When Shayla Discovers Anthony Is Behind the Bear Mask
The Mysterious Bear
Shayla had been suspicious from the moment she saw the mysterious
bear standing outside. Something about the way the person moved,
the way he stood, and even the way he looked at everyone made her
feel that she had seen him before.
She slowly walked toward the bear, keeping her eyes fixed on the mask.
SHAYLA:
“Something about you doesn’t feel right.”
The bear remained silent.
Shayla stepped closer and studied him carefully.
SHAYLA:
“I know you’re hiding something. And I’m about to find out what it is.”
The bear tried to step away, but Shayla grabbed his arm.
SHAYLA:
“Not so fast.”
She reached toward the bear’s head and pulled at the mask.
The mask finally came off.
Anthony Is Revealed
Shayla froze. Standing in front of her was Anthony.
Her suspicion had been correct.
SHAYLA:
“Anthony?”
Anthony looked at her nervously.
ANTHONY:
“Shayla, listen to me.”
SHAYLA:
“What are you doing here?”
Anthony took a breath and tried to explain himself.
ANTHONY:
“I came here because I needed to talk to you.”
SHAYLA:
“You needed to talk to me? So your solution was to show up wearing a giant bear costume?”
ANTHONY:
“I didn’t know how else to approach you.”
SHAYLA:
“You could have knocked on the door like a normal person!”
Anthony Confesses His Feelings
Anthony stepped closer.
ANTHONY:
“Shayla, I’m serious. I came because I love you.”
Shayla’s expression immediately changed. She laughed again,
but this time there was disbelief behind it.
SHAYLA:
“Love me?”
ANTHONY:
“Yes. I love you.”
SHAYLA:
“Then why did you spend so much time hurting everyone around you?”
Anthony looked away for a moment.
ANTHONY:
“I made mistakes.”
SHAYLA:
“Mistakes?”
She stepped closer to him.
SHAYLA:
“You left Amber. You created problems with everyone. You made promises you couldn’t keep. And now you’re standing in front of me telling me you love me?”
The Truth About Amber
ANTHONY:
“I left Amber because of you.”
Shayla suddenly stopped laughing.
SHAYLA:
“What did you just say?”
ANTHONY:
“I’m saying I chose you. I walked away from Amber because I wanted to be with you.”
Shayla stared at him.
SHAYLA:
“Seriously?”
ANTHONY:
“Yes. I thought you would understand eventually.”
SHAYLA:
“Understand what? That I was supposed to feel special because you destroyed another relationship for me?”
Anthony became defensive.
ANTHONY:
“You’re looking at this the wrong way.”
SHAYLA:
“No, Anthony. I’m looking at it exactly the way it happened.”
Shayla Challenges Anthony
ANTHONY:
“I did everything because I wanted a future with you.”
SHAYLA:
“Don’t lie to me.”
ANTHONY:
“I’m not lying.”
SHAYLA:
“Yes, you are!”
She pointed toward him.
SHAYLA:
“You didn’t leave Amber because of me. You did it because you were already unhappy, and now you’re trying to put the responsibility on me.”
ANTHONY:
“You don’t know what I went through.”
SHAYLA:
“And you don’t know what I went through watching everything fall apart!”
D’Nisha Becomes Part of the Argument
ANTHONY:
“I gave up everything for you!”
SHAYLA:
“No, you didn’t.”
Anthony stared at her.
SHAYLA:
“You gave up Amber because of D’Nisha!”
The smile disappeared from Anthony’s face.
Shayla’s accusation suddenly changed the entire conversation.
SHAYLA:
“That’s the truth, isn’t it?”
Anthony remained silent.
SHAYLA:
“You want me to believe that you suddenly realized you loved me? You didn’t. You made all these decisions because of D’Nisha, and now that things aren’t going the way you expected, you’re coming back to me.”
ANTHONY:
“Don’t bring D’Nisha into this.”
SHAYLA:
“Why not? She has been part of every decision you’ve made lately!”
The Argument Explodes
ANTHONY:
“You know what your problem is, Shayla? You always think everything has to be about you!”
Shayla’s face changed immediately.
SHAYLA:
“What did you say?”
Anthony realized he had gone too far, but instead of apologizing,
he continued.
ANTHONY:
“You keep acting like you’re the only person who matters. Maybe if you weren’t so difficult, I wouldn’t have to keep dealing with all this drama.”
SHAYLA:
“So that’s what you really think of me?”
Anthony hesitated.
ANTHONY:
“I didn’t mean—”
SHAYLA:
“No. Say it.”
Anthony looked away.
SHAYLA:
“You came here pretending to be someone else, told me you loved me, blamed me for your decisions, and now you’re calling me difficult?”
The Confrontation
Anthony tried to calm Shayla down, but the argument became heated.
Shayla pushed him away in anger while Anthony stepped backward,
trying to end the confrontation.
ANTHONY:
“Shayla, stop! I didn’t come here to fight!”
SHAYLA:
“Then you shouldn’t have insulted me!”
ANTHONY:
“I’m sorry!”
SHAYLA:
“You should have thought about that before you opened your mouth!”
The bear mask remained on the ground beside them,
almost forgotten now.
Shayla’s Final Message
Anthony looked at Shayla and finally understood that his attempt
to confess his feelings had turned into an even bigger disaster.
ANTHONY:
“I really do love you.”
Shayla stopped for a moment. She looked at him with disappointment
rather than anger.
SHAYLA:
“Love isn’t just something you say when you want someone to forgive you.”
Anthony remained silent.
SHAYLA:
“If you really loved me, you would have come here as Anthony. You wouldn’t have hidden behind a mask.”
Anthony looked down at the bear head on the ground.
For the first time, he had nothing to say.
Shayla turned away from him and made it clear that the conversation
was over.
SHAYLA:
“Now pick up your mask and leave.”
ANTHONY:
“Shayla…”
SHAYLA:
“Go, Anthony.”
Anthony slowly picked up the bear mask and walked away,
while Shayla remained standing there, realizing that the truth
she had been searching for had only created more questions
than answers.
