The morning light was still faint when Brooke stepped out of her house. She had told her family that she was heading to the university, but a violent storm was brewing in her mind.

After picking up Isaiah, Brooke accelerated the car. A heavy silence settled between them, broken only by the hum of the engine.

Isaiah couldn’t understand why Brooke was taking him out so early in the morning. Within a few minutes, the car pulled up at a secluded, elevated bridge far from the city.

Below them, the river flowed rapidly beneath the bridge while the morning wind swept across the empty roadway.

Stepping out of the car, Brooke walked toward the bridge’s railing. Her eyes held an ocean of pain and anger. Isaiah followed and stood beside her.
