THE ARREST THAT BROOKE NEVER SAW COMING
The police sirens stopped outside Cam’s house.
Larry stepped out of the police car with a face full of anger and embarrassment. Behind him, two officers followed, their expressions serious.
Inside the house, Brooke had no idea that her father had just made a decision that would change everything.
LARRY
“Today, Cam is going to answer for what he has done.”
Larry stared at the house, trying to hide the fear behind his anger. Only a few hours earlier, he had discovered that Brooke was at Cam’s home.
To Larry, it was more than just a family argument. He believed Cam had taken Brooke away without permission. And now Larry was determined to protect his reputation.
LARRY
“My daughter was taken from my home. I want him arrested.”
The officers exchanged a brief look before walking toward the front door. Larry followed closely behind.
His hands were shaking, but he refused to show it.
THE DOOR OPENS
He knocked hard. The door opened.
CAM
“Larry? What are you doing here?”
Before Cam could say anything else, the officers stepped forward.
POLICE OFFICER
“Cam, you need to come with us.”
Cam froze.
CAM
“What? Why?”
LARRY
“You know exactly why. You took my daughter to your house without my permission.”
Cam looked shocked.
CAM
“Larry, that’s not what happened.”
POLICE OFFICER
“Sir, we received a complaint that Brooke was brought here against her will.”
CAM
“That is completely false. Brooke came here herself.”
LARRY
“Stop lying. You think you can destroy my family’s name and then pretend nothing happened?”
Cam looked toward the hallway. His voice became desperate.
CAM
“Brooke! Please come here!”
Footsteps suddenly echoed through the house. Brooke appeared.
The moment she saw the police officers, her face went pale.
BROOKE
“Dad?”
LARRY
“Brooke, don’t be afraid. I’m here to take you home.”
Brooke looked from her father to Cam. Then she realized what was happening.
BROOKE
“Wait! Why are the police here?”
LARRY
“He brought you here without permission.”
BROOKE
“No! That’s not true!”
The room became completely silent.
BROOKE
“I came here myself.”
Larry stared at her. For a moment, he couldn’t believe what he had heard.
LARRY
“What did you just say?”
BROOKE
“I said I came here myself. Cam didn’t force me.”
Larry’s anger began turning into confusion.
LARRY
“Brooke, you’re my daughter. Why would you leave home and come here?”
BROOKE
“Because I wanted to.”
Brooke looked down. There was something she clearly wasn’t ready to say.
CAM
“Brooke, tell them the truth.”
Brooke stepped forward. Her voice trembled, but she spoke clearly.
BROOKE
“I came here because I wanted to be with him. Please don’t arrest him.”
She stepped between Cam and the officers.
LARRY
“Be with him?”
Brooke slowly looked at her father. She knew the moment had finally arrived.
BROOKE
“Yes, Dad.”
Larry’s face changed. The anger disappeared for a second. Something deeper replaced it.

LARRY
“Brooke… what are you trying to tell me?”
Brooke opened her mouth. But before she could answer, one of the officers received a phone call.
He listened silently. His expression suddenly changed.
POLICE OFFICER
“Mr. Larry… there’s something you need to know.”
LARRY
“What?”
The officer lowered the phone. He looked directly at Larry.
POLICE OFFICER
“The information in your complaint doesn’t match what we’ve just discovered.”
Larry’s face went pale.
LARRY
“What did you discover?”
The officer looked toward Brooke. Then toward Cam. Finally, he looked back at Larry.
POLICE OFFICER
“We found someone else who says they know exactly why Brooke came to Cam’s house.”
Brooke suddenly looked terrified. Cam’s expression changed too.
Larry stepped closer.
LARRY
“Who?”
The officer didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he said quietly—

“Before we tell you… you should hear what this person has to say.”
Larry stared at Brooke. Brooke’s eyes filled with tears.
Whatever the police had discovered, it was clear that the truth was much bigger than anyone had expected.
