WHEN AMBER FINDS DAVE WITH EVELYN
SCENE 1 — AMBER’S LIVING ROOM — AFTERNOON
Amber sits on the couch, staring at her phone.
AMBER
Come on, Dave. Pick up the phone.
The call rings. No answer.
AMBER
Seriously? You can’t answer one phone call?
Amber’s expression changes from annoyance to suspicion.
AMBER
Okay… something is definitely going on.
SCENE 2 — DAVE’S HOUSE — SAME TIME
Dave sits comfortably inside the house while Evelyn is nearby.
Dave’s phone vibrates.
Amber’s name appears on the screen.
DAVE
Not right now.
EVELYN
You know she’s going to get suspicious.
DAVE
I know.
SCENE 3 — AMBER CONNECTS THE DOTS
Amber walks around her living room, frustrated.
AMBER
Ten calls… and not one answer.
She suddenly stops.
AMBER
Wait a minute.
AMBER
What if Dave is with Evelyn?
Amber grabs her purse and keys.
AMBER
I’m about to find out.
SCENE 4 — DAVE’S HOUSE — LATER
Dave and Evelyn are still talking.
Suddenly, there is a loud knock at the door.
DAVE
Who is that?
The door opens. Amber walks in and immediately sees Evelyn.
AMBER
Oh…
AMBER
So THIS is why you couldn’t answer your phone?
DAVE
Amber—
AMBER
I knew something was going on!
SCENE 5 — THE CONFRONTATION
AMBER
What exactly are you doing here?
EVELYN
I came to see Dave. That’s all.
AMBER
That’s all?
DAVE
Amber, leave Evelyn out of this.
AMBER
Leave her out of this? She’s standing in your house!
DAVE
And you’re making this bigger than it needs to be.
AMBER
Because you’re defending her!
Dave steps between them.
DAVE
I’m telling you to stop disrespecting her.
Amber stares at him in disbelief.
SCENE 6 — AMBER FEELS BETRAYED
AMBER
So that’s how it’s going to be?
DAVE
Amber, listen—
AMBER
No. You listen.
Her voice becomes quieter, but more emotional.
AMBER
I called because I was worried about you.
DAVE
I understand.
AMBER
No, you don’t.
AMBER
I kept calling because I thought something happened to you.
DAVE
I should have answered. I admit that.
AMBER
Then why didn’t you?
SCENE 7 — THE FINAL BLOW
Amber grabs her purse.
AMBER
I came here looking for answers.
AMBER
Now I have them.
DAVE
Amber, don’t walk away like this.
AMBER
You already made your choice when you ignored my calls.
DAVE
That’s not what happened.
AMBER
Then tell me what happened.
Dave hesitates.
Nothing.
AMBER
That’s what I thought.
Amber turns toward the door.
AMBER
Just remember, Dave… secrets don’t stay secrets forever.
Amber walks out. The door slams shut.
