The Confrontation Between Isaiah and Cameron

THE CONFRONTATION BETWEEN ISAIAH AND CAMERON

INT. APARTMENT – LIVING ROOM – NIGHT

The apartment is quiet.

The tension from earlier still hangs heavily in the air.

CAMERON stands near the window, staring outside.

He looks frustrated and exhausted.

The front door suddenly opens.

ISAIAH walks inside.

His expression is serious.

He closes the door behind him and immediately looks toward Cameron.

Cameron turns.

The two friends stare at each other.

Neither speaks for several seconds.

Isaiah slowly walks closer.

ISAIAH

Cameron, I need to ask you something.

Cameron folds his arms.

CAMERON

What?

ISAIAH

Why did you tell Brooke about what happened between us?

Cameron looks away.

CAMERON

Because she deserved to know.

ISAIAH

You had no right to tell her without talking to me first.

CAMERON

And you had no right to keep lying to her.

ISAIAH

I wasn’t trying to hurt Brooke.

CAMERON

Then what were you doing?

Isaiah doesn’t answer immediately.

CAMERON

You’re my friend, Isaiah. I trusted you. But I don’t understand why you would treat Brooke this way.

ISAIAH

Don’t act like you know everything.

CAMERON

I know enough.

Isaiah steps closer.

ISAIAH

You told Brooke everything because you wanted her against me.

CAMERON

No. I told her because she deserved the truth.

The room becomes silent.

ISAIAH

You really think you’re helping?

CAMERON

I’m trying to stop Brooke from being hurt again.

ISAIAH

You keep talking about Brooke like she’s the only person who matters here.

CAMERON

Because she is the one who got hurt.

ISAIAH

And what about me?

CAMERON

You made your choices.

Isaiah looks away, deeply frustrated.

ISAIAH

I never expected this from you.

CAMERON

Neither did I.

ISAIAH

You were supposed to be my friend.

CAMERON

I am your friend. That’s why I’m telling you the truth.

ISAIAH

Then why does it feel like you’re against me?

Cameron doesn’t answer.

A long silence fills the room.

CAMERON

Because I can’t stand by and watch you use Brooke.

ISAIAH

I’m not using Brooke!

CAMERON

Then prove it.

ISAIAH

I don’t have to prove anything to you.

CAMERON

You do when you’re hurting someone I care about.

Isaiah’s anger grows.

ISAIAH

You don’t know what Brooke and I have been through.

CAMERON

Maybe not. But I know what I saw.

ISAIAH

What did you see?

CAMERON

I saw Brooke getting hurt.

ISAIAH

And you think you’re the one who can save her?

CAMERON

No. I think Brooke can make her own decisions.

Isaiah looks away.

The argument becomes more intense.

ISAIAH

You should have come to me first.

CAMERON

Maybe I should have. But you should have told Brooke the truth yourself.

ISAIAH

You betrayed me.

CAMERON

I didn’t betray you. I refused to lie for you.

ISAIAH

You don’t understand.

CAMERON

Then make me understand.

Isaiah remains silent.

Cameron waits.

Nothing.

CAMERON

That’s what I thought.

Isaiah suddenly becomes furious and moves toward Cameron.

ISAIAH

Don’t talk to me like that.

CAMERON

Then stop giving me reasons to.

Isaiah lashes out physically. Cameron is caught off guard and stumbles backward.

The argument immediately turns into a physical confrontation.

They struggle briefly, knocking into a chair.

CAMERON

Isaiah, stop!

ISAIAH

You had no right!

Cameron tries to create distance between them.

CAMERON

I’m not fighting you!

Isaiah steps forward again.

Cameron raises his hands defensively.

CAMERON

Listen to me!

Isaiah finally pauses.

Both men breathe heavily.

The room is silent.

CAMERON

Look at us. This is what you wanted?

Isaiah says nothing.

CAMERON

We’re supposed to be friends.

Isaiah looks down. His anger begins to fade.

ISAIAH

You don’t understand what she means to me.

CAMERON

Then stop making choices that hurt her.

ISAIAH

I made mistakes.

CAMERON

Then admit them.

ISAIAH

And you think telling Brooke everything fixes it?

CAMERON

No. But keeping her in the dark would have made it worse.

Isaiah takes a deep breath.

The tension begins to settle.

ISAIAH

I was angry.

CAMERON

I know.

ISAIAH

I didn’t come here planning to fight you.

CAMERON

Neither did I.

ISAIAH

But when you told Brooke everything, I felt like you turned against me.

CAMERON

I didn’t turn against you. I chose to tell the truth.

ISAIAH

Even if it cost our friendship?

CAMERON

A real friendship shouldn’t depend on keeping secrets.

Isaiah looks away. His expression shows that the words have affected him.

ISAIAH

So what happens now?

CAMERON

Now you talk to Brooke.

ISAIAH

And if she doesn’t want to listen?

CAMERON

Then you respect her decision.

ISAIAH

You really care about her.

CAMERON

Yes. But that doesn’t mean I get to decide her future either.

For the first time, neither of them is angry.

There is still tension between them, but the confrontation has finally stopped.

A sound comes from the hallway.

Both men turn.

Hope and Faith stand near the doorway.

They look concerned.

HOPE

Are you two okay?

CAMERON

We’re fine.

FAITH

It doesn’t look fine.

ISAIAH

We had an argument.

HOPE

We heard.

CAMERON

Things got out of control.

ISAIAH

But we’re done.

HOPE

Good. Because fighting isn’t going to solve anything.

CAMERON

She’s right.

ISAIAH

Yeah.

A long silence follows.

Isaiah walks toward the door.

Before leaving, he turns back.

ISAIAH

Cameron.

CAMERON

What?

ISAIAH

We’re still going to have a lot to talk about.

CAMERON

I know.

Isaiah opens the door.

He pauses for a moment.

ISAIAH

But I’m going to talk to Brooke first.

CAMERON

That’s what you should do.

Isaiah walks out.

The door closes behind him.

Cameron remains standing in the living room.

Hope and Faith look at him.

Cameron takes a deep breath.

The confrontation is over. But the truth has changed everything.

And now Isaiah must face Brooke and answer for his choices.

FADE OUT.
