✨ WELCOME ✨
The room is quiet. Larry sits on the couch while Bethany walks toward him with a notebook in her hands.
BETHANY
Larry, I’ve been thinking about something.
LARRY
About what?
Bethany sits across from him and opens her notebook.
BETHANY
About us. I think we should start a business together.
Larry looks surprised.
LARRY
A business?
BETHANY
Yes. I really believe this could bring us closer together.
Bethany shows Larry her café plans, but Larry isn’t convinced.
LARRY
Bethany, I don’t think this is a good idea.
BETHANY
Why not?
LARRY
Because we don’t have the money for something like this.
Bethany’s smile disappears. She closes the notebook and looks down.
BETHANY
But we could figure it out together.
LARRY
I’m not ready to do this.
Bethany tries to hold back her tears, but eventually she starts crying in front of Larry.
BETHANY
Larry, I’m trying to build something with you.
LARRY
Bethany, I hear you.
BETHANY
I don’t just want a business. I want something that belongs to both of us.
Larry watches her carefully. He realizes how much this dream means to her.
LARRY
I don’t have that kind of money.
Bethany picks up her phone and decides to ask her father for help.
BETHANY
You said you don’t have the money. So I’ll find it.
She calls her dad.
BETHANY’S DAD
Hey, Bethany. What’s going on?
BETHANY
Dad, Larry and I are going to start a business. We’re planning to open a café.
BETHANY’S DAD
A café?
BETHANY
Yes. I need $10,000 to get us started. I promise I’ll pay you back as soon as I can.
A notification suddenly appears on Bethany’s phone.
BETHANY
Dad sent it.
LARRY
He actually sent it?
BETHANY
Yes. We have the money.
Larry looks at Bethany. He finally realizes how determined she is.
LARRY
Okay. Let’s see what we can do.
Bethany smiles and hugs Larry.
Bethany and Larry search for the perfect location.
They finally discover a small storefront with large windows and plenty of natural light.
BETHANY
That one.
LARRY
This could actually work.
BETHANY
I told you.
They begin imagining the café together.
Days pass as Bethany and Larry work together.
Bethany paints the walls while Larry carries boxes. They choose furniture, install shelves, organize supplies, and prepare the café.
LARRY
You okay?
BETHANY
I’m tired. But I’m happy.
LARRY
Me too.
They look around the unfinished café and smile.
The café sign is finally installed. Bethany and Larry stand outside and stare at the place they built together.
LARRY
We actually did it.
BETHANY
We did.
They open the doors. Customers begin entering the café.
Larry prepares the first coffee while Bethany welcomes the customers.
Their eyes meet across the room, and they both smile.
At the end of the day, the café becomes quiet.
BETHANY
Remember when I told you this would bring us closer?
LARRY
Yeah.
BETHANY
You didn’t believe me.
LARRY
I was wrong.
Bethany smiles.
LARRY
Maybe it did bring us closer.
Bethany looks at him with a warm smile.
Bethany and Larry sit together inside the café after closing.
BETHANY
Where do you see this going?
LARRY
Hopefully somewhere good.
BETHANY
Maybe we can open another café someday.
LARRY
Maybe.
They smile at each other.
LARRY
You know… maybe you were right from the beginning.
BETHANY
About the café?
LARRY
About us.
Bethany smiles through emotional tears. Their new journey has only just begun.
