Larry’s Nervous Morning

Larry was getting ready to take Brooke to school when a sudden knock at the door made him freeze. For a moment, he stood completely still, his eyes fixed on the entrance.

He had been waiting for the divorce papers, but now that they might actually be there, nervousness took over.

His relationship with Bethany had become complicated, and he believed ending the marriage would finally give him the freedom to move forward. Yet deep down, he was still afraid of what would happen once the papers arrived.

Larry’s Secret Plan

Larry had created a simple plan. He would take Brooke to school, leaving Bethany alone at home.

He assumed that if the divorce papers arrived while he was away, Bethany would receive them without him having to face the immediate confrontation.

Larry thought this would give him enough time to prepare himself for whatever came next.

Brooke Notices Something Is Wrong

“Dad, are we leaving or not?” Brooke asked as she stood near the door.

“Yeah, just give me a minute,” Larry replied nervously.

Brooke noticed that something seemed different about him. Larry kept checking the clock and looking toward the front door. He was clearly distracted.

Before Brooke could ask another question, there was another knock.

The Envelope Arrives

Bethany walked toward the door. “Who could that be?” she wondered.

Larry remained where he was, hoping she would not notice how nervous he had suddenly become.

Bethany opened the door and found an envelope waiting for her. She looked at it carefully before taking it into her hands.

Larry immediately recognized what it was.

For a few seconds, nobody said anything.

Bethany Opens the Papers

Bethany slowly turned around and looked at Larry. Her expression changed when she noticed the look on his face.

Larry swallowed nervously.

Brooke looked between her parents, confused by the sudden tension in the room.

The Truth Comes Out

Larry quickly tried to change the subject.

But Brooke could tell that something was wrong.

Bethany held the envelope tightly in her hands. She had not expected to receive those papers so suddenly.

Even though the problems between her and Larry had been obvious for some time, seeing the official documents made everything feel real.

She slowly opened the envelope.

Bethany pulled out the documents and began reading them. Her eyes moved from one page to another.

Larry looked away while Brooke stood nearby, trying to understand why her father seemed so uncomfortable.

Bethany looked directly at him.

Larry had no immediate answer.

Bethany continued, “You thought if you left with Brooke, you wouldn’t have to face me when I received them.”

Larry sighed.

“Then what were you doing?” Bethany demanded.

Larry looked toward Brooke and lowered his voice.

Bethany shook her head.

Brooke Learns the Truth

Larry knew Bethany had a point. For weeks, he had been trying to control the situation.

He wanted the divorce, but he also wanted to avoid the emotional consequences.

Now, the papers were sitting in Bethany’s hands, and there was nowhere left for him to hide.

The question silenced the room.

Larry looked at Bethany. Bethany looked back at him. Neither of them immediately answered.

Finally, Bethany took a deep breath.
