LARRY WALKS IN ON SHARRA AND DRE
A Cinematic Drama Screenplay
SCENE 1 — OUTSIDE SHARRA’S HOUSE
Late afternoon. The neighborhood is quiet.
Larry pulls up outside Sharra’s house with an envelope in his hand. He gets out of the car and walks toward the front door. He looks down at the envelope, knowing exactly why he came.
LARRY
“I told Sharra I’d help her with the rent. I’m just going to give her the money and leave.”
Larry reaches the gate and looks around.
LARRY
“Sharra?”
No response.
Larry knocks on the door.
LARRY
“Sharra, it’s Larry. Open the door.”
Silence.
Larry knocks again. His expression changes when he still gets no answer.
LARRY
“Sharra?”
He tries the door.
The door opens.
Larry hesitates before stepping inside.
SCENE 2 — INSIDE SHARRA’S HOUSE
Larry slowly walks through the living room. Everything appears normal, but the silence makes him uncomfortable.
LARRY
“Sharra, where are you?”
No answer.
Larry checks the kitchen. Empty.
He walks toward the hallway.
LARRY
“Sharra, I’m not playing. I came over to give you your rent money.”
Nothing.
Larry becomes increasingly concerned. He checks another room, but Sharra is nowhere to be found.
Then he hears faint voices coming from upstairs.
Larry stops.
His expression turns serious.
He slowly walks toward the sound.
SCENE 3 — SHARRA’S BEDROOM
Larry reaches Sharra’s bedroom door.
He pauses outside.
He hears Dre’s voice.
Larry immediately recognizes it.
He slowly reaches for the doorknob and opens the door.
Larry freezes in complete shock.
Sharra is inside with her ex-boyfriend Dre.
Sharra looks toward the doorway.
SHARRA
“Larry?!”
Dre turns around and looks completely caught off guard.
Larry stares at both of them. The envelope in his hand slowly drops to his side.
LARRY
“What… is this?”
Sharra immediately steps forward.
SHARRA
“Larry, wait. It’s not what you think.”
Larry shakes his head.
LARRY
“Not what I think?”
He looks at Dre and then back at Sharra.
LARRY
“I came here to help you. I came here with your rent money. And this is what I walk into?”
SCENE 4 — THE CONFRONTATION
Dre steps forward, trying to explain.
DRE
“Larry, calm down. Let me explain.”
Larry immediately turns toward him.
LARRY
“You don’t get to tell me to calm down.”
Dre raises his hands.
DRE
“I’m just saying—”
Larry takes a step closer.
LARRY
“You’re Sharra’s ex. Why are you even here?”
Dre looks at Sharra. Sharra looks away.
Larry notices.
LARRY
“Sharra, look at me. Tell me why Dre is here.”
Sharra struggles to answer.
SHARRA
“He came over because we needed to talk.”
Larry lets out a frustrated breath.
LARRY
“Talk? This doesn’t look like a simple conversation to me.”
Dre tries to intervene.
Larry grabs him by the collar in anger.
SHARRA
“Larry! Stop!”
Larry releases him after the heated confrontation.
Sharra looks at Larry in disbelief.
SCENE 5 — SHARRA TRIES TO EXPLAIN
Sharra moves between Larry and Dre.
SHARRA
“Larry, what are you doing?”
Larry looks at her with disappointment.
LARRY
“What am I doing? I walked into this house because you wouldn’t answer the door.”
He points toward the hallway.
LARRY
“I searched this entire house looking for you.”
He looks at the envelope.
LARRY
“I came here to help you.”
His voice becomes quieter.
LARRY
“And you couldn’t even give me the respect of telling me Dre was here.”
Sharra’s expression softens.
SHARRA
“Larry, I never wanted you to find out like this.”
Larry looks at her.
LARRY
“Then how did you want me to find out?”
Sharra has no answer.
SCENE 6 — DRE SPEAKS UP
Dre takes a breath and tries to explain himself.
DRE
“Larry, whatever happened between me and Sharra, you don’t know the whole story.”
Larry looks directly at him.
LARRY
“Then tell me.”
Dre hesitates.
DRE
“Sharra and I have history.”
Larry nods.
LARRY
“I know.”
DRE
“We were talking about our past.”
Larry interrupts.
LARRY
“And you thought her bedroom was the place to do that?”
Dre becomes uncomfortable.
Sharra steps forward.
SHARRA
“Larry, please. Let me explain.”
Larry turns toward her.
LARRY
“I’m listening.”
SHARRA
“Dre showed up unexpectedly. I didn’t invite him here for this. He wanted to talk about things that happened between us years ago.”
Larry watches her carefully.
LARRY
“And you let him stay?”
Sharra slowly nods.
SHARRA
“I made a mistake.”
SCENE 7 — THE RENT MONEY
Larry looks down at the envelope.
He walks toward the table and places it down.
Sharra notices.
SHARRA
“Larry…”
LARRY
“This is your rent money.”
Sharra looks at the envelope.
LARRY
“I brought it because I didn’t want you struggling.”
He pauses.
LARRY
“But after today, I don’t know if I should keep doing things for someone who can’t be honest with me.”
Sharra becomes emotional.
SHARRA
“Please don’t take it back.”
Larry looks at her.
LARRY
“I haven’t decided what I’m going to do.”
SHARRA
“Larry, I swear I didn’t plan for any of this to happen.”
Larry takes a deep breath.
LARRY: “The problem isn’t just Dre. The problem is trust.”
SCENE 8 — LARRY SETS A BOUNDARY
Larry turns toward Dre.
LARRY
“You need to leave.”
Dre looks at Sharra.
DRE
“Sharra…”
LARRY
“I said leave.”
Dre takes a breath.
DRE
“We’ll talk later.”
Larry remains firm.
LARRY
“If Sharra wants to talk to you, that’s her decision. But you’re not staying here tonight.”
Dre slowly walks toward the door.
Sharra watches him leave.
The front door closes.
SCENE 9 — LARRY AND SHARRA ALONE
Larry and Sharra stand across from each other.
Neither speaks.
Finally, Sharra breaks the silence.
SHARRA
“Are you leaving me?”
Larry looks at her.
LARRY
“I don’t know.”
Sharra’s eyes fill with emotion.
SHARRA
“I don’t want to lose you.”
Larry shakes his head.
LARRY
“Then you should have thought about that before letting me walk into this situation.”
Sharra looks down.
SHARRA
“I know I messed up.”
Larry takes a deep breath.
LARRY
“I need space.”
Sharra looks up.
SHARRA
“Larry, please.”
Larry walks toward the door.
SCENE 10 — THE FINAL WARNING
Larry stops before leaving.
He turns around.
LARRY
“Sharra.”
She looks at him.
LARRY
“If we’re ever going to have any kind of relationship again, there has to be honesty.”
Sharra nods slowly.
SHARRA
“I understand.”
Larry opens the door.
LARRY
“I need time to figure out what I want.”
Larry walks outside.
Sharra watches him leave.
Before getting into his car, Larry looks back at the house one last time.
His face shows disappointment and uncertainty.
Inside, Sharra remains standing in the hallway. She looks at the rent money sitting on the table.
She takes a deep breath.
Larry starts his car and drives away.
