The Moment of Truth
When betrayal stands before your eyes, every beautiful illusion disappears—and the heart is forced to face reality.
1. Shocking News
On a pleasant afternoon, Hope and Faith met Cameron. Cameron, an old acquaintance of Isaiah, brought news that instantly pulled the rug from under Hope and Faith’s feet.
Upon meeting them, Cameron said in a grave tone:
“You two probably don’t know this yet… Isaiah has decided to move on with his life. Not only has he found a new girlfriend, but he also intends to marry her.”
Hope and Faith were stunned. They couldn’t even fathom that Isaiah— who used to make such grand promises and sweet talk to Brooke— could belong to someone else so quickly.
Cameron turned his phone screen toward them and explained that he personally had taken a picture of Isaiah and his new friend, Mariah.
Cameron forwarded the photo to Hope and Faith, showing Isaiah and Mariah sitting quite close to each other, looking happy.
2. Arriving at Brooke’s Place
Seeing the picture, a wave of deep sympathy for Brooke surged in both friends’ hearts, and they immediately decided to go to her.
Without wasting any time, Hope and Faith headed straight to Brooke’s house.
Brooke was sitting in her room, busy studying with her university books open. Her face was still pale from the grief of Isaiah’s sudden detachment, but she was trying her best to pull herself together.
“Brooke… we need to talk to you about something very important. We know your heart is already hurting, but it’s crucial that you know the truth.”
Faith picked up the conversation and explained that Isaiah’s distance had a deeper reason behind it.
“The distance Isaiah was using as an excuse… the real reason behind it is something else. He has brought someone else into his life.”
She told Brooke that Isaiah was spending time with another girl and that things had even progressed toward marriage talks.
3. Denial and Unbelief
When Brooke heard these words, a bitter smile crossed her face. She shook her head in disbelief, closed her book, and refused to accept what her friends were saying.
“What are you two even saying? I know things aren’t great between Isaiah and me right now, and he’s upset with me. But he could never do something like this.”
“He made firm promises to me. If he marries anyone, it will only be me! You must have misunderstood something.”
Brooke couldn’t even conceive the idea of Isaiah’s betrayal. It was impossible for her to accept that the person who, just a few days ago, claimed to love her so deeply could even look at someone else so soon.
4. The Final Proof
When Hope and Faith realized that Brooke was refusing to accept the truth and was still defending her love for Isaiah, they decided to take the final step.
Faith pulled out her mobile phone, opened the photo, and held the screen directly in front of Brooke.
“If you don’t believe our words, then see it with your own eyes, Brooke!”
The moment Brooke’s eyes fell upon the mobile screen, her heart felt as though it skipped a beat.
In the picture, Isaiah was smiling while holding hands with an unfamiliar girl—Mariah. He had the exact same smile on his face that used to appear whenever he looked at Brooke.
5. Shock and Silence
Brooke was completely shattered upon seeing the photo. Her eyes widened with shock and sorrow, and she froze completely.
Her face turned pale, and not a single word could escape her lips. The imaginary world she had built on Isaiah’s promises shattered like glass in a fraction of a second.
Hope wrapped her arms around Brooke, and Faith held her other hand. Silent tears began to stream down Brooke’s cheeks.
But this time, those tears were not just born of grief. They were tears of absolute realization.
