Amber Signs the
Divorce Papers

as Anthony prepares to marry D’Nisha
Int · Morning Amber’s House — Living Room

Morning light fills the quiet room. Amber sits on the couch, staring at her phone. Her expression is calm, but there is a sense of finality in her eyes. She takes a deep breath and dials Anthony’s number.

Anthony
Hello?
Amber
Anthony, I’ve made my decision. I want to sign the divorce papers today.

Silence on the other end. Anthony looks down at the documents on his desk.

Anthony
The divorce papers are already ready. Come over to my house. We’ll sign everything today.
Amber
I’ll be there.

She ends the call and sets the phone down. She knows that once those papers are signed, her marriage to Anthony will officially be over. But unlike before, she does not look heartbroken — she looks ready to move forward.

Int · Later Dave’s House — Hallway

Amber walks through the hallway carrying her purse. Dave waits near the front door, watching her carefully.

Dave
Are you sure you want to do this today?
Amber
Yes. I’ve already made my decision. I don’t want to keep holding on to something that’s already over.
Dave
Then I’m coming with you.
Amber
Thank you.

He opens the door. They leave together.

Ext / Int · Day Anthony’s House — Driveway & Living Room

A car pulls into the driveway. Amber and Dave step out. For a brief moment, memories of her marriage to Anthony cross her mind — she quickly pushes them away.

Dave
You okay?
Amber
I’m fine. Let’s finish this.

Inside, the divorce papers are arranged neatly on the table, a pen resting beside them.

Anthony
You came.
Amber
I told you I would.
Anthony
Everything is ready. Once we sign these, everything between us is officially over.
Amber
That’s what I want.

Anthony slowly picks up the pen. A long silence.

Anthony
I’m signing these because I’m getting married to D’Nisha today. I need to start my new life without anything from the past standing in the way.
Amber
Then you should.

Anthony looks surprised. He expected an argument. He expected tears. Instead, Amber looks completely at peace.

Anthony
You’re really not upset?
Amber
No. You’re choosing your future, Anthony. I’m choosing mine.

Anthony lowers his eyes and signs his name — the sound of the pen filling the quiet room. Amber picks up the pen. For one final moment, she looks at him.

Amber
I hope you find what you’re looking for.

She signs the divorce papers and puts the pen down. The marriage is finally coming to an end. Dave watches with quiet support. Amber takes a deep breath — she feels lighter.

Int · Continuous Anthony’s House — Living Room
Anthony
That’s it.
Amber
Yes. That’s it.
Anthony
You came with her?
Dave
Of course.
Anthony
So what happens now?
Amber
Now I move forward.

She turns toward the door. Dave follows. Anthony remains standing beside the table, holding the signed papers.

Int · Afternoon Dave’s House

Amber and Dave return home. Dave’s daughter is sitting in the living room and immediately notices the serious expressions on their faces.

Dave’s Daughter
What happened?
Amber
I signed the divorce papers today. I wanted you to hear everything from me. Anthony is getting married to D’Nisha today. I knew this was coming, and I decided it was time for me to close that chapter of my life.
Dave’s Daughter
So what are you going to do now?
Amber
I want to start over.

Dave’s daughter is quiet for a moment, then speaks honestly.

Dave’s Daughter
Amber, I accept you. There’s one condition — you cannot stay with my dad until your divorce from Anthony is finalized.

The room goes quiet. Amber remains calm — she understands exactly what she means.

Amber
I understand.
Dave’s Daughter
I’m not trying to hurt you. I just want everything to be completely finished before you and my dad take the next step.
Amber
I respect that. I don’t want anyone to feel like I’m rushing into something.
Dave
We’ll do everything the right way.
Amber
Exactly.
Int · Evening Dave’s House — By the Window

The sun begins to set outside. Amber stands near the window. Dave joins her. For a moment, neither says anything.

Dave
How are you feeling?
Amber
Free. For so long, I was trapped between what Anthony wanted and what I wanted. Today, I finally chose myself.
Dave
And when everything is finalized?
Amber
Then we’ll see what the future holds.
Int · Same Evening Anthony’s House

Anthony stands alone in the living room. The signed divorce papers sit on the table. His phone rings — D’Nisha.

Anthony
Hey.
D’Nisha
Are you ready?
Anthony
Yes. Everything is finished. Today, I’m starting a new chapter.
Int · Night Dave’s House

Amber sits quietly with Dave and his daughter. There is no celebration, no dramatic confrontation — just the feeling that something important has finally changed.

Dave’s Daughter
When the divorce is completely finalized, then we can talk about what comes next.
Amber
That’s fair.
Dave
We’ll wait.

For the first time, Amber feels like she has a clear path ahead. The past is closing. The future is waiting.

Amber
I’m ready for whatever comes next.

Outside, the night settles over the house. Somewhere across town, Anthony prepares to marry D’Nisha. Two lives are moving in completely different directions. But for Amber, one thing is certain — her marriage to Anthony is finally coming to an end, and her new chapter is about to begin.

Her marriage is closing. Her chapter is opening.
