Late afternoon. Darren stands outside a small store, scrolling through his phone. His expression is calm at first. Then suddenly, he freezes.
DARREN: Wait… what did you just say?
The person on the phone repeats the news. Darren’s eyes slowly widen.
DARREN: Lauren is with Wayne?
A long silence follows. Darren lowers the phone and stares into the distance. His face begins to fill with anger.
DARREN: No… that can’t be true.
His hands tighten into fists.
DARREN: Lauren… Wayne’s new girlfriend?
The news keeps replaying in his mind. He remembers Lauren. He remembers the history between them. And now, all he can think about is Wayne. Darren’s breathing becomes heavier.

He turns sharply and starts walking toward his car.

WAYNE: Finally?
LAUREN: Don’t push it.
They both laugh softly. For a brief moment, everything feels peaceful.

LAUREN: With what?
WAYNE: With us.
Lauren pauses for a moment. Then she smiles.

WAYNE: Lauren is standing right here. She can make her own decisions.

DARREN: You’re defending him?
