SCENE 1 — THE MOMENT EVERYTHING CHANGED
Amber had waited for this night longer than anyone realized. She had imagined it so many times that, in her mind, she already knew exactly how it would feel.
Dave standing beside her. Everyone watching. No more questions. No more uncertainty. No more wondering where their relationship was going.
But Amber had no idea that before the night ended, she would learn something that could change everything between them.
The house was alive with music, laughter, and conversation. People moved between the living room and dining area, carrying drinks, talking, laughing, and enjoying the evening.
Anthony stood near the dining area with D’Nisha. Wayne was nearby with YaYa, occasionally joining the conversation before looking around at the rest of the room.
Everything looked normal. Everything felt normal. Except for Amber.
She stood across the room, quietly watching Dave. Dave was talking to someone, smiling as if nothing was wrong.
Amber studied him carefully. She had been thinking about one question all evening.
Would he finally do it?
Would he finally make their relationship public in front of everyone? Amber slowly took a breath.
Then she walked toward him.
SCENE 2 — AMBER MAKES HER REQUEST
Amber stopped beside Dave.
Dave immediately noticed the seriousness in her voice. His smile faded slightly.
Amber glanced around the room. Nobody seemed to be paying attention to them. She motioned toward a quieter corner.
Dave followed her. They stopped a short distance away from everyone else.
Amber folded her hands together, trying to control her emotions.
Dave waited.
Amber looked toward the room again. Anthony and D’Nisha were still talking. Wayne and YaYa were laughing about something. Nobody knew what Amber was about to ask.
Dave looked at her more carefully.
Amber took another breath. Then she finally said it.
Dave remained silent. Amber stepped slightly closer.
Dave’s expression changed.
Amber’s voice became quieter.
She looked directly into his eyes.
Dave looked toward the room. For a moment, he didn’t answer.
The silence between them suddenly felt much heavier than the music behind them.
SCENE 3 — DAVE’S ANSWER
Dave looked back at her. His expression softened.
Amber nodded immediately.
Dave studied her face. There was no anger in her expression. No pressure. Just hope.
Finally, Dave reached for her hand.
Amber’s eyes widened.
Amber smiled. For the first time that evening, the tension inside her disappeared.
Dave smiled. But before Amber could step away, his expression became more mysterious.
Her smile slowly disappeared.
Then he walked away.
Amber remained standing there. Her heart was beating faster. She couldn’t tell whether she was excited or nervous.
SCENE 4 — THE ROOM GOES QUIET
Dave returned to the group. Anthony noticed something different about his expression.
D’Nisha looked toward Amber. Wayne stopped talking. YaYa turned around.
Dave slowly stepped forward. The music continued for another few seconds.
Then Dave raised his hand.
The room gradually became quieter. People turned toward him.
Amber stood several feet behind Dave. She knew what was coming. At least, she thought she did.
The room became completely silent.
Amber’s heart started pounding. She imagined Dave saying the words she had been waiting to hear.
She imagined him telling everyone that she was the woman he wanted beside him. She imagined the relief, the smiles, and the congratulations.
For a moment, Amber almost laughed from happiness.
Then Dave reached into his pocket.
Amber froze.
Anthony’s eyebrows lifted. Wayne looked at YaYa. YaYa stared at Dave.
Nobody said anything.
Dave slowly pulled something from his pocket.
Dave looked toward her. He didn’t answer. He simply held the object in his hand.
SCENE 5 — THE SECRET IN DAVE’S HAND
Amber took one small step forward.
Dave continued looking at her. His expression was calm. Almost too calm.
Amber slowly walked toward him. Every eye in the room followed her.
She could feel the tension building.
Amber stopped in front of Dave. She looked at his hand. Still, she couldn’t see what he was holding.
Amber looked around. Everyone was waiting.
Dave took a slow breath.
Amber’s eyes filled with emotion. She thought she finally understood.
Dave was about to give her exactly what she had asked for. He was about to make their relationship official in front of everyone.
