BROOKE’S NEW CAR SURPRISE TURNS INTO A SHOCKING DISCOVERY

EXT. CITY STREET – LATE AFTERNOON

Golden sunlight covers the busy streets.

Cars move through traffic as people walk along the sidewalks.

A shiny new car slowly turns onto the street.

BROOKE is behind the wheel.

She smiles excitedly.

She glances at the passenger seat, where a small gift bag sits.

Brooke looks at herself in the rearview mirror.

She can’t stop smiling.

Today is supposed to be special.

She just got her new car, and she wants ISAIAH to be the first person she surprises with it.

Brooke picks up her phone at a red light.

She quickly checks Isaiah’s messages.

Nothing new.

She smiles anyway.

BROOKE

“I can’t wait to see his face.”

The light turns green.

Brooke drives toward Isaiah’s neighborhood.

Her excitement grows with every block.

EXT. ISAIAH’S NEIGHBORHOOD – MOMENTS LATER

Brooke’s car slowly enters the quiet neighborhood.

She looks around.

She expects to see Isaiah somewhere nearby.

Brooke parks a short distance from Isaiah’s house.

She turns off the engine.

For a moment, everything is quiet.

Brooke looks at the gift bag.

She takes a deep breath.

BROOKE

“He’s going to be so surprised.”

She gets out of the car.

Brooke closes the door and walks toward the sidewalk.

She suddenly stops.

Something catches her attention.

Farther down the street, ISAIAH is walking.

But he’s not alone.

A GIRL is walking beside him.

They are laughing and talking.

Brooke’s smile slowly disappears.

She stares at them.

Her expression changes from excitement to confusion.

BROOKE

“Isaiah?”

Brooke takes a few steps closer.

She watches carefully.

Isaiah doesn’t notice her.

The girl says something that makes Isaiah laugh.

Brooke’s face becomes tense.

She looks back at her new car.

Then she looks at Isaiah again.

She can’t understand what she’s seeing.

EXT. QUIET SIDE STREET – CONTINUOUS

Isaiah and the girl continue walking.

Brooke follows from a distance.

She doesn’t want to jump to conclusions.

She wants to hear what they’re talking about.

Isaiah looks completely relaxed.

The girl smiles at him.

Brooke’s hands tighten around the gift bag.

She stops walking.

Her eyes become watery.

BROOKE

“What is going on?”

Isaiah suddenly turns his head.

He sees Brooke.

He freezes.

The smile disappears from his face.

The girl looks at him.

Then she looks toward Brooke.

A long silence follows.

Brooke slowly walks toward them.

Isaiah looks nervous.

ISAIAH

“Brooke…”

Brooke raises her hand.

She doesn’t want an excuse yet.

BROOKE

“Don’t.”

Isaiah takes a small step toward her.

ISAIAH

“It’s not what you think.”

Brooke lets out a quiet, disappointed laugh.

BROOKE

“Then what is it?”

Isaiah looks at the girl.

The girl looks uncomfortable.

ISAIAH

“She’s just a friend.”

Brooke looks between them.

BROOKE

“A friend?”

Isaiah nods quickly.

ISAIAH

“Yes. I swear.”

Brooke shakes her head.

BROOKE

“I came here to surprise you.”

Isaiah looks confused.

ISAIAH

“Surprise me with what?”

Brooke points toward the street.

BROOKE

“My new car.”

Isaiah looks past her.

His eyes land on the shiny car parked nearby.

For a moment, he says nothing.

Brooke watches his reaction.

BROOKE

“I wanted you to be the first person I showed.”

Isaiah slowly walks toward her.

ISAIAH

“Brooke, I didn’t know you were coming.”

BROOKE

“Exactly.”

Brooke looks at the other girl.

BROOKE

“And I didn’t know she was coming either.”

The girl takes a step back.

GIRL

“I’m going to go.”

Isaiah looks at her.

ISAIAH

“Wait—”

Brooke interrupts him.

BROOKE

“No.”

The girl stops.

Brooke takes a breath.

She tries to remain calm.

BROOKE

“You can leave.”

The girl nods and walks away.

Isaiah watches her go.

Then he turns back toward Brooke.

EXT. ISAIAH’S NEIGHBORHOOD – CONTINUOUS

Brooke stands beside her new car.

Isaiah approaches carefully.

ISAIAH

“I should’ve told you she was coming.”

Brooke looks at him.

BROOKE

“That’s not the problem.”

Isaiah looks confused.

ISAIAH

“Then what is?”

Brooke’s voice becomes quieter.

BROOKE

“The problem is that I trusted you.”

Isaiah looks down.

Brooke wipes away a tear.

BROOKE

“I came here excited.”

She looks at the car.

BROOKE

“I thought you’d be happy for me.”

Isaiah looks at the car again.

ISAIAH

“I am happy for you.”

Brooke looks back at him.

BROOKE

“Are you?”

Isaiah doesn’t answer immediately.

Brooke notices the hesitation.

That hurts more than anything.

BROOKE

“You couldn’t even tell me the truth.”

ISAIAH

“I wasn’t trying to hurt you.”

BROOKE

“But you did.”

Isaiah takes another step toward her.

ISAIAH

“Brooke, please listen to me.”

She steps backward.

BROOKE

“I’ve heard enough.”

Isaiah’s expression becomes worried.

ISAIAH

“Are you breaking up with me?”

Brooke looks at him for several seconds.

She doesn’t answer.

Instead, she opens the driver’s door.

Isaiah watches.

ISAIAH

“Brooke, don’t leave like this.”

Brooke gets inside.

Before closing the door, she looks at him one last time.

BROOKE

“I came here to give you a surprise.”

A pause.

BROOKE

“Instead, you gave me one.”

She closes the door.

Isaiah stands frozen on the sidewalk.

INT. BROOKE’S CAR – CONTINUOUS

Brooke sits behind the wheel.

She looks through the windshield.

Isaiah is standing in the distance.

He looks helpless.

Brooke starts the engine.

Her eyes fill with tears.

She takes a deep breath.

BROOKE

“I should’ve known better.”

She puts the car into drive.

The car slowly pulls away.

Brooke doesn’t look back.

EXT. ISAIAH’S NEIGHBORHOOD – CONTINUOUS

Isaiah watches Brooke drive away.

He takes out his phone.

He quickly calls her.

Inside the car, Brooke sees his name appear on the screen.

She stares at it.

Her finger hovers over the answer button.

The phone keeps ringing.

Brooke finally turns the screen face down.

She continues driving.

INT. BROOKE’S CAR – MOMENTS LATER

The city passes outside the windows.

Brooke’s excitement from earlier is completely gone.

The gift bag remains on the passenger seat.

She looks at it.

Slowly, she reaches over and picks it up.

She opens the bag.

Inside is a small gift she had bought for Isaiah.

She stares at it.

A painful smile appears on her face.

BROOKE

“I really thought today was going to be different.”

She closes the bag.

Her phone rings again.

ISAIAH

Brooke ignores it.

Another call comes.

She ignores that one too.

Then a message appears.

Brooke glances at the screen.

She doesn’t open it.

She keeps driving.

EXT. CITY STREET – SUNSET

Brooke’s new car disappears into the evening traffic.

The sunlight fades behind the buildings.

Inside the car, Brooke keeps her eyes on the road.

Her heart is heavy.

But she knows one thing.

She came to Isaiah with a surprise.

And instead, she discovered something she never expected.

The truth may have hurt.

But now Brooke has questions.

And she intends to get answers.

FADE OUT.
