Golden sunlight pours through the windows. Children’s toys are scattered across the carpet. The house feels peaceful until the front door opens. Shayla walks in carrying Baby Kai. Across the room, D’Nisha smiles warmly and reaches toward him.
SHAYLA
D’Nisha…

You’ll never be a good stepmother to Baby Kai.

I never wanted to replace you.

I only wanted to love Kai because he’s important to Anthony… and important to me.

Kai begins to fuss. D’Nisha quietly walks away with tears in her eyes.
INT. ANTHONY’S OFFICE – EVENING
Anthony answers D’Nisha’s phone call. After hearing what Shayla said, he grabs his car keys and rushes out.
ANTHONY
Stay where you are.

I’m going to get Kai.
EXT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE – SUNSET
Anthony arrives at Shayla’s house and knocks on the door. Shayla opens it while holding Baby Kai.
ANTHONY
I’m here for my son.
SHAYLA
He’s staying with me.
ANTHONY
Kai belongs with both of us.

I’m taking him home.
SHAYLA
No.

You’re not.
INT. SHAYLA’S LIVING ROOM – MOMENTS LATER
Kai reaches happily toward Anthony. Shayla refuses to let him go. Tension fills the room.
ANTHONY
Hey buddy… Daddy’s here.
SHAYLA
He’s not leaving.
ANTHONY
Give him to me.
SHAYLA
No.
ANTHONY
Enough.
Anthony carefully but firmly lifts Kai from Shayla’s arms. Kai begins crying loudly. Anthony gently comforts him.
ANTHONY
It’s okay… Daddy’s got you.
SHAYLA
Anthony! How dare you!
ANTHONY
I’m taking my son home.
EXT. SHAYLA’S HOUSE – CONTINUOUS
Anthony secures Baby Kai safely into the child seat, kisses his forehead, and prepares to leave.
ANTHONY
You’re safe.

I’ve got you.
SHAYLA
Anthony! Please! Don’t leave!
ANTHONY
This isn’t about winning.

This is about protecting Kai from all this anger.
INT. ANTHONY’S HOUSE – NIGHT
Anthony returns home with Baby Kai. D’Nisha welcomes him with tears of relief.
D’NISHA
Hi, little man…

I’ve missed you.
ANTHONY
He deserves love.

Not people fighting over him.
D’NISHA
I’ll never try to replace anyone.

I just want him to know…

He’s always loved.
Anthony smiles softly. The house finally feels peaceful as hope replaces anger.
