The Truth Brooke Never Expected
The atmosphere was already tense when Cameron decided he could no longer keep the truth to himself. He knew that whatever happened next would hurt Brooke, but he also believed she deserved to know what had been going on between Isaiah and Mariah.
Cameron took a deep breath before walking toward Brooke. She was sitting quietly, unaware that her entire mood was about to change.
“Brooke, I need to talk to you,” Cameron said seriously.
Brooke looked up at him. “About what? You look really serious.”
“There’s something I think you need to know about Isaiah and Mariah.”
The mention of Isaiah immediately caught Brooke’s attention.
“What about them?” she asked.
Cameron pulled up a chair and sat across from her. He knew there was no easy way to say what he had come to reveal.
“I’ve been trying to figure out the right way to tell you this,” Cameron explained. “But I don’t think it’s fair for you to keep believing everything is okay when it isn’t.”
Brooke’s expression changed.
“Cameron, just tell me. What happened?”
Cameron finally told her what he knew about Isaiah and Mariah. He explained that there had been things happening behind Brooke’s back and that Isaiah had not been completely honest with her.
Brooke stared at him in disbelief.
“No,” she said quietly. “That doesn’t make sense.”
“I wish it didn’t,” Cameron replied. “But I’m telling you because you deserve the truth.”
Brooke shook her head as tears began forming in her eyes.
“Are you sure?” she asked. “You’re telling me Isaiah was keeping this from me?”
Cameron nodded.
“I wouldn’t come to you with something this serious if I didn’t believe it was true.”
Brooke looked away, trying to hold back her emotions. For a few seconds, she said nothing. Then the tears began to fall.
“I trusted him,” she said. “I actually trusted him.”
“Brooke, I know this hurts,” Cameron said. “But none of this is your fault.”
Brooke wiped her face.
“Then why would he do this to me? Why would he look me in the face and act like everything was fine?”
“I don’t have an answer for that,” Cameron admitted. “Only Isaiah can explain why he made those choices.”
Brooke stood up, her emotions quickly turning from sadness to anger.
“And Mariah?” she asked. “She knew about me, didn’t she?”
Cameron paused before answering.
“That’s something you need to ask her yourself,” he said. “But I wanted you to hear the truth before you heard another version of it from somebody else.”
Brooke’s anger grew.
“So everyone knew except me?”
“Not everyone,” Cameron said. “But I understand why you feel that way.”
Brooke began pacing across the room.
“I defended Isaiah. I trusted him. Every time someone said something about him, I gave him the benefit of the doubt.”
Her voice cracked as she continued.
“And now I find out that I was the one being kept in the dark?”
Cameron stood up.
“You have every right to be upset. Just don’t let your anger make the decision for you.”
Brooke looked at him with tears still in her eyes.
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to do now.”
“Take some time,” Cameron said. “You don’t have to decide everything today. You can be angry. You can be hurt. But make sure you get the full story before you make any major decision.”
Brooke sat down again and covered her face with her hands.
“I just wanted him to be honest with me.”
Cameron nodded.
“That’s all anyone can ask for in a relationship—honesty and respect.”
After a moment, Brooke lowered her hands and looked toward Cameron.
“I need to talk to Isaiah.”
Cameron could see the determination in her expression.
“Then talk to him,” he said. “Ask him every question you have. But remember that you deserve answers, not excuses.”
Brooke took a deep breath and wiped away her tears.
“I’m still hurt. I’m still angry. But I’m not going to let anyone tell me how I’m supposed to feel.”
“That’s fair,” Cameron replied.
Brooke looked down for a moment before adding, “And I need to talk to Mariah too.”
Cameron nodded.
“I figured you would.”
The conversation left Brooke emotionally overwhelmed. She had entered the room believing that her relationship with Isaiah was something she could trust. Now, she was questioning everything she thought she knew.
For Cameron, telling Brooke the truth had been difficult, but he believed hiding it would have been worse.
As Brooke sat quietly, she realized that the next conversation with Isaiah could change everything. She knew she would have questions, and she knew she might not like the answers.
But one thing was certain: she was no longer willing to accept half-truths.
Brooke wiped away the last of her tears and took a deep breath.
“If Isaiah has something to say,” she said firmly, “he’s going to have to say it to my face.”
Cameron stepped back and gave her space.
The truth had hurt Brooke deeply, but it had also given her something she had been missing—clarity. Now, the next chapter would depend on what Isaiah and Mariah had to say for themselves.
