A Cinematic Family Drama Screenplay
Genre: Romantic Drama | Family Business | Love and Trust
Format: Cinematic Screenplay
Setting: Larry and Bethany’s House, Car Showroom, and Office
SCENE 1 — LARRY AND BETHANY’S LIVING ROOM — MORNING
The morning sunlight shines through the living room windows. Bethany sits on the sofa, looking through a folder filled with business documents. Several pictures of luxury cars are spread across the coffee table.
She looks excited but nervous. Opening a car showroom has been her dream for a long time, but she knows it will require money, patience, and trust.
Larry enters the room carrying two cups of coffee. He notices the documents and smiles as he approaches her.
LARRY
Bethany, I have been thinking about something important. I know how much you want to open your own car showroom, and I want you to know that you don’t have to do it alone.
Bethany looks up at him, surprised by his serious tone.
BETHANY
Larry, are you saying that you really want to help me open the showroom? Because this is a big decision. I don’t want us to start something together and then end up arguing about it.
Larry places the coffee on the table and sits beside her.
LARRY
I’m not just talking about helping you. I’m ready to open this car showroom with you. We can build this business together, make our own decisions, and work toward something that belongs to both of us.
Bethany’s eyes fill with happiness.
BETHANY
You have no idea how much those words mean to me. I wanted a partner who would believe in my dreams and stand beside me when things became difficult.
Larry gently takes her hand.
LARRY
And that’s exactly what I want to be for you. You are my wife, Bethany. I want us to share our dreams, our responsibilities, and our success. This is the beginning of something wonderful for both of us.
Bethany smiles and leans closer to him. For the first time in a long while, she feels that she and Larry are truly moving in the same direction.
SCENE 2 — THE BUSINESS PLAN — LATE MORNING
Bethany opens the folder and spreads the documents across the table. Larry moves his coffee aside and begins examining the proposed showroom location, estimated expenses, and vehicle inventory.
The excitement between them grows as they begin discussing their plans.
BETHANY
I have already looked at several locations. I want a showroom with enough space for luxury cars, family vehicles, and a separate office where we can meet customers.
LARRY
That sounds perfect. We should choose a location where people can easily find us. We also need professional staff, reliable suppliers, and a good reputation from the very beginning.
Bethany nods and points to a photograph of a spacious commercial property.
BETHANY
This is my favorite location. The building has a large glass front, plenty of parking, and enough room to display several cars. But the rent and renovation costs are going to be expensive.
Larry studies the photograph carefully.
LARRY
Then we’ll sit down and work out the numbers before making a commitment. I don’t want us to rush into anything without understanding the risks.
Bethany looks at him appreciatively.
BETHANY
I’m glad you’re thinking that way. I want this business to succeed, but I also want us to protect our relationship while we build it.
Larry puts the photograph down and turns toward her.
LARRY
Our marriage matters more to me than any showroom. If we disagree about something, we’ll talk about it. If one of us makes a mistake, we’ll find a solution together.
BETHANY
That’s all I need from you, Larry. I want us to be a team, not two people fighting to control the same dream.
Larry nods and begins writing down their first business priorities. They spend the rest of the morning discussing the plan, carefully turning Bethany’s long-held dream into a shared goal.
SCENE 3 — OUTSIDE THE FUTURE SHOWROOM — AFTERNOON
Larry and Bethany arrive at the commercial property they have been considering. The building stands beside a busy road, with a wide entrance and large windows that reflect the afternoon sunlight.
Bethany steps out of the car and looks at the building with amazement. She imagines rows of shining vehicles inside, customers walking through the showroom, and a professional sign bearing their business name.
Larry joins her on the pavement.
LARRY
So, what do you think? Can you imagine our business operating here?
BETHANY
Absolutely. I can already picture the cars inside and customers coming through those doors. Larry, this place could become everything I’ve been working toward.
Larry looks at the building and then at his wife.
LARRY
Then let’s find out what it will take to make it happen. We’ll inspect the property, discuss the lease, and make sure everything is right before we sign anything.
Bethany takes his hand.
BETHANY
I want you beside me through all of it. The difficult meetings, the long working days, and even the moments when we feel like giving up.
Larry squeezes her hand reassuringly.
LARRY
Bethany, I’ll stand beside you wherever we go. You’re my wife, and I want to build a future with you. I don’t want you to feel that you have to carry every responsibility by yourself anymore.
BETHANY
I spent so much time wondering whether we could truly work together. Now, standing here with you, I feel hopeful about what comes next.
LARRY
Then let’s make our dream a reality, one step at a time.
They walk toward the entrance to arrange a viewing with the property representative. For both of them, the building represents more than a business opportunity. It represents a chance to begin a new chapter together.
SCENE 4 — THE SHOWROOM OFFICE — ONE WEEK LATER
The office is bright and spacious. A large desk stands near the window, and several vehicle catalogues are neatly arranged on a shelf.
Larry and Bethany sit across from each other, reviewing the final details of their business proposal. They have spent the past week comparing suppliers, researching the local market, and discussing their financial responsibilities.
Bethany places a document on the desk.
BETHANY
Larry, I’ve reviewed everything again. We have a budget, a list of potential suppliers, and a plan for advertising the showroom. If we stay organized, I believe we can make this business successful.
Larry reads through the document before looking up.
LARRY
You’ve done an excellent job, Bethany. I can see how much effort you’ve put into this. I’m proud of you.
Bethany smiles, but a moment later her expression becomes thoughtful.
BETHANY
There’s something I need to ask you. What happens if the business becomes stressful? What if we lose money or disagree about an important decision?
Larry closes the folder.
LARRY
Then we face those problems together. I won’t promise that every day will be easy, because running a business takes hard work. But I can promise that I’ll listen to you and respect your opinions.
BETHANY
I need to know that I’ll have a voice in this business. I don’t want to become someone who simply follows your decisions because you’re my husband.
Larry immediately shakes his head.
LARRY
That’s not what I want, either. You’re not just my wife in this business. You’re my partner. Your ideas, your experience, and your decisions matter just as much as mine.
BETHANY
Thank you, Larry. That’s the kind of partnership I’ve always wanted.
Larry reaches across the desk and holds her hand.
LARRY
And that’s the partnership we’re going to build. We’ll divide our responsibilities fairly, keep our finances transparent, and make important decisions together.
They exchange a warm smile. The final documents are placed neatly inside the folder, ready for the next stage of their plan.
SCENE 5 — THE CAR SHOWROOM — OPENING DAY
The day they have been waiting for finally arrives. The showroom is filled with polished vehicles of different colors and styles. Bright lights illuminate the cars, while a new sign above the entrance announces the opening of their business.
Bethany stands near the entrance wearing an elegant outfit. She looks around proudly, hardly believing that the dream she once discussed at home has become a reality.
Larry walks toward her.
LARRY
Bethany, look at this place. We actually did it. After all the planning, the meetings, and the hard work, our showroom is finally open.
BETHANY
I still remember sitting at home with those pictures of cars, wondering whether this dream would ever happen. I never imagined that we would be standing here together on opening day.
Larry looks around at the vehicles before turning back to her.
LARRY
And this is only the beginning. We have so much to learn, so much work ahead of us, and so many opportunities to explore.
BETHANY
I want us to build something that makes us proud. I want customers to trust us, employees to respect us, and our business to become known for honesty and excellent service.
LARRY
That’s exactly how we’ll do it. We’ll treat people fairly, keep our promises, and never forget why we started this journey.
A few early customers enter the showroom. Bethany warmly welcomes them while Larry begins explaining the available vehicles. They work together naturally, each taking responsibility for different tasks.
Watching Larry speak confidently with a customer, Bethany feels proud of the decision they made. Later, when the customers move toward another vehicle, Larry returns to her side.
LARRY
How are you feeling?
BETHANY
Happy, nervous, and excited all at once. But most importantly, I’m happy that we’re doing this together.
LARRY
Bethany, I want you to remember something. Wherever this business takes us, I want to face the journey with you. You’re my wife, my partner, and the person I want beside me as we build our future.
BETHANY
And I want the same thing, Larry. I want us to celebrate our successes together and support each other when life becomes difficult.
Larry gently embraces her. For a moment, the noise of the showroom fades into the background. They stand together, sharing the happiness of a dream finally achieved.
SCENE 6 — OUTSIDE THE SHOWROOM — EVENING
The opening day comes to an end. The last customers leave, and the showroom becomes quiet. Larry and Bethany step outside and stand beneath the business sign. The evening sunlight casts a warm glow across the parked cars.
Bethany looks back through the glass windows.
BETHANY
Today made me realize something. A successful business isn’t just about the cars we sell or the money we earn. It’s also about the trust we build and the people who stand beside us.
LARRY
You’re right. We have a responsibility to protect this business and our relationship. There will be challenges, but we need to remember that we’re working toward the same future.
Bethany takes his hand.
BETHANY
Promise me that no matter how busy we become, we’ll always make time for each other.
LARRY
I promise I’ll do my best to make our marriage a priority. I want us to grow together, not become strangers while chasing success.
Bethany smiles and rests her head against his shoulder.
BETHANY
Then I believe we can make this work.
Larry looks at her with affection.
LARRY
We will take it one day at a time, Bethany. This showroom is our new beginning, and I’m glad we’re building it together.
They share a quiet embrace as the evening settles around them. The showroom lights shine behind them, illuminating the beginning of their new journey.
For Larry and Bethany, the future is uncertain, but their commitment to working together gives them a reason to believe in it.
FADE OUT.
THE END — A NEW BUSINESS, A STRONGER PARTNERSHIP, AND A FUTURE BUILT TOGETHER.
