Brooke Makes a Desperate Decision
Brooke had reached a point where she felt she could no longer stay at home. Everything had become too difficult, and she was scared that things would only get worse if she stayed. After thinking about it for a long time, Brooke finally made a desperate decision. She packed her bag, left the house, and ran away without telling anyone.
The most important thing was that Brooke did not tell Larry where she was going. She knew that if Larry found out she had left home, he would immediately start looking for her. Brooke only had one place in mind—Chicago, where Destiny lived.
Throughout the journey, Brooke was nervous and frightened. She kept wondering whether Destiny would help her or whether she would be turned away. But at that moment, she felt like she had nowhere else to go.
Brooke Arrives in Chicago
When Brooke finally arrived in Chicago, she was extremely scared. Everything around her felt unfamiliar. Holding her bag tightly, she slowly made her way toward Destiny’s house.
When Brooke finally reached the door, she stopped for a moment. Her hands were shaking, and she was unsure whether she was making the right decision. After taking a deep breath, she knocked.
A few moments later, Destiny and her mother, Dutchess, opened the door. The moment they saw Brooke standing there with her bag, they immediately realized something was wrong.
“I Ran Away From Home!”
Brooke struggled to explain what had happened. With fear in her voice, she told Destiny and Dutchess that she had run away from home. She also admitted that she had not told Larry anything about leaving or coming to Chicago.
Destiny and Dutchess were completely shocked. Dutchess looked at Brooke and asked why she had run away from home. She told Brooke that she needed to tell her father, Larry, where she was instead of simply disappearing.
But Brooke could not imagine going back. With tears in her eyes, she begged Dutchess, “I don’t want to live there anymore. Please let me stay here with you.”
Dutchess Refuses to Take Brooke In
Dutchess understood that Brooke was frightened, but she also knew that taking Brooke in would create serious problems for her household. She explained that she already had a job and that the expenses at home were extremely high. She was already struggling to make ends meet.
Dutchess gently but firmly told Brooke, “I understand what you’re going through, but I can’t keep you in my house. I already have too many responsibilities and expenses. You need to go back home.”
Brooke was devastated. She had traveled all the way to Chicago hoping that Destiny and Dutchess would give her somewhere safe to stay. Instead, she was being told that she could not stay.
Brooke lowered her head, trying to hold back her tears. She picked up her bag again and looked toward the door. She had no idea where she could go next.
Destiny’s Silence
Before leaving, Brooke looked toward Destiny, hoping that she would say something. Brooke wanted Destiny to defend her and convince Dutchess to let her stay, even if it was only for a few days.
But Destiny remained silent. She didn’t say a word.
That silence hurt Brooke even more. She slowly turned toward the door, feeling completely defeated. She had come to Chicago believing that Destiny would be the one person who would understand her, but now she felt completely alone.
