The Woman Who Refused to Let Dave Go
Scene 1 — The Unexpected Visitor
Dave stands near the living-room window, looking over the wedding arrangements Amber has carefully planned. His phone vibrates. An unfamiliar message reads: “We need to talk. You owe me that much, Dave.” He recognizes Evelyn’s number, and his smile disappears.
Another message arrives: “Don’t pretend you don’t know who this is. We both know our story isn’t over.” Before Dave can respond, the doorbell rings. Evelyn stands outside, elegant and nervous, with determination beneath her expression.
Evelyn notices a wedding photograph of Dave and Amber. Her face changes when she realizes the wedding is really happening. Dave tells her Amber is the woman he loves. He allows Evelyn five minutes to talk, hoping to close the chapter without reopening it.
Scene 2 — The Past Becomes a Weapon
Evelyn reminds Dave of the promises they made and insists that their history should count for more. Dave explains that their relationship ended because things were not working between them. Their past matters, he says, but it does not entitle her to control his future.
Evelyn realizes that guilt and memories will not be enough to make Dave return. Her sadness sharpens into determination as she begins searching for another way to reach him.
Scene 3 — The Tears Behind the Promises
Evelyn changes her approach. She wipes her eyes and admits that she misses Dave, their conversations, and the good days they once shared. She promises to change and asks for one chance to prove she can be different.
For a moment, Dave remembers their laughter and the future they once imagined. But he also remembers why it fell apart. He refuses to make a life-changing decision simply because Evelyn is upset. Evelyn mistakes his silence for uncertainty, not understanding that it is not a promise.
Scene 4 — The Woman Who Wants the Wedding Stopped
Evelyn follows Dave into the kitchen and finally makes her demand: she wants him to end things with Amber before the wedding and marry her instead. She promises to listen, support him, and never repeat their old mistakes.
Dave refuses. Evelyn looks toward the wedding photograph and says she will find another way to make him understand. She picks up her purse and leaves, but her silence suggests she has not given up.
Scene 5 — Amber Notices Something Different
Amber calls Dave and immediately senses that something is wrong. Dave tells her Evelyn visited and asked for another chance. He assures Amber that he is not going back and wants the future they are building together.
After the call, Dave receives another message from Evelyn: “You think this is over because you said no? You haven’t heard the whole story yet.” His relief disappears.
Scene 6 — Evelyn’s Last Card
Alone in her car, Evelyn replays Dave’s rejection. She opens a conversation with someone whose involvement she has kept hidden. A new message surprises her: the sender has already spoken to Dave.
She tells the person not to contact Dave again until she works out what to do. Then she opens Dave’s contact and sends a warning: “There’s something about your past that Amber needs to know.” She hesitates before sending it, aware that the secret may change everything.
Scene 7 — The Message That Could Change Everything
Dave calls Evelyn and demands the truth. She tells him that before he walks down the aisle, he must ask Amber about someone who came back into her life. Dave suspects another manipulation, but her words leave him uneasy.
He calls Amber and asks if anyone from her past has contacted her recently. Amber grows quiet and asks whether Evelyn told him something. Dave realizes there may be more to the story than he knows.
Suddenly, a man’s voice comes through in the background.
Dave goes completely still.
Amber whispers that Dave deserves to hear the truth, but before she can explain, the call disconnects. Dave calls back—no answer. Across town, Evelyn sees a notification light up her phone. She still doesn’t know whether Dave will leave Amber, but the wedding she feared may no longer be certain.
