The house is quiet.
LARRY and BETHANY sit together in the living room. BROOKE is sitting nearby, listening to their conversation.
Bethany suddenly turns toward Larry with an excited expression.
BETHANY
Larry, let’s go shopping today.
Larry looks at Bethany, confused by what he just heard.
He slowly raises his eyebrows.
LARRY
What did you say?
Bethany smiles and repeats herself.
BETHANY
I said, let’s go shopping today. Just you and me.
Larry stares at her for a moment, almost surprised by the suggestion.
LARRY
You want to go shopping?
Bethany nods confidently.
BETHANY
Yes. I’m serious.
Larry looks at her carefully.
LARRY
Okay. If you’re serious, then I’ll get ready.
Bethany smiles.
BETHANY
Good. You get ready, and I’ll get ready too.
Brooke suddenly speaks from the couch.
BROOKE
Can I come with you guys?
Bethany immediately turns toward her.
Her expression changes.
BETHANY
No, Brooke. You stay here.
Brooke looks surprised.
BROOKE
Why? I want to go too.
Bethany shakes her head.
BETHANY
We’re going out together. You need to stay home and keep an eye on the house.
Brooke looks disappointed.
BROOKE
But I wanted to go with you.
Larry looks toward Brooke.
LARRY
No, Brooke. You’re staying here.
Brooke becomes quiet.
She lowers her eyes and slowly leans back into the couch.
BROOKE
Okay.
Larry and Bethany stand up and begin preparing to leave.
Brooke watches them carefully.
She waits until they walk away.
Her expression slowly changes from disappointment to a secretive smile.
Brooke sits alone on the couch.
She picks up her phone.
After a moment, she calls ISAIAH.
The phone rings.
ISAIAH
Hello?
Brooke smiles.
BROOKE
Isaiah, come over here. Hurry.
Isaiah sounds confused.
ISAIAH
Why? What happened?
Brooke looks toward the front door to make sure nobody is there.
BROOKE
Larry and Bethany are gone.
There is a short silence.
ISAIAH
Are you sure?
BROOKE
Yes. They went shopping. They won’t be back for a while.
Isaiah hesitates.
ISAIAH
What if they come back early?
Brooke laughs softly.
BROOKE
They won’t. They’re going shopping, so they’ll be gone for a while.
Isaiah remains quiet for a moment.
ISAIAH
Okay. Hang up. I’m coming.
Brooke ends the call.
She smiles to herself.
BROOKE
This is going to be interesting.
A short time later, Isaiah pulls his car into the driveway.
He gets out and walks quickly toward the front door.
He looks around before entering.
The house is quiet.
Isaiah steps inside.
ISAIAH
Brooke?
Brooke appears from the hallway.
She is dressed up for the occasion, clearly expecting him.
ISAIAH
Wow.
Brooke smiles.
BROOKE
You made it.
Isaiah walks closer.
ISAIAH
I thought you said they were definitely gone.
BROOKE
They are.
She takes his hand.
BROOKE
Come upstairs.
Brooke leads Isaiah into her bedroom.
The door closes behind them.
They sit together and begin talking.
The conversation quickly becomes affectionate.
ISAIAH
Are you sure this is a good idea?
Brooke nods.
BROOKE
Nobody is here. We have time.
Isaiah smiles.
The two move closer to each other.
They share a kiss and embrace.
The moment becomes increasingly romantic.
Neither of them notices the sound of a car arriving outside.
Larry’s car pulls into the driveway.
Bethany gets out first.
Larry follows.
They walk toward the house.
BETHANY
That was actually fun.
Larry smiles.
LARRY
See? I told you we could have a good day together.
They enter the house.
Everything seems strangely quiet.
BETHANY
Where’s Brooke?
Larry shrugs.
LARRY
Probably upstairs.
They begin walking toward the hallway.
Suddenly, Bethany notices something.
She stops.
BETHANY
Larry…
LARRY
What?
Bethany points toward Brooke’s room.
They hear voices coming from inside.
Larry’s expression immediately becomes serious.
LARRY
Who is in there?
Bethany looks concerned.
They slowly walk toward the bedroom door.
Larry reaches the bedroom door.
It is partially closed.
He pushes it open.
Both Larry and Bethany freeze.
Brooke and Isaiah are inside together, clearly caught in a private romantic moment.
Brooke immediately jumps back.
Isaiah stands up in shock.
For several seconds, nobody says anything.
Larry’s face becomes furious.
LARRY
ISAIAH?!
Isaiah looks terrified.
ISAIAH
Larry, wait—
Larry steps forward.
LARRY
What are you doing in my house?
Brooke quickly moves between them.
BROOKE
Larry, please!
BETHANY
Brooke, what were you thinking?
Brooke struggles to answer.
BROOKE
I can explain.
LARRY
Explain what?
Larry points toward Isaiah.
LARRY
You told us you were staying here.
Brooke lowers her head.
LARRY
And instead, you invited Isaiah into the house behind our backs?
ISAIAH
Larry, I should have known better.
Larry turns toward him.
LARRY
You absolutely should have.
Larry’s anger continues to rise.
BETHANY
Larry, calm down.
Larry takes a breath but remains furious.
LARRY
How am I supposed to calm down after walking into this?
Brooke starts crying.
BROOKE
I’m sorry.
Larry looks at her.
LARRY
You knew exactly what you were doing.
Brooke wipes her tears.
BROOKE
I didn’t think you would come back so soon.
Larry looks stunned by her answer.
LARRY
That’s what you’re worried about?
ISAIAH
Larry, this was my mistake too.
Larry turns toward him.
LARRY
Then take responsibility for it.
Isaiah nods.
ISAIAH
I will.
Bethany looks between everyone.
BETHANY
This whole situation is unbelievable.
Brooke sits on the edge of the bed.
Her confidence is completely gone.
BROOKE
I just wanted some time with Isaiah.
Larry shakes his head.
LARRY
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to spend time with someone.
He pauses.
LARRY
But sneaking someone into the house after we specifically told you to stay home is another matter.
Brooke looks down.
BROOKE
I understand.
BETHANY
Trust is hard to rebuild once you break it.
Brooke looks at her.
BROOKE
I know.
Isaiah steps toward the door.
ISAIAH
I should leave.
Larry points toward the hallway.
LARRY
Yes. You should.
Isaiah leaves the bedroom.
Brooke remains silent.
Larry stands in the doorway.
Bethany remains beside him.
Brooke looks up at them.
The room is completely silent.
LARRY
Brooke, we trusted you.
Brooke’s eyes fill with tears.
BROOKE
I’m sorry.
Larry takes a deep breath.
LARRY
I hope you understand how serious this is.
Brooke nods.
BROOKE
I do.
Larry turns away.
Bethany gently follows him into the hallway.
Before leaving, Bethany looks back at Brooke.
BETHANY
You’re going to have to earn that trust again.
The door remains open. Brooke sits alone, realizing that her secret has completely changed everything.Outside the room, Larry and Bethany walk down the hallway in silence. The peaceful shopping trip they expected has turned into a family confrontation none of them will forget.
