THE LINE DAN SHOULD NEVER HAVE CROSSED

THE LINE DAN SHOULD NEVER HAVE CROSSED

HOOK

The room went silent the moment Dan said the one thing Wayne could never forgive.

He had insulted Wayne before.

He had threatened him before.

But this time, Dan had dragged Anthony’s girlfriend into the fight—and that changed everything.

Outside the house, three men stood face-to-face, their anger rising with every second.

DAN
“You’re a disgusting man, Wayne. You took my wife away from me, and now you’re going after Anthony’s girlfriend too?”

Dan’s voice shook with rage.

WAYNE
“Watch your mouth, Dan. You have no idea what you’re talking about.”
DAN
“Oh, I know exactly what I’m talking about.”

Dan stepped closer.

“You destroyed my marriage. You ruined everything I had. And now you’re doing the same thing to Anthony.”

Anthony, who had been standing quietly nearby, suddenly stepped forward.

ANTHONY
“Leave my girlfriend out of this.”

Dan turned toward him.

For a moment, nobody spoke.

DAN
“Why? Because the truth hurts?”

Anthony’s expression changed instantly.

He looked at Wayne. Wayne looked back at him.

Both men understood exactly what Dan was trying to do.

And both were furious.

SCENE ONE — THE CONFRONTATION

The wind moved through the empty street as Dan continued provoking them.

DAN
“You think you can just take whatever you want? First my wife. Now Anthony’s girlfriend. How many lives are you planning to destroy?”

Wayne took one step forward.

WAYNE
“You’re blaming me for everything that went wrong in your life.”

Dan laughed.

DAN
“You know what? Maybe I should blame you.”

Anthony moved beside Wayne.

ANTHONY
“Enough, Dan.”

Dan looked directly into Anthony’s eyes.

DAN
“You’re defending him?”
ANTHONY
“I’m defending the truth.”

Dan’s smile disappeared.

The tension suddenly became unbearable.

Wayne clenched his jaw.

WAYNE
“You came here looking for a fight.”
DAN
“No.”

Dan slowly pointed toward Wayne.

“I came here to make you understand that you can’t keep hurting people and walking away.”
ANTHONY
“And what are you going to do about it?”

Dan stared at him.

The question seemed to ignite something inside him.

SCENE TWO — THE ANGER EXPLODES

Dan suddenly moved toward Wayne.

Wayne immediately squared his shoulders.

Anthony stepped between them for a second, but Dan pushed past him.

DAN
“You think I’m scared of you?”
WAYNE
“I never said you were.”
“I said you should walk away.”
DAN
“Not this time.”

Anthony grabbed Dan’s attention.

ANTHONY
“You’re not touching Wayne.”

Dan turned toward Anthony.

DAN
“And you’re not stopping me.”

Anthony’s fists tightened.

Wayne looked at Anthony, then back at Dan.

Both men were now completely focused on him.

Dan suddenly realized he had pushed them too far.

But instead of backing away, he made one final mistake.

DAN
“You two are exactly alike.”

Wayne’s eyes narrowed.

ANTHONY
“Say that again.”

Dan repeated himself.

“You heard me.”

For several seconds, nobody moved.

Then Wayne and Anthony slowly began closing the distance.

Dan looked from one man to the other.

His confidence started fading.

SCENE THREE — THE TARGET

Dan backed toward the driveway.

DAN
“Wait…”

Anthony didn’t stop.

ANTHONY
“You wanted our attention.”

Wayne moved from the other side.

WAYNE
“Now you have it.”

Dan looked around.

There was nowhere left to go.

DAN
“I was only telling the truth!”
WAYNE
“You crossed a line when you brought Anthony’s girlfriend into this.”
ANTHONY
“And you crossed another one when you blamed Wayne for everything.”

Dan swallowed hard.

The two men stood in front of him, their anger obvious.

Dan suddenly realized something.

He had come there believing he could control the confrontation.

But now, he was the one being cornered.

SCENE FOUR — THE UNEXPECTED INTERRUPTION

Just as Anthony stepped closer, a loud sound came from behind them.

Everyone froze.

A car had stopped at the end of the street.

The headlights illuminated the entire driveway.

Dan looked toward the vehicle.

Wayne and Anthony exchanged a confused glance.

The driver’s door slowly opened.

Someone stepped out.

Dan’s face suddenly changed.

DAN
“No…”

Anthony noticed his reaction.

ANTHONY
“Who is that?”

Dan didn’t answer.

Wayne stared toward the approaching figure.

WAYNE
“Dan… who did you bring here?”

Dan took a step backward.

For the first time that night, he looked genuinely afraid.

The stranger continued walking toward them.

Nobody knew why they had come.

Nobody knew what they wanted.
