Isaiah’s House — Evening
The neighborhood is quiet. Brooke walks toward Isaiah’s house, frustration written across her face. She’s been calling and texting him for hours with no reply. She stops at the front door, takes a breath, then knocks.
The door opens. Brooke freezes — standing in front of her is a girl she’s never seen before. Isaiah’s new girlfriend. For a moment, neither says anything.
BROOKE: Is Isaiah here?
The girl looks Brooke up and down, immediately realizing who she is. A small, confident smile crosses her face.
NEW GIRLFRIEND: You must be Brooke.
BROOKE: How do you know my name?
NEW GIRLFRIEND: Isaiah talks about you.
BROOKE: Then maybe you can tell me why he hasn’t answered any of my messages.
The girl doesn’t respond. Instead, she reaches for her phone. Brooke watches, confused.
BROOKE: What are you doing?
The Photo
The girl unlocks her phone and turns the screen toward Brooke. Brooke looks at the picture — her entire expression changes. It shows Isaiah with the girl, clearly spending time together late at night.
NEW GIRLFRIEND: Look closely.
Brooke’s eyes fill with tears.
NEW GIRLFRIEND: You thought Isaiah was ignoring you for no reason?
BROOKE: No… this can’t be real.
NEW GIRLFRIEND: He was with me.
Brooke looks away, trying to hold herself together, her breathing shaky.
BROOKE: You’re lying.
NEW GIRLFRIEND: Why would I lie about this?
Brooke looks back at the picture. The reality sinks in. She steps backward.
BROOKE: I trusted him… I trusted him completely.
The girl remains silent. Brooke covers her face as the tears finally fall.
Isaiah Arrives
A car pulls into the driveway. Isaiah steps out and notices Brooke immediately, his expression changing.
ISAIAH: Brooke?
Brooke looks at him through tears. He walks toward them, completely confused.
ISAIAH: What are you doing here?
Brooke doesn’t answer — her silence says everything. Isaiah looks at his girlfriend, then back at Brooke.
ISAIAH: Wait… what happened?
Brooke raises her phone, the picture still on the screen. Isaiah’s face drops.
BROOKE: You didn’t answer my messages because you were with her?
ISAIAH: Brooke, listen…
BROOKE: No. I came here because I thought something was wrong. I thought maybe you were upset with me. I never thought I would find this.
Isaiah steps closer.
ISAIAH: It’s not that simple.
BROOKE: Then explain it.
Isaiah looks toward his girlfriend, then back at Brooke. He has no clear answer.
ISAIAH: I… I don’t know what to say.
Brooke lets out a broken laugh through her tears.
BROOKE: That’s the problem, Isaiah. You always have something to say when it’s convenient.
ISAIAH: Brooke, please.
BROOKE: Please what?
Silence. Isaiah has no response.
The Confrontation
The new girlfriend steps forward.
NEW GIRLFRIEND: You should probably know the truth.
BROOKE: I already know enough.
NEW GIRLFRIEND: Do you?
Isaiah immediately interrupts.
ISAIAH: Stop.
NEW GIRLFRIEND: You’re the one who created this situation.
Isaiah looks trapped between the two of them. Brooke watches him carefully.
BROOKE: Is she telling the truth?
Isaiah remains silent. That silence hurts Brooke more than anything he could have said.
BROOKE: I asked you a simple question.
Isaiah finally looks at her.
ISAIAH: I messed up.
Brooke closes her eyes, struggling for a moment to keep herself standing there.
BROOKE: You really did.
What He’s Sorry For
She turns away. Isaiah follows.
ISAIAH: Brooke, wait.
She stops, but doesn’t turn around.
ISAIAH: I never wanted you to find out like this.
Brooke slowly turns back.
BROOKE: That’s what you’re worried about?
Isaiah looks down.
BROOKE: You’re not sorry that you hurt me. You’re sorry that I found out.
Isaiah has nothing to say. Brooke wipes her tears.
BROOKE: I came here looking for answers. Now I have them.
Brooke Walks Away
Brooke turns and walks toward the sidewalk. Isaiah remains standing in the driveway, his face filled with confusion and regret.
ISAIAH: Brooke…
She keeps walking. He doesn’t follow. The new girlfriend stands beside him. Isaiah looks at her, then watches Brooke disappear down the street.
ISAIAH: What am I supposed to do now?
The girl says nothing. Isaiah looks down at his phone — Brooke’s unanswered messages fill the screen. For the first time, he realizes how much damage his choices have caused.
Brooke Alone
Brooke walks several blocks away, then finally stops. She sits on a bench, staring at her phone. Her messages to Isaiah are still there. No response. She wipes her tears and locks the screen.
BROOKE: I deserved better than this.
She takes a deep breath. For a moment, she looks back toward Isaiah’s house — then turns away. The street becomes quiet again.
Back at the house, Isaiah remains standing outside, completely lost. He looks at his phone one more time. He knows things between him and Brooke may never be the same again.
Some silences say more than any explanation ever could.
