saying ‘I do.’ You need somebody who can build a life with you, support you, and handle the responsibilities that come with having a home. I honestly don’t believe Stevie is that woman.”
PURNELL:
“Who gave you the right to judge Stevie? Do you even know what kind of relationship we have?”
BETHANY:
“I’m trying to make you understand that you’re making the wrong choice. You deserve somebody who is going to take care of you and your home. Stevie isn’t the person I believe you need.”
Purnell becomes visibly angrier. He cannot believe Bethany is speaking about his future wife as if she knows everything about their relationship.
PURNELL:
“You’re talking about Stevie like you know everything about her. You don’t get to decide whether she’s good enough for me!”
BETHANY:
“I’m only telling you what I see. You might not want to hear it, but somebody has to be honest with you!”
Purnell reaches his breaking point. He stands up, raises his voice, and makes it clear that Bethany has crossed a serious boundary.
PURNELL:
“Bethany, enough! I’m getting tired of you constantly putting your nose in everybody else’s business. This is MY relationship, MY future, and MY decision!”
BETHANY:
“You don’t have to get disrespectful just because I’m telling you something you don’t want to hear. I’m trying to stop you from making a mistake!”
PURNELL:
“Stop trying to run my life! You don’t have any control over who I marry. If I want to marry Stevie, that’s exactly what I’m going to do!”
He points toward the door, making his feelings clear. Bethany becomes defensive, but she refuses to leave the conversation unfinished.
BETHANY:
“So now I’m the bad person because I’m trying to help you? One day you’re going to realize that I was only trying to warn you!”
PURNELL:
“I don’t need your warnings! I need you to respect my decision!”
The argument becomes increasingly heated. Bethany is clearly upset that Purnell is refusing to listen to her, but she still believes he is making a terrible mistake.
Meanwhile, Larry notices the commotion and approaches to find out what is happening. As he gets closer, he sees Bethany and Purnell arguing intensely. Larry immediately realizes that something serious has happened.
LARRY:
“Hold on! What’s going on over here? Why are both of you arguing like this?”
Purnell turns toward Larry, still visibly frustrated.
PURNELL:
“Ask Bethany! She came over here trying to tell me who I should marry. Now she’s talking about Stevie like she knows everything about our relationship!”
LARRY:
“Bethany, what did you say to him?”
BETHANY:
“I’m trying to make him understand that Stevie isn’t the right woman for him. He’s talking about getting married, and I don’t think he’s making the right decision!”
LARRY:
“Wait a minute. So you’re arguing because Purnell wants to marry Stevie?”
PURNELL:
“Exactly! And apparently, Bethany thinks she has the right to decide who I spend my life with!”
Larry takes a moment to process everything. He understands that Purnell has the right to make his own decisions, but he also knows Bethany is not willing to keep her opinions to herself.
LARRY:
“Listen, Purnell. You’re grown, and you can marry whoever you want. Nobody should be making that decision for you. But Bethany, you also need to understand that you can’t force somebody to accept your opinion.”
PURNELL:
“That’s all I’m asking for! I don’t want anybody interfering with my relationship!”
BETHANY:
“And I’m telling you that I’m not going to sit here and watch somebody make a mistake without saying something!”
Larry shakes his head, realizing that neither of them is willing to calm down. He knows that this argument could create even more problems.
PURNELL:
“I’m going to move forward with my life. Whether you agree with it or not, Stevie is the woman I want to marry. I hope everybody can respect that.”
Bethany looks disappointed but refuses to admit defeat. She still believes that Purnell is making a terrible mistake by choosing Stevie.
BETHANY:
“Fine, Purnell. Do what you want. But don’t come back later saying nobody warned you.”
Purnell walks away, determined to focus on his future with Stevie. Larry watches Bethany carefully, wondering why she is so determined to stop this marriage.
Larry is left wondering whether he should get involved or simply let Purnell make his own choices. He knows that Bethany’s interference could create even more drama between everyone involved.
Will Purnell really go through with marrying Stevie despite Bethany’s warnings? Or will he start questioning his decision after hearing what Bethany has to say?
Will Bethany try another way to stop the wedding? And will Larry finally confront Bethany about interfering in Purnell’s personal life?
One thing is certain: this marriage is already creating more drama than anyone expected!
