After hearing Isaiah’s words, Brooke remained completely silent for several minutes. She sat there trying to process everything that had just happened. A part of her still hoped that Isaiah would change his mind, agree to meet her, and give her the explanation she desperately wanted.

Instead, Isaiah had made his position clear. He was not interested in continuing their relationship, and he did not seem ready to sit down and have the conversation Brooke had been waiting for.

Brooke had allowed the situation to affect one of the biggest decisions in her life. She had been putting off college because she believed she needed to resolve things with Isaiah first. Now she was beginning to realize that she had been putting her own future on hold for someone who was no longer willing to fight for their relationship.

The question stayed in Brooke’s mind as she tried to control her emotions.

Sharra could see how deeply her daughter was hurting. Instead of criticizing Brooke, she sat beside her and calmly explained that sometimes the hardest decision is the one that protects your own future.

Sharra reminded Brooke that Isaiah had already made his feelings clear. Continuing to chase him would not change his decision. If anything, it would only make Brooke feel more hurt and disappointed.

“You have to start thinking about yourself now,” Sharra told her. “Your future cannot stay on hold because someone else decided to walk away.”

Brooke initially disagreed. She still wanted answers, and she still believed that one final conversation could somehow change everything. But as Sharra continued talking, Brooke slowly began to understand what her mother was saying.

Isaiah had made his choice. Now Brooke had to make hers.

The next morning, Brooke woke up with a different mindset. She knew that she could not spend another day waiting for Isaiah to decide what he wanted.

She began packing her belongings for college. Her movements were slow at first, but with every item she placed into her bag, she felt a little more confident. She packed her clothes, personal items, and everything she would need for the next chapter of her life.

Sharra watched her daughter preparing to leave and could not hide her happiness. She knew Brooke was still hurting, but she was proud that Brooke was finally choosing herself.

For the first time in a while, Brooke began thinking about what college could mean for her. It could be a fresh start. A new environment. New people. And most importantly, a chance to focus on something other than Isaiah.

Brooke was almost ready to leave when her phone suddenly vibrated.

She glanced at the screen and immediately froze.

The message was from Isaiah.

Brooke stared at his name for several seconds. After everything that had happened, she never expected to hear from him again so soon.

She opened the message carefully. Isaiah was asking to speak with her one last time. He said there was something important he needed to tell her.

Brooke’s heart immediately started racing. Just moments earlier, she had convinced herself that she was ready to move forward. Now Isaiah had suddenly appeared again, bringing all the emotions she had been trying to control back to the surface.

Sharra noticed the sudden change in Brooke’s expression and asked what had happened. Brooke slowly showed her the message.

Sharra read it carefully before looking back at her daughter. She knew exactly what Brooke was thinking. This was the moment Brooke had been waiting for, but it was also the moment that could pull her right back into the same emotional cycle.

Brooke admitted that she wanted to hear what Isaiah had to say. Even after everything he had done, part of her still wanted to know why he was suddenly asking for another conversation.

But another part of Brooke knew she had finally made progress. She had packed her bags. She had chosen college. She had started accepting that her relationship with Isaiah might really be over.

Now she had to decide whether one final conversation was worth risking all of that.

Brooke stood near the door with her college bag beside her and her phone still in her hand. She looked at Isaiah’s message again and again.

She knew that meeting him could give her the answers she wanted. But she also knew that hearing those answers might reopen wounds that had barely begun to heal.

Sharra did not force her daughter to make a decision. Instead, she reminded Brooke that whatever she chose, it needed to be a decision she could live with afterward.

Brooke took a deep breath and looked toward the door. Her college journey was waiting for her, but so was Isaiah’s unexpected request.

For the first time, Brooke understood that this was not simply about whether she should meet Isaiah. It was about whether she was finally ready to put herself first.
