Brooke’s Decision to Leave
1. Brooke’s Decision Changes Everything
The house was unusually quiet. Brooke had decided to leave, and her decision was about to change everyone’s lives. While Brooke packed her belongings, Larry was also busy putting his clothes into a suitcase. He had made up his mind to leave with her. Although sadness filled his heart, he knew he could no longer stay in a house where he felt unwanted.
When Bethany entered the room, she froze at the sight of Larry packing his things. She stared at him in disbelief and asked,
“Larry, where are you going? Why are you packing your bags?”
Larry stopped for a moment before answering.
“I’m going with Brooke. If Brooke isn’t going to be here anymore, what reason do I have to stay here with you?”
Bethany felt as though the ground had disappeared beneath her feet. She had never imagined that Larry would actually leave her. She had always believed that no matter what happened between them, he would remain by her side.
2. Bethany’s Heart Begins to Break
Bethany stepped closer to Larry, desperately searching his face for any sign that he was joking.
“What are you saying, Larry? Are you really going to leave me? How am I supposed to live here alone?”
Larry closed his suitcase and replied coldly,
“I was only staying here because of Brooke. Now that she’s leaving, I have no reason to remain in this house.”
His words pierced Bethany’s heart. Tears began to fill her eyes as she reached for his hand.
“Larry, I’m your wife! You can’t just walk away from me like this. You have to stay with me. Doesn’t our relationship mean anything to you?”
Larry gently pulled his hand away. His expression showed years of disappointment and pain. He had kept his feelings hidden for far too long, but now he was ready to speak the truth.
3. Larry Reveals His Painful Truth
Larry looked directly into Bethany’s eyes and said,
“Since when have you truly been my wife, Bethany? Being married on paper doesn’t make someone a real partner. You never treated me like your husband. You never respected me or tried to understand my feelings.”
Bethany stood silently, unable to find the right words. She knew their relationship had been falling apart for a long time, but she had never believed Larry would reach the point of leaving her.
Larry continued, his voice filled with hurt.
“If you had respected me from your heart, I would still be standing beside you today. I would never have thought about leaving you. But I’m tired, Bethany. I’m tired of being in a relationship where I have no value and my feelings don’t matter.”
Bethany’s tears rolled down her cheeks. For the first time, she realized how deeply Larry had been hurt. She wanted to stop him, but she didn’t know what she could possibly say to change his mind.
4. Bethany’s Desperate Plea
As Larry picked up his suitcase and walked toward the door, Bethany hurried after him. She grabbed his hand and began crying uncontrollably.
“Please, Larry! Don’t leave me like this. I can’t live without you. I know I’ve made mistakes, but please give me one more chance. I’ll make everything right. I’ll respect you, listen to you, and treat you the way you deserve. Just don’t leave me alone!”
Larry stopped. For a moment, he looked at her with sadness in his eyes. A part of him still remembered the good times they had shared, but the pain of the past was difficult to forget.
“Why didn’t you value me when I was right here beside you? Why are you suddenly remembering our marriage now that I’m leaving? Tell me, Bethany. Is this love, or are you simply afraid of losing me?”
Bethany shook her head desperately.
“No, Larry! I truly love you. I don’t want to lose you. Please believe me!”
Larry remained silent. He turned toward the door while Bethany fell to her knees, begging him to stay. Her cries echoed through the empty hallway, but Larry still couldn’t bring himself to promise that he would remain.
5. The Mysterious Letter
Larry opened the front door and prepared to leave. Just then, his phone vibrated. A message from Brooke appeared on the screen.
“Larry, before you leave with me, there’s something you need to know. Bethany has been hiding a terrible secret from you. Look inside your suitcase, underneath your clothes. You’ll find a letter there. Read it before making your final decision.”
Larry stared at the message in confusion. Slowly, he placed his suitcase on the floor and searched beneath his clothes. His fingers touched an old envelope with his name written across the front.
He opened it and began reading. Within seconds, the color drained from his face. His hands started trembling as he reached the final lines.
Bethany noticed his reaction and immediately stopped crying. She looked at the letter, and all the color disappeared from her face.
“Larry… you opened the letter?”
Larry slowly raised his head. His eyes were filled with shock and disbelief. He crushed the letter in his fist and whispered,
“Bethany, if what’s written here is true, why did you hide such a terrible secret from me? And how did Brooke find out about it?”
Bethany opened her mouth, but no words came out. Suddenly, the sound of a car stopping outside broke the silence. Someone knocked on the front door.
Larry turned toward the entrance. Bethany stepped backward, trembling with fear. Whoever was standing outside seemed to be the last person she wanted Larry to meet.
Larry slowly opened the door.
The moment he saw the person standing before him, the letter slipped from his fingers. His eyes widened, and he took a step backward in disbelief.
It was someone he had believed would never return. The stranger looked straight at Larry and said, “You deserve to know the truth about your marriage. But before I tell you everything, you must understand one thing: Brooke is not the person you think she is.”
Larry turned toward Bethany, who was now crying in terror. What was written in the mysterious letter? What had Brooke been hiding? And who was the stranger standing at the door? The truth was about to come out—and it could destroy all three of their lives forever.
