INT. WAYNE AND LAUREN’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM – EVENING

The house is unusually quiet, but something is terribly wrong. Lauren is standing near the living room couch, looking uncomfortable and frightened. Dan is standing close to her, ignoring her attempts to create distance. Lauren keeps moving away, hoping Dan will understand that his presence is unwanted. However, Dan refuses to respect her boundaries.

LAUREN

Dan, what are you doing? Please, stop. I already told you that this isn’t okay.

DAN

Lauren, why are you acting like this? We need to talk. You can’t keep avoiding me forever.

LAUREN

There’s nothing left to discuss. You need to leave my house right now.

Lauren turns away, trying to move toward the other side of the room. Dan continues bothering her, making the situation increasingly uncomfortable.

LAUREN

I’m serious, Dan. Wayne could come home at any moment. You need to go!

Dan ignores her warning. Suddenly, the sound of a car pulling into the driveway breaks the silence. Lauren immediately looks toward the front door. She recognizes the sound. Wayne is home.

INT. HOUSE – FRONT ENTRANCE – CONTINUOUS

Wayne steps out of his car and approaches the front door. He has no idea what is happening inside his house. He simply wants to come home and spend some time with his wife. He reaches for the doorknob and opens the door. But the moment he steps inside, he notices something disturbing. Dan is standing extremely close to Lauren, and she clearly looks uncomfortable. Wayne stops walking. His expression changes immediately.

WAYNE

What in the world is going on here?

Lauren quickly looks toward Wayne. She feels relieved to see him, but she is still shaken by everything that has happened.

LAUREN

Wayne! Thank God you’re home.

Wayne takes another step inside.

WAYNE

Dan? What are you doing in my house?

Dan looks surprised.

DAN

Wayne, listen. It’s not what you think.

WAYNE

Don’t tell me what I think! I can see what’s happening right in front of me.

Lauren moves away from Dan and stands closer to Wayne.

LAUREN

Wayne, I’ve been telling him to leave, but he won’t listen to me.

Those words make Wayne even more upset.

INT. LIVING ROOM – MOMENTS LATER

Wayne walks toward Dan. His face shows a mixture of anger, disbelief, and disappointment.

WAYNE

You really thought you could come into my house and disrespect my wife?

Dan raises his hands, trying to calm the situation.

DAN

Man, calm down. I was just trying to talk to her.

WAYNE

Talk to her? Is that what you call this?

Wayne looks toward Lauren. She is standing several feet away, visibly distressed.

LAUREN

Wayne, I told him I didn’t want him here. He just wouldn’t leave.

Wayne turns back toward Dan.

WAYNE

You heard what she said. She doesn’t want you here. So why are you still standing in my living room?

Dan tries to respond, but Wayne has already lost his patience. A heated confrontation begins. Wayne rushes toward Dan and knocks him down onto the living room floor. Lauren immediately steps away, frightened by the sudden escalation.

LAUREN

Wayne! Please! What’s happening?

Wayne remains furious. He moves toward Dan, who is now on the floor, and starts throwing punches before Lauren can fully process what is happening.

WAYNE

What are you doing in my house? Who gave you permission to come near my wife?

Dan tries to protect himself and tells Wayne to stop.

DAN

Wayne! Get off me! Listen to me!

WAYNE

I don’t want to hear another word from you!

INT. LIVING ROOM – CONTINUOUS

Lauren realizes that the situation is getting out of control. She looks at Wayne, desperately hoping he will stop.

LAUREN

Wayne, please! That’s enough! I understand you’re angry, but you need to stop!

Wayne finally pauses. He looks at Lauren and notices how frightened she is. He gets away from Dan and stands up. Dan remains on the floor, trying to recover from the confrontation. Wayne points toward the front door.

WAYNE

Get up and get out of my house!

Dan looks at Wayne angrily.

DAN

You can’t just attack me like that!

WAYNE

You should have thought about that before coming into my house and disrespecting my wife!

Wayne takes a step toward him.

WAYNE

I don’t ever want to see you around Lauren again. Do you understand me?

Dan slowly gets back on his feet. He looks toward Lauren, hoping she might say something. But Lauren refuses to defend him.

LAUREN

Dan, just leave. I don’t want you here anymore.

INT. HOUSE – FRONT ENTRANCE – MOMENTS LATER

Dan walks toward the front door. Wayne follows him, making sure he leaves. Before stepping outside, Dan turns around one last time.

DAN

This isn’t over, Wayne.

Wayne looks directly at him.

WAYNE

It is over as far as I’m concerned. Stay away from my family.

Dan finally walks out. Wayne closes the door firmly behind him. The house becomes quiet again. But the tension hasn’t disappeared.

INT. LIVING ROOM – A FEW MOMENTS LATER

Wayne turns around and sees Lauren standing near the couch. Her eyes are filled with worry. He immediately approaches her.

WAYNE

Baby, are you okay? Did he hurt you?

Lauren takes a deep breath. She is still trying to process everything that just happened.

LAUREN

I’m okay, Wayne. But I was scared. I kept telling him to leave, and he wouldn’t listen.

Wayne looks at her with concern.

WAYNE

Why didn’t you call me? I would have come home immediately.

LAUREN

I didn’t know what to do. I never expected him to behave like this.

Wayne gently takes her hand.

WAYNE

Listen to me. Nobody has the right to make you uncomfortable in your own home. You don’t have to tolerate that kind of behavior from anybody.

Lauren looks at him.

LAUREN

I just wanted him to leave. I didn’t want all of this happening.

WAYNE

I understand. I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I opened that door.

He looks toward the entrance, still frustrated that Dan had entered their home.

WAYNE

I trusted that nobody would ever cross those boundaries with you. But Dan clearly doesn’t understand respect.

LAUREN

I don’t want him coming back here, Wayne. I don’t want any more problems with him.

WAYNE

He won’t be welcome here again. And if he contacts you, tell me immediately.

Lauren finally begins to relax. She sits down on the couch while Wayne sits beside her.

INT. LIVING ROOM – LATER THAT EVENING

Wayne and Lauren sit together in silence. The confrontation has ended, but both of them are thinking about what happened. Wayne looks at Lauren and realizes that protecting their relationship means more than simply reacting with anger.

WAYNE

I want you to feel safe in this house. That’s what matters to me.

LAUREN

I know, Wayne. I just hope Dan understands that he needs to stay away from us.

Wayne looks toward the front door one last time.

WAYNE

After today, he should understand one thing. He is no longer welcome in our lives.

Lauren rests back against the couch. For the first time since Dan arrived, she feels that the situation is finally over. But one question remains unanswered:
