BROOKE’S DARKEST NIGHT
SCENE 1 — THE EMPTY ROAD — NIGHT
The night is cold and quiet.
Brooke walks alone along the roadside, carrying nothing but the clothes she is wearing. Her face is exhausted, and tears have dried on her cheeks.
For two days, she has had nowhere to go.
She sits on the edge of the road and pulls her knees toward her chest.
Brooke
I don’t know what I’m supposed to do anymore.
She looks down at the ground, fighting back tears.
Brooke
I just wanted somebody to understand me.
After a long silence, Brooke stands and slowly continues walking.
Her thoughts are heavy, and she feels completely alone.
SCENE 2 — CAMERON’S HOUSE — EVENING
Brooke finally reaches Cameron’s house.
She hesitates outside the door before knocking.
Cameron opens it.
The moment he sees Brooke, his expression changes.
Cameron
Brooke? What are you doing here?
Brooke
Cameron… please.
He looks at her carefully.
Brooke
My dad kicked me out.
Her voice cracks.
Brooke
I don’t have anywhere to stay. I’ve been on the road for two days. Please… I need your help.
Cameron takes a breath and looks away.
Cameron
Brooke, I can’t do this.
Brooke
What do you mean?
Cameron
I can’t help you anymore.
He remains standing in the doorway.
Cameron
Your situation already caused enough problems for me. Your dad accused me of things that weren’t true, and you didn’t defend me in front of him.
Brooke lowers her eyes.
Cameron
We were friends. That’s all we were. But your dad made me look like I was responsible for everything.
Brooke
I’m sorry.
She looks directly at him.
Brooke
I’m sorry for everything my dad said to you. I’m apologizing on his behalf. Please, Cameron… just help me this one time.
Cameron’s expression remains firm.
Cameron
I’m sorry, Brooke.
A painful silence fills the doorway.
Cameron
But I can’t help you.
Brooke’s eyes fill with tears.
Cameron
You need to go.
Brooke slowly nods.
Brooke
I understand.
She walks down the steps, crying.
Cameron watches her for a moment before quietly closing the door.
SCENE 3 — THE SEARCH — NIGHT
Across town, Larry is desperately searching for Brooke.
He holds a missing-person poster with Brooke’s photograph printed across it.
Larry
Please. If you see her, call me immediately.
He hands someone the poster.
Larry
Her name is Brooke. She’s my daughter.
Larry moves to another person.
Larry
Please put this somewhere people can see it.
His voice trembles.
Larry
I just need to know she’s safe.
He continues walking from one person to another.
Every unanswered phone call makes his fear worse.
Larry
Where are you, baby?
He wipes his eyes and keeps searching.
SCENE 4 — CAMERON’S HOUSE — LATER
Larry eventually arrives at Cameron’s house.
He knocks hard.
Cameron opens the door.
Larry
Where is my daughter?
Cameron
I don’t know where she is.
Larry
Don’t lie to me.
Cameron
I’m not lying. Brooke came here, but she left.
Larry
She was here?
Cameron
She asked me for help.
Larry
And you let her leave?
Cameron doesn’t answer.
Larry
If anything happens to my daughter, I’ll never forgive you.
Larry turns around and rushes away.
SCENE 5 — THE ROADSIDE — NIGHT
Larry drives through the neighborhood, desperately searching.
He slows down near a quiet stretch of road.
Something catches his attention.
He sees someone lying near the roadside.
Larry immediately stops the car and gets out.
Larry
Brooke?
He runs toward her.
His face changes when he realizes it is his daughter.
Larry
Oh my God… Brooke!
Larry kneels beside her.
Brooke is unconscious and unresponsive.
Larry immediately grabs his phone and calls emergency services.
Larry
My daughter is unconscious. I found her on the roadside. Please send an ambulance immediately!
Larry stays beside Brooke.
Larry
Come on, baby. Please wake up.
Larry
You can’t leave me.
His voice breaks.
Larry
I was looking everywhere for you.
Larry
I’m here now.
SCENE 6 — THE AMBULANCE ARRIVES — NIGHT
The ambulance arrives.
Emergency responders quickly approach Brooke and begin helping her.
Larry
Please save my daughter.
One of the responders reassures him that they are taking her to the hospital.
Larry follows them toward the ambulance.
Larry
You’re not alone anymore.
The ambulance drives away with its lights flashing against the darkness.
Larry follows behind.
SCENE 7 — HOSPITAL — NIGHT
The hospital doors open as Brooke is rushed inside.
Larry runs after the medical team.
A doctor stops him outside the treatment area.
Doctor
Sir, we’re going to do everything we can.
Larry
Please.
The doctor disappears behind the doors.
Larry sits down.
For the first time that night, he allows himself to cry.
Larry
I should have found you sooner.
Larry
I’m sorry.
SCENE 8 — THE WAITING ROOM — LATER
Time passes slowly.
Larry sits alone under the harsh hospital lights.
His phone rests in his hand.
He stares at Brooke’s photograph.
Larry
You scared me, Brooke.
Larry
Whatever happened… whatever you were feeling…
Larry wipes his face.
Larry
You should have known you could come home.
The treatment-room doors remain closed.
Larry continues waiting.
SCENE 9 — A SECOND CHANCE — EARLY MORNING
The doors finally open.
The doctor walks toward Larry.
Larry
How is she?
Doctor
She’s receiving treatment and we’re monitoring her closely. She needs continued medical care and support.
Larry nods.
Tears fill his eyes again.
Larry
Can I see her?
The doctor nods.
Larry slowly walks toward Brooke’s room.
Through the glass, he sees his daughter lying safely in a hospital bed.
He places his hand against the glass.
Larry
I’m here.
Larry
And I’m not going anywhere.
The camera slowly pulls away from the hospital room.
The sun begins to rise outside.
After two terrifying days, Brooke is finally somewhere safe.
But for Larry, the search is over only physically.
Now begins the harder journey of helping his daughter heal from everything that brought her to this moment.
SCENE 10 — FADE OUT — MORNING
The morning light fills the hospital hallway.
Larry remains beside Brooke’s room, refusing to leave her alone.
For the first time in days, he knows exactly where his daughter is.
The camera slowly moves away as Larry watches over Brooke.
FADE OUT.
