The lawyer’s office was unusually quiet. The girls were sitting around the table with contracts spread everywhere.
Everyone looked serious because the lawyer had just started explaining the parts of the contract that could change everything.
Lauren was sitting back in her chair with a small smile on her face.
She was acting calm, but she knew something nobody else knew.
💭 Earlier that day, Lauren had sent Wayne a message telling him the girls were meeting with a lawyer.
She did not tell him everything. She only wanted to see what he would do.
The lawyer looked around the table.

If you have a problem with the contract, you can ask for changes.”
👩 Girl: “So Wayne cannot just change everything whenever he wants?”

The girls looked at each other. Lauren smiled again.
👩 Girl: “Why are you smiling?”

😊 Lauren: “I just feel like we finally know what we are dealing with.”
The lawyer opened another page and explained that everyone needed to communicate carefully.
A private agreement made by one person could potentially affect everyone else.

Lauren checked her phone. There was still no message from Wayne.
She began wondering whether he had actually seen her message.

He looked around the room before his eyes stopped directly on Lauren.
😏 Wayne: “You thought you were slick, huh?”

📱 Wayne: “You sent me the message.”
The girls immediately looked at Lauren.
😮 Girl: “You told him?”
🙌 Lauren: “I only told him we were meeting with a lawyer.
I didn’t tell him what we were talking about.”
🧑 Wayne: “That little message was enough for me to know something was going on.”
🧑⚖️ Lawyer: “Wayne, they have every right to get legal advice.”
😐 Wayne: “I never said they didn’t.
But I want to know why Lauren felt like she had to play detective.”
😠 Lauren: “I wasn’t playing detective.”
👀 Wayne: “You were testing me.”
Lauren stayed quiet.
🤫 Girl: “Lauren…”
Wayne shook his head.
🧑 Wayne: “I knew it.”
😬 Lauren: “Okay. Maybe I wanted to know what you would say if you found out.”
😏 Wayne: “So you sent me the information hoping I would show up?”
😅 Lauren: “I didn’t know you would actually come.”
🧑 Wayne: “Well, here I am.”
Wayne walked toward the table and picked up the contract.
🧑 Wayne: “So what exactly are y’all trying to change?”
👩 Girl: “We just want everything to be fair.”
Wayne nodded and pointed at one section.
🧑 Wayne: “This part?”
🧑⚖️ Lawyer: “How do you know about that section?”
😐 Wayne: “Because Lauren told me enough.”
😳 Lauren: “I didn’t tell him that part.”
The room became silent.
⚠️ Wayne slowly looked around the room.
“Then somebody else did.”
The lawyer quickly closed the contract.
🧑⚖️ Lawyer: “That is enough for tonight.”
But Lauren noticed something sitting underneath the lawyer’s folder.
Another contract.

Wayne looked at the document.
🧑 Wayne: “Why is there another contract?”
🧑⚖️ Lawyer: “That document is not part of today’s meeting.”

Nobody spoke.
👩 Girl: “What does it say?”
Lauren opened the first page.
Her expression completely changed.

Lauren looked at everyone.
📄 “This isn’t the same agreement.”
The lawyer tried to take the document back, but Wayne stopped him.
