Bethany Returns With Divorce Papers

BETHANY RETURNS WITH DIVORCE PAPERS — LARRY IS LEFT SPEECHLESS!

A Cinematic Story of Betrayal, Anger, and a Marriage on the Brink of Collapse

SCENE 1: BETHANY SECRETLY LEAVES

INT. LARRY AND BETHANY’S HOUSE — NIGHT

The house is silent, but Bethany’s heart is filled with disappointment. She stands near the bedroom window, remembering every argument and broken promise that brought her marriage to this point.

She picks up her handbag and looks at Larry sleeping peacefully.

BETHANY

I gave you my trust, Larry. I stood beside you when things were difficult, but you made me feel like I was fighting for this marriage alone.

She wipes away a tear, takes a deep breath, and quietly leaves the house without waking him.

Bethany disappears into the night, leaving Larry completely unaware that their marriage is about to change forever.

SCENE 2: LARRY DISCOVERS SHE IS GONE

INT. BEDROOM — EARLY MORNING

Larry wakes up and reaches across the bed. Bethany’s side is empty. He checks the bathroom, then searches the living room and kitchen.

LARRY

Bethany? Where are you?

He notices that her handbag and several belongings are missing. He immediately calls her phone, but she doesn’t answer.

LARRY

Why would she leave without telling me? What happened?

His confusion turns into worry. For the first time, he wonders whether Bethany has finally reached her breaking point.

SCENE 3: BROOKE FACES LARRY’S QUESTIONS

INT. LIVING ROOM — MORNING

Larry approaches Brooke, who is preparing to leave the house.

LARRY

Brooke, have you seen Bethany? I can’t find her anywhere.

BROOKE

No. Maybe she needs some time alone.

LARRY

You don’t understand. She isn’t answering my calls.

BROOKE

Maybe you should think about why she felt she had to leave.

Her words silence Larry. Brooke walks away, leaving him to consider the possibility that his own actions have pushed Bethany away.

SCENE 4: A DESPERATE SEARCH

EXT. CITY STREETS — AFTERNOON

Larry drives through familiar neighborhoods, checks a nearby café, and calls Bethany repeatedly. Every attempt leaves him with the same unanswered question.

LARRY

Please answer your phone, Bethany. We can talk about anything. Just tell me you’re okay.

He sits inside his parked car, staring at the screen. His anger slowly gives way to fear. He remembers the times Bethany tried to explain her unhappiness while he dismissed her concerns.

As evening approaches, Larry finally heads home, exhausted and without answers.

SCENE 5: A LONELY NIGHT

INT. LIVING ROOM — NIGHT

The house feels different without Bethany. Larry sits on the sofa and picks up an old photograph of them smiling together.

LARRY

What happened to us? I thought we could get through anything.

He remembers their happier days and realizes that he may have taken Bethany’s patience for granted. He places the photograph on the table and looks toward the empty doorway.

Sleep never comes easily that night. Larry has no idea that the next morning will bring a confrontation he will never forget.

SCENE 6: BETHANY MAKES A SHOCKING RETURN

INT. LARRY’S HOUSE — THE NEXT DAY

The front door opens. Larry looks up from the sofa and freezes.

Bethany stands in the doorway wearing an elegant outfit, with perfectly styled hair and a determined expression. In her hand is a thick envelope.

LARRY

Bethany! Where have you been? I’ve been searching everywhere for you!

BETHANY

Oh, now you’re worried about me?

LARRY

Of course I am. You’re my wife!

BETHANY

You remember that when it’s convenient, Larry. But where was that concern when I needed you?

Larry takes a step toward her, hoping to calm the situation. Bethany remains unmoved.

SCENE 7: BETHANY REVEALS HER PAIN

INT. LIVING ROOM — CONTINUOUS

Bethany places her handbag on the table. Her voice trembles, but she refuses to let her emotions silence her.

BETHANY

I spent so many nights wondering whether this marriage meant as much to you as it meant to me. I kept giving you chances, hoping things would change.

LARRY

I never wanted to hurt you. We can fix this.

BETHANY

Wanting to fix things now doesn’t erase everything that happened before.

She reaches into her handbag and pulls out the envelope. Larry watches her, suddenly afraid of what she is about to reveal.

LARRY

Bethany, what’s in that envelope?

BETHANY

The decision I should have made a long time ago.

SCENE 8: THE DIVORCE PAPERS

INT. LIVING ROOM — MOMENTS LATER

Bethany opens the envelope and pulls out the divorce papers. Before Larry can react, she throws the documents toward his face. The pages flutter down onto the sofa and floor.

BETHANY

Those are divorce papers, Larry!

Larry stands speechless. He slowly picks up the documents and looks at her in disbelief.

LARRY

You’re really asking for a divorce? Bethany, please tell me you’re not serious.

BETHANY

I’m done begging for the love, respect, and honesty that should have been there from the beginning.

LARRY

I still love you. We can start again.

BETHANY

Then you should have shown me that when I needed you most. Sign the papers.

The divorce papers lie between them, and Larry realizes that this time, Bethany may truly mean goodbye.

SCENE 9: LARRY REFUSES TO DECIDE

INT. LIVING ROOM — CONTINUOUS

Larry studies the signature line. He had always believed Bethany would eventually forgive him. Now, he understands that their relationship may be closer to its end than he ever imagined.

LARRY

What happens if I don’t sign them?

BETHANY

Then you’ll prove that you’re still thinking only about what you want instead of what I need.

Larry looks into her eyes, searching for a sign that she might reconsider.

LARRY

You’re ready to walk away from everything we’ve built together?

BETHANY

I’m ready to stop losing myself trying to save something you refused to protect.

After a long silence, Larry places the papers on the table.

LARRY

I can’t make this decision right now. I need time to think.

Bethany shakes her head, disappointed by his response.

SCENE 10: BETHANY WALKS AWAY

INT. FRONT DOOR — MOMENTS LATER

Bethany picks up her handbag and walks toward the door. Larry follows her, his voice filled with desperation.

LARRY

Please wait! Give me one more chance to make things right.

Bethany pauses and turns toward him for the last time.

BETHANY

I’ve given you chance after chance, Larry. Now the next move is yours.

She steps outside and closes the door. Larry remains standing in the hallway before returning to the living room.

He picks up the divorce papers. A pen lies beside the signature line. He looks at the closed door, wondering whether his wife will ever return.

LARRY

What am I supposed to do now?
