Dan Begs Lauren for Forgiveness, But She Chooses Wayne
SCENE 1 — LAUREN’S NEW HOME — EVENING
The evening sun slowly disappears behind the houses as Lauren stands inside her new home. After everything she has been through, she finally feels that she has found a peaceful place where she can start a new chapter of her life.
Lauren looks around the living room and takes a deep breath. The house is quiet, comfortable, and peaceful. For the first time in a long time, she feels that she can finally live without constantly looking over her shoulder.
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
Lauren suddenly freezes. The peaceful expression on her face disappears. She slowly walks toward the front door and looks outside.
Her heart sinks when she sees Dan standing there.
LAUREN
“Dan? What are you doing here?”
Dan looks nervous. Unlike before, he does not appear angry or aggressive. Instead, he looks like someone who has finally realized how badly he has damaged his relationship with Lauren.
DAN
“Lauren, please. I just need a few minutes to talk to you.”
Lauren hesitates before opening the door. She keeps a little distance between them.
LAUREN
“You shouldn’t be here.”
DAN
“I know. I know I shouldn’t have come without calling you first. But I couldn’t keep everything inside anymore. I needed to see you.”
Lauren crosses her arms. Her expression makes it clear that she has no intention of making this easy for him.
LAUREN
“You already had your chances, Dan.”
Dan lowers his head.
DAN
“I know. And I ruined every single one of them.”
SCENE 2 — DAN’S APOLOGY
Dan takes a deep breath. He knows that this may be his final opportunity to tell Lauren what has been on his mind.
DAN
“I’m here to say I’m sorry. I’m sorry for the way I treated you. I’m sorry for the arguments, the pressure, and all the pain I caused you.”
Lauren remains silent.
Dan continues, his voice becoming emotional.
DAN
“I know saying sorry doesn’t erase what I did. I know it doesn’t magically fix everything. But I needed you to hear me say it.”
Lauren looks away. For a brief moment, his words affect her. But the memories of everything that happened between them quickly return.
LAUREN
“You should have thought about all of that before you hurt me.”
Dan slowly nods.
DAN
“You’re right.”
A long silence follows.
Then, suddenly, another car pulls up outside the house.
Lauren looks toward the driveway.
Wayne has arrived.
SCENE 3 — WAYNE ARRIVES
Wayne gets out of his car and walks toward the house. The moment he sees Dan standing at Lauren’s door, he realizes that something serious is happening.
WAYNE
“Dan?”
Dan remains silent.
Lauren steps forward.
LAUREN
“Wayne, it’s okay.”
WAYNE
“Are you sure?”
Lauren nods confidently.
LAUREN
“I’m sure.”
Dan looks at both of them. Seeing Lauren standing beside Wayne makes him realize just how much has changed.
DAN
“So this is it? You really moved on?”
LAUREN
“Yes, Dan.”
Those two words hit Dan harder than he expected.
SCENE 4 — LAUREN CHOOSES PEACE
Dan looks at Lauren with tears building in his eyes. He knows that he is losing the person he once believed would always be there for him.
DAN
“I was hoping maybe there was still a chance for us.”
LAUREN
“A chance for what?”
DAN
“For us.”
Lauren immediately shakes her head.
LAUREN
“No, Dan. You can’t come back into my life whenever you suddenly realize that you made mistakes.”
Her voice becomes stronger.
LAUREN
“I spent too much time trying to make things work. I spent too much time forgiving things that should never have happened.”
Dan desperately tries to convince her.
DAN
“I can change.”
LAUREN
“Maybe you can. But you don’t get to change and then demand that I wait for you.”
Dan becomes silent.
Lauren takes a breath before delivering the words he fears the most.
LAUREN
“I can’t forgive you. I’m happy with Wayne now. You need to leave my house.”
SCENE 5 — DAN IS HEARTBROKEN
Dan stares at Lauren in disbelief.
DAN
“You’re really asking me to leave?”
LAUREN
“Yes. This is my home now, and I want peace here. Please leave, Dan.”
Dan looks at Wayne. Wayne doesn’t say anything. He simply stands beside Lauren and respects her decision.
Dan realizes that there is nothing more he can say.
DAN
“I really did love you.”
LAUREN
“Then you should have treated me like it.”
Dan lowers his head. He slowly turns around and walks toward his car.
Before getting inside, he looks back at Lauren one final time.
Lauren doesn’t move.
Dan gets into his car and drives away.
SCENE 6 — DAN’S REGRET
Inside his car, Dan sits silently. His hands grip the steering wheel while memories of his past with Lauren flood his mind.
He remembers every argument, every mistake, and every moment when Lauren asked him to change.
DAN
“What have I done?”
His voice breaks.
DAN
“I really lost her.”
Dan starts the car and drives away, carrying the weight of his regret with him.
For the first time, he understands something important: an apology does not automatically earn forgiveness, and forgiveness does not always mean reconciliation.
SCENE 7 — LAUREN MOVES FORWARD
Meanwhile, Lauren closes the front door and leans against it. She takes a deep breath, finally releasing the tension she has been holding inside.
Wayne stands beside her.
WAYNE
“Are you okay?”
LAUREN
“I’m going to be.”
Wayne gently nods.
WAYNE
“You don’t have to explain anything to me.”
Lauren looks at Wayne and smiles softly.
LAUREN
“Thank you.”
Wayne takes her hand.
WAYNE
“Then let’s protect that peace.”
Lauren looks around her new home.
She knows that her decision was difficult, but she also knows that she cannot continue living in the past.
FINAL MOMENT
Outside, the street becomes quiet as Dan disappears into the distance.
Inside the house, Lauren and Wayne stand together, ready to move forward.
Lauren has chosen peace.
Dan has been left with regret.
But one question remains:
“What will Dan do now that Lauren has finally closed the door on their past?”
