The living room is quiet. Anthony sits comfortably on the couch, scrolling through his phone.
A few papers are scattered across the coffee table. Suddenly, Shayla walks into the room.
She looks worried and hesitant.
SHAYLA
Anthony, can I talk to you for a minute?
ANTHONY
Sure. What’s going on?
Shayla slowly sits across from Anthony. She takes a deep breath before explaining what she needs.
SHAYLA
It’s about Kai’s party. I still need some money to finish paying for everything.
ANTHONY
What about it?
SHAYLA
I still have to pay for some decorations, food, and a few other things.
I was trying to handle everything myself, but I’m running short.
Anthony puts his phone down and looks at Shayla seriously.

You should’ve told me earlier. How much do you need?
SHAYLA
I need enough to cover the rest of the expenses.

No. I want to know what that is.
ANTHONY
That’s money for Kai’s party.
D’NISHA
You gave Shayla money?
SHAYLA
D’Nisha, it’s not what you think.

You came here asking Anthony for money?

Yes. I needed help with Kai’s party.
D’NISHA
And Anthony just gave it to you?

He wanted to help.
